    Hey Guys,

    Probably it is the holidays coming and I am simply impatient, but how long after sending the package you got any "news"? we sent the G1145 for email confirmation too, and the package got there on the 18th, and we received nothing yet! So I am just wondering what are the general waiting times, on getting the very first 'sign' that they started to deal with your case? Thanks.

    I sent it the 16th, they picked it up the 21st (November) and I received a text message the 9th at midnight. I never received any email though.

    I really cannot believe the USCIS has raised the cost of their already ridiculously high fees even higher!

    They must really not one anyone from any country to be able to afford to come to America!

    Please tell me how you expect someone to afford a wedding,

    a honeymoon,

    & the NOW $1,140 AOS fee plus the $85 Biometric fee

    ALL WITHIN 90 DAYS!

    From $1070 to $1225... Just for one form!

    I am really glad we only have that one left

    & the Form to Remove Conditions on Residence in 2 years

    & even that is now $595!

    They really even raise the petition cost from $340 to $535.

    Soon there will be no immigrants because no one can afford to come here legally.

    I totally understand you. I just wanted to say that it's not mandatory to file de AOS before the 90 days of arriving to the usa. Of course is the best option because you don't want to be in the house all day, but in case you dont have the money, it's okay to wait until you can :) we waited almost 2 months until we felt comfortable to say bye bye to more than $1000 dollars lol. Wish you the best in this new journey! (prices are insane!)

    Hi guys

    I had the same problem that couldn't fill some information online on the forms and then I realized iOS was to blame. Filled everything again in a windows computer.

    I have the same feeling that some of you have been expressing, I hate to be dependent. I'm keeping my Mexican credit card for emergencies but the exchange rate is killing me. I'm gonna try to get a secured card with a water bill and my name change in the marriage certificate. Also in california you're able to drive as a tourist with a foreign license... the problem is I'm not a tourist, and I'm expecting to get some lecture if an officer ever stops me. But what am I expected to do?? It's silly that they let us come in with a K1 visa but don't let us work, drive, or basically exist as a normal person.

    I've been reading October thread and they're getting their EAD cards, so it's safe to say we can expect them the second part of January and during February.

    OMG that is absolutely good news :) :) :) !! Now I have no idea how i would go to work since I don't know how to drive T.T lol omg this is like a game.

    Clau I know how you feel. This process has made me incredibly stressed and anxious hah. It's so overwhelming that I can't help but cry. I keep worrying about getting a RFE (which I'm sure I will) and I keep telling myself to calm down. Not being able to do anything is driving me crazy! Plus yesterday was my niece's bday and I am very homesick :( Soon it'll be my first Christmas and bday without my family. Sorry everyone for using this as a diary lol.

    I knooooow, me too. But It's good to read about others stories and know that we are not alone :) I don't know what to do for New year's eve because I have always been with my family watching fireworks from any tall building. Here in florida there are no buildings at all lol.

    Awwww I'm i your position as my b-day is Jan 1st.... We've always had special traditions for it seeing since it's the day after New Years and with the risk of sounding like a spoiled kid (lol) It's been "my special day". I'm gonna miss those traditions... but hopefully we can start brand new ones instead :)(L)

    "We use special scanners to read your forms and documents. The scanners will not properly read information that is greyed out, highlighted or corrected using correction fluid or tape".

    I used correction tape for 2 or 3 words :'(

    Guyss i'm excited!! Uscis case status for ead changed to new card is being produced Hope everything goes smoothly for everyone!

    I always go to google.com ant type USCIS case status. It's usually the first link :)

    Yep! That's your whole problem right there.... a 1040 has to be accompanied by the w2... (or you can send the irs tax transcript instead of those two)

    The second point is only a standard point generated since the W2 wasn't submitted... it only means you didn't provide the necessary proof that she makes the stated income...

    From what you're telling me it's only the w2's missing.. seen tons of those RFE's on here

    Oh my goodness I feel like I am going to get a RFE too. I didn't send the W2 X.X WHYYYYYY!!!

    Today I got approved for my first American credit card!! YAAAY!

    It feels good to finally have some of my own stuff going on

    I know that feeling! After being depressed because my husband's bank could't add me in his account...I just found out that I can buy a Floridan Disney Pass without the Florida ID (which requieres the GC)! So if I get the tickets it would mean that I don't have to be at the house 24/7 :D I am beyond happy haha let's see what the hubby says about it lol. Disney isn't cheep either. But it's nice to have a window open and be ME who decides if I go or not. Not like the bank when they gave me a big no :(

    It's only fun if I use it to buy stuff I don't need LOL

    Now, seriously, getting this kind of thing makes me feel not so much stuck on limbo anymore, it's refreshing.

    December is ending and that EAD is approaching...

    Things are finally starting to take a turn for the best. Had clinical depression the last couple months due to the whole change in my life. Finally getting out of it. VJ support was invaluable

    I don't know if I should call it clinical depression but last weekend I was crying and stressed out for everything. The fact that I can't visit my country, can't drive, can't be accepted by the bank I wanted, etc. made me feel like an ilegal person. And I felt that it wasn't fair to feel that way beacuse we did AAAALLL the legal steps and we have invested a lot of money in this process :( But I know what you meant about the depression (: Now my days are brighter thanks to Disney lol

    Same here...it's so mental. I was jumping in front of the mailbox when I saw the NOA1 hardcopy. Especially cause I never got an email or text and I was close to 30 days. So today still no letter for Bio in the mail. Lets see tmw

    BTW: I just realized that this forum is more for K1 people. I won the GC through the DV Lottery. I hope its still ok to post and read here. It just helps so much sharing the waiting time and the thousand thoughts I have about the process.

