  1. related to my problem in getting an SSN , heres the link:

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=41307

i am getting married tomorrow and obviously we can try getting an SSN in another SSA office nextweek which is after the wedding , should i use single or married name??? will i have possible problem later if i use my married name??? what are the requirements then??? i am afraid they might tell me to get an EAD together with AOS by then.

any help will be appreciated, thank you in advance to all......

  2. thanks mdyoung and YuandDan , yes i will try the Yuba City Ca SSA branch, wish they know their job there compare to this people in Auburn CA, SSA Office. Now i need to wait until my fiance'/husband will get a day off since his company is busy and strict this time, he can only go with me around 2pm and beyond and Yuba City is much farther.....aaaahhhhh................i wanna pull all my hairs out. Gosh!!!

there was a 2 women ( i think 1 of them is the supervisor / head in that branch ) in SSA Auburn that faced me and both of them made us wait and they read something about k1 in the computer and in a pamplets, then after that one woman personnel said " i just read about k1 now and it says you need an EAD and i will give you the SSN" , she seems really not familiar with k1, maybe they don't handle k1 that much over that office. I never thought some of USA and in SSA Office worers/employees doesn't know their job. They doesn't have enough orientation on what they are doing.

    wish me luck!!!

    thanks

  3. hi there guys,

i arrived here in USA last Oct. 21, 2006 and my POE was SFO, getting married on November 11, 2006 , i went to SSA Auburn CA, branch today November 9, 2006 together with my fiance' , i handed them my passport w/ my visa and i-94 on it , i even brought my birth certificate , just in case they will look for it, but the woman there said they cannot give me a SSN coz im on k1 , so she said i need to get a EAD first before they can give me a SSN, i explained to them and show them the print out that i have from this website......

Aliens Work Authorized Without Specific DHS Authorization and K1 is there, heres the website........

    https://s044a90.ssa.gov/apps10/poms.nsf/lnx/0100203500

but still she is insisting to the max that i need the EAD and they will give me an SSN , so we went home , now im very confuse, should i get a temporary EAD at INS/DHS since im not yet married and we haven't filed AOS yet??? or should i just wait the EAD and AOS to be approved in few months before going to the SSA office in Auburn California???, i am hesitant to go back there actually coz the women personel was mean.

anyway, hope somebody can help me and give me some ideas about this, i doesn't care if i cannot work quickly though theres bunch of job around, but i just wanna follow the k1 flow chart coz if possible i don't want to have trouble in my legalization/documentation in here.

    thanks in advance.

  4. my newest neighbor born problem is the question of dental nature.

my fiance is now under the impression that her teeth need to be perfect , to pass the medical exam. i told her that is not the case ,but that i would check here for information. her problem is only 2 small cavities, which i told her we would deal with here.

    thanks to all.

    med. is sept. 28 --- interview oct.6

hi only communicable disease can cause problem , other than that no worries...

  5. the I-94 is the form that you fill out either on the airplane or at the POE...they will take half of the form, and staple the other half into your passport, where it should stay until your AOS interview.

there will also be a stamp in your passport, showing that you've entered and used your k-1 visa, but that is different from the I-94

    hope that helps!

    good luck!

    Thank You!!! Stay Happy...

  6. You can apply for them seperately, as long as you file the I-485 first.
is it possible that EAD can be approved and AOS is not???

Of course, assuming you get your EAD first. Of course if you have an approved EAD and they reject your AOS, your EAD will no longer be valid.

anyway what are the grounds in rejection of EAD, AOS and AP???

Not being married for the right reasons. I.e. you're supposed to love your spouse, not just be married to them so you can stay in the USA. If your marriage is real, you have no reason to worry.

thanks for the reply, i really appreciate it. stay happy....

  7. can i possible apply for EAD, AP, AOS , separately???

is it possible that EAD can be approved and AOS is not???

anyway what are the grounds in rejection of EAD, AOS and AP??? what will happen if rejected, going back in my country??? or is there really a high approval in this process???

hope you can enlighten me, any ideas you share will surely help since i am just going to start the whole process soon.

thank you in advance and GOD Speed..........

  8. I applied for my SSN after I got married (so I wouldn't have to change my name after marriage) and then applied for AOS/EAD/AP in my married name.

Based on your timeline I assume you applied for your SSN before December 2005 when SSA tightened up the rules for name changes and idenity documents, so if that's the case, what happened to you isn't really relivant

Hello there , i just wanna ask, which is better to apply an SSN as soon as i arrived in the USA and not yet married??? or to apply SSN after wedding day and used my married name???? can i apply AOS and EAD if my SSN is my maiden name???

You can apply before or after you are married, but people overall seem to have less problems applying with the maiden name before getting married. Plus waiting 10 to 14 days after you arrive to apply is OK as well.

What name is on your SSN record doesn't affect the name you use for the AOS and EAD card, nor do you even need an SSN to apply for AOS or an EAD card.

THANK YOU AS IN , THANK YOU....
