  1. Alright, back story first. Zoe the dog was adopted as an adult by my ex-husbands previous wife. When they split up Zoe stayed with him. When he and I got together she moved in with us. When we split up he left her with me. Alright, the dog hasn't had the easiest life...I'm totally ignorant as to her past..no idea how old she is etc. Even her breeding is a matter of debate..I think she's a border collie/austrailian shepherd mix..fairly large dog..she goes about 65 pounds during the winter, usually drops 5 or so during the hot months.

I know she's getting up there in years and has all the standard old age dog complaints. Her bladder doesn't hold as much as it used to, she limps after laying on the floor too long, and I suspect her hearing is starting to go.

Now for the question. I found a smallish(bigger than a pencil eraser, smaller than a penny) pink lump on her foreleg a few days ago..it doesn't seem tender, and is fairly firm. Yes, I know to take her to the vet. I'm wondering if this is most likely going to be a hefty vet bill in which case I need to try and guilt the ex into helping with the costs or if I should be fine(meaning under 100-150 dollars) Either way she's gotta go in but I really don't need a 500 dollar vet bill at this point.

FYI, I didn't ask to be left with the dog..it was either me or the pound..he didn't want her anymore, neither did his ex, thus the comment about the help with the vet bill.

  2. The roads are especially nutty up in your neck of the woods! Yeah, my brood is out the next 2 days too. They're all ticked off because they likely won't get a snow day out of the messiness. Since my work schedule is bizarre I'm usually set as far as sitters...unluckily my 8 year old is getting her bottom braces put on tomorrow so I had to wrangle some help with the other 4 for the afternoon as there is just no way they were going to sit for 60-90 minutes.

  3. Yep, The Inn is pretty famous around here. They've changed the weather to a few inches of snow and a couple of ice...the snow doesn't bother me so much as the ice. Not looking forward to work tomorrow morning. If this is your first snow event in the area make sure you have milk and bread...not because you'll be stuck at home, but because they'll sell out!

  4. -Putting your shoes on a table is bad luck

-If your right hand itches, you'll soon meet a stranger. If your left, money is coming.

-Cutting a childs hair before their first birthday is bad luck.

-If your ears feel hot someone is talking about you.

-If you a drop your fork company is coming.

-Moss only grows on the north side of trees.

-Women lose a tooth for every child they bear.

-If you have heartburn during your pregnancy your child will have lots of hair at birth.

-A pregnant woman should never raise her arms over her head as it wraps the umbilical cord around the baby.

-If walking on a deserted road at night and you get the feeling someone is folowing you, NEVER turn around as you'll see the Devil.

Can't tell I was brought up in the South can ya. (Stepdad was brought up on a farm and still believes most of this stuff.)

  5. -Have a pee without a kid knocking on the door/LOUDLY wondering where I am/just opening the door.

-Have a shower the same way.

-Bump into that snotty holier-than-thou girl I went to high school with(I heard she's working at Hooters)

    -Go whale watching.

  6. I honestly see both Obama and Clinton as long shots. Vice presidential material maybe, but not the head honcho.

He's the wrong color and was at one point the wrong religion. I just don't see how someone with any Muslim heritage is going to get nominated at this point. Geez, it was only 40 odd years ago that a Catholic was elected. Sadly, I don't think the America is ready to see any person of color in the White House quite yet...give it another 15-20 years.

She's....well...she's Hilary. Everything her husband did(or got accused of) in office is going to come back and bite her in the butt. And as before, I don't think America is quite ready for a female in the oval office.

  7. My last flight to the UK there was an infant..6 or 8 weeks old, I can't quite remember. Anyway, they had a little pull down bassinet(Flew British Airways). I believe the charge varies by carrier, I looked into it at some point, though I can't remember when.

  8. He spent oodles of time on the couch during his visits reading to them. Played board games(he doesn't like Trivial Pursuit btw, says it's too Americanized). He really enjoys cooking, and let them help in the kitchen. He talks to them online frequently. We were very lucky actually, he clicked with all of them really well.

  9. When dry my little girls hair is about shoulder length..when wet about mid back? I really truly appreciate all the tips...my younger sister had very tight curls when she was younger, our Mom chopped it short until sis was old enough to object...and yes, she dodges those pics.

Had an interesting happening this morning during our getting ready for school routine. My 8 year old has perfectly straight hair, it's almost waist length, thicker than mine *grumble* and platinum blonde. Lauren(8) announced she wants her hair to curl like Samanthas(4). Samantha later announced she wanted her hair to look like Lauren's. Told them both I'm not introducing any sort of high maintenance hair styles until they're old enough to get up early and do it themselves.