    I can not believe that it's been a WHOLE YEAR since we were document hunting for the i-129F petition. In December of last year my now husband had just left from a 3 month visit with me and I was heartbroken not knowing when I'd see him again. Now we are married and will have our first xmas together! It's a bit "pinch-myself-unreal"

    You are right! well, we did everything in October. So it's been more than a year for me lol. But I now the punch myself unreal feeling :) it's amazing how much we have accomplished!

    Received our RFE letter in the mail today and I am beyond livid.

    It says that the sponsor does not meet the 125% poverty guidelines. UMMMMM hello I meet it by over 2x what is required.

    It says to send in all tax documents, W2s, for the recent year. UMMMM hello I submitted the past 3 years tax transcripts, W2, and letter from employer.

    It's one thing if I forgot something or didn't meet requirements. It's another when the adjudicator cannot read what is in front of them. Complete and utter waste of time, paper, and postage!

    That is weird! Please keep us posted.

    I have a question...I (or my husband) lost the Fiancee Petition Approval Notice (NOA2)...I read online and in VisaJourney that if I lost it, I could request another one but i would cost $200-$300 or something like that. Of course we didn't do that and we just sent the package without that, but I added the first NOA with my case number, screenshot of the USCIS page saying that my case with WACXXXXXX was approved, and I also sent a letter from my embassy saying that my fiance application was approved and I could start gathering the documents for the interview.

    I was wondering if any of you have done the same...do you know if not sending the NOA 2 can be a problem? (I really don't get why they ask for that if we have a stamp saying K1 AND the K1 visa on the passport)

    woohoo! I've been watching your vlogs and felt very identified when you went to the mailbox and the letters hadn't arrived yet :P

    I know right? I didnt follow this community for the K1 visa, but it's really good to have ppl going through the same experience :) I will be checking everyday for the biometrics now haha In what step are you?

    Same with me! I regret it big time!! I don't know what I was thinking...worst mistake. I wish we would be able to still send it. But yeah, oh well. Now we're stuck here lol

    lol I know...I think because of christmas I've been missing my family and country SO MUCH. But I just pray to get the Residency quick and make a quick trip to Peru :') Being in the house for so long doesn't help either lol.

    Not to be a party-pooper. .. but you may run into difficulty (and you may not). A lot of ppl have been denied to change name b4 they have the EAD since the i-94 made them eligible for SSN under K1 category and that specific immigration document was verified but no document exists under the new name yet.... (it makes no sense to me!) Other ppl have had no problems. Just have it in the back of your mind in case they do say smth, that it's not all that unusual, so no need to be surprised in case they do tell you to wait.

    In any case, I hope it goes smoothly for you :)

    I think you know so much that you might help me with my doubts! I was wondering if it's okay to change my name AFTer I receive the residency...I didn't want to do it before because of this process and the different documents from my country with my "old" last name and whatsoever. Would I be able to do it later without problems? Thanks!

    OMG! I finally got NOA1 email. I'm so happy because I've been worrying for two weeks!

    Congrats!! I am still worrying lol but reading that it took 2 weeks for you, makes me feel better. I only have to wait one more week :'(

    I didn't start applying yet because I was worried that would happen. I was thinking about applying once I got the notification that the EAD has been approved, so hopefully by the time it's mailed here I'll be going through interviews. Did you apply for many?

    Dark Souls games are really hard aren't they? I remember my old flatmate raging super hard over the first game xD

    Answering my own question, now I see this

    Unacceptable Visa Classes

    The following visa classes do not prove legal presence, and are therefore not acceptable for learner's permit, driver's license, and Mass ID Card transactions:

    • B-1 through B-2 and B1-B2 multiple (this is tourist or business only)
    • C1 through C-3
    • D
    • NATO
    • W-B
    • W-T

    If a customer has a visa classification listed as not acceptable, he/she is not eligible for a Massachusetts learner's permit, driver's license.

    I entered in the country with a B1/B2 visa.... so I am not lucky... BUT I dont know because that is obviously because that visa is for short trips only perhaps the change of status process change things... What you think?.

    I was thinking about applying for something similar too because it is imposible to live in Florida without a car T.T .

    But I have no idea how to proof "residency" so I think I can't either :( The apartment complex where I live messed up some information and they can't add me as a resident.

    Which brings me to another question...How can I prove Residency to open a bank account? last time I tried was after a week of arriving to U.S. I showed my passport and my visa, and the bank said that they needed another ID document because they couldn't accept my visa (k1 nor the tourist one). They couldn't accept my foreign ID and the property where I live is not under my name...phone bills, electricity bills...none of them. Any advice? Btw, I don't know if it will be more difficult now that I am Out of Status since October :(

    I got my NOA1s and my biometrics letter in the mail today. Appointment is set for the 19th in Aurora :thumbs:

    Hello everyone! I sent my paperwork on Nov 21st via USPS and it arrived on Nov 26th. The check was cashed on Dec 2nd and even though I attached the G1145 I haven't gotten any notification through email or text message. Is it normal for them to ignore it? Just being paranoid. Thank you!

    Hello! I didnt see a reply so I wanted to let you know that I sent it the 16th and it arrived on the 21st. And finally today I just got the Notificatiom via email and text. So just be patient, they are still "on time"

    Question 15 in Form I-765 after visa k1 expired

    Hello, this is the first time writing in a form but I am really in need of an answer.

    I am filling my AOS and Employment Authorization after the 90 days of arriving. The question 15 for the I-765 is about the current Immigration status. I know that according to the sample here in Visa journey, I should put K-1. But I wanted to make sure because I saw other websites saying that because my visa already expired, I should write "Adjustment pending".

    I will be very happy if someone replies :)
