I think it should be fine - as it has nothing to do with showing a good faith marriage. Just my opinion...
Good luck

@byrd_75 thank you for the info, please let me know how it goes, I'll do the same.
All the best!

Hello,
I think you can leave it blank - as you did not hire a professional interpreter and preparer for it.
Perhaps others can confirm?

Go to your local DMV loaded with printouts from the Federal website. We did that.

@Sukie which federal website did you refer? I am going to the DMV soon and want to make sure they get the extension letter.
Thank you,

@rjm_cmyk Did ever receive your DL? I am going through that process right now and the guys at the Daly City DMV where a bit clueless with the I-751 Extension letter...so had to explain...

Hi Everyone
Anyone residing in California who successfully renewed their Driver License (and actually received it) with the NOA1 letter?
Please share your experiences.
Thank you

You will be fine!

Hmmm....are there any issues if do this a little late?
@svb technically you are suppose to do it as soon as you change address but I think a lot of people forget to do it. So if if you are late, just send the forms with a letter explaining that it was a mistake and you are taking steps to correct it...something like this. I would not worry about it too much

On the note above, if there is an address change should an AR-11 be filed in addition to an i-865? What are your thoughts?
@svb I think so, that what we did when we changed address.

I received the original package back - the check was voided so you just need to write a new one. The first page of the I-751 was stamped "rejected" so just print a new page and send everything back the way it was. It's frustrating but does not make that big of a difference given the overall time it takes to get approved.
-
@LGP I sent mine too early as well, according to the USPS stamp it was sent back to me the day after it was received. So if they reject it you will most likely receive it back soon. Most people who had their file rejected because it was sent too early got it back within a few days.
Good luck!

- Federal and state transcripts for 2014, 2015. We will include 2016 if the transcript arrives in time, the online portal is giving us a LOT of problems accessing it.
Hey rhirhi,
How did you manage to get a transcript for 2014? Your timeline indicates you got your GC in May. Just curious.

This is a common issue - they send the reminder letter based on when your Visa was granted and not the date on the GC. If you do some research on this forum you will see that it happened to a lot of people.
You need to file by the date on the GC - I was in the same situation and was told to file 90 days before the GC expiration. In any cases you will be fine given tha tthe two 90 day periods overlap.
-
I confirm this is a common issue.
Apply based on the Green Card date not based on when the Visa was approved. I had the same situation, where the letter stated the date based on my visa issue but was told to apply based on the GC by a USCIS officer when I called, which was also validated by many people on this forum.
-
Did you live outside of the US while on the 2 year GC? That could be why you had that "Pending Security Checks" status for so long?
Good luck at the interview.

Thank you Bolin786 for your advice! I appreciate it.
Anyone else who had a returned package that can share their experience, would be much appreciated!
Thank you and good luck everyone.

Hi everyone,
Happy New Year!
So I received my I-751 package back today from the CSC, I filled too early, this is my fault.
For those who had the same situation:
- Do you send a brand new I-751 form with new dates?
- Do you include the notice from USCIS (stating that I filled too early) in the second submission?
- My money order has been stamped "For deposit only", not cashed. Do you advise to get a brand new money order? Or can you send the same one, as the money has not been cashed?
- Can you include new "good faith marriage" evidences?
Thank you so much for your help!

Hi vamos25,
Had the same letter based on visa issue date - was told to go by the green card date by many sources including USCIS officer when I called. Personally I would not worry about the potential "wrong date" in the system. You have the GC, a stamp in your passport and the piece of paper they give you at the POE all with the April date.
Hope this helps.

Hi everyone,
I just called USCIS, the representative on the line confirmed that I should go by the GC date and mentioned that there have had lots of people calling for a similar issue lately, confirming that the notice sent bu USCIS may not always have the right date on records but to always go by the GC dates
Thank you for your help.
-
@Ketsuban - I'll try to call them, I verified the stamp on my passport it also says May 2017, in any cases if I file in Feb2017 I'll still be in the 90 days window of the March or May 2017 date.
Did you encounter the same issue?
-
GC expires on 05/07/2017 - thank you for all your help.
I got confused by the notice...I will go by the GC date based on your advice.
Thank you so much!

Hi mycase17,
Thank you for your reply - so I should ignore the USCIS letter saying my status was granted in March 2015 then?
Thank you so much!

Hi Everyone,
Confirming that I obtained my Driver's license in a week after a visit at my local DMV. It was not too complicated.
Thank you for sharing your experiences, glad everyone got their license renewed.
Good luck for the rest of the journey.
