  1. SO have discussed having it played at our wedding at some point....along with "Get here if you can' by Oleta Adams and/or 'Get to me' by Train...there are other songs of course...but one or more of those 3 are a definite.

  2. What in the world is up with all the off the shoulder/spaghetti strap/strapless dresses? Kudos to you ladies that can wear them..but I'm top heavy. SO and I are thinking an informal outdoor wedding in my backyard. I've been looking for a suitable dress for a month and nothing is making me happy. It either looks like it's for a granny(an old fashioned, blue haired, cane clutching granny) or doesn't have material on top to hide a decent bra strap. Admittedly I also want a long skirt as I have a rather massive scar down the front of one leg..but still. BLARGH!

    Ok, rant done for now.

  3. I haven't been on the via track that long, but we have been carrying on over 2 years long distance, and know we face about 6 more months apart.

No, I wouldn't change a bit of it. It's made me much stronger and more confident. It's made both of us much more mellow. Our communication skills are wonderful...well you get the idea. I wouldn't even move forward the 6 months much. He deserves the time to say good bye to people, places, and things he loves.

  4. Dress? I dunno....have a look around online, they make everything from traditional neck to floor dresses to low cut minidresses these days.

Make up and hair...if you want ideas on doing it yourself again, no help...I don't even own make up at this point, and my hair is constantly in a bun. Tip for someone else your going to let do it: only let someone with similiar style/taste do you this favor...otherwise you could very well end up pretty upset.

Shoes and lingerie...if you're going to be on a beach you want flats! I'd say some pretty sandals. Lingerie? Again I'd err on the side of comfort..if it's an informal/beach wedding you don't want to look all stiff and rigid...maybe a super nice matched set?

  5. I went for the short and sweet approach myself...figured they have enough paperwork to work through without reading a 2 page blow by blow account of our relationship.

S and I met through a mutual friend via the internet in 2004, and became fast friends. I visited the UK on July 30 2005-August 7 2005. It obviously went quite well, or I wouldn't be writing this now. He visited the States in March of 2006, I returned to the UK for a visit in July of 2006 and he is currently stateside to spend Christmas with me and my family and will be departing December 27th.

That's not it exactly, but pretty darn close...we did have supporting visa stamps and a couple of boarding passes, as well as his I-90(i think it is? that thing that customs puts in the passport) as he was here when we filed.

  6. Even the best surgeon can't install a lube system in a manufactured #######. Or make it bleed out once a month.

    Yodrak

It must have been a darn good Surgeon if they have been together 2 years and the boyfriend doesn't know. Or maybe he was a Virgin and had nothing to compare it to.

I'm never going to think of my girl parts quite the same way after that...sounds like a car.

  7. Something tis not right. I'm in Virginia, and was just served with papers yesterday regarding visitation for my kids(long story, my ex is a moron). They just taped the papers to my door! I DO know that per Virginia state law running an ad so many days in the persons last known location is considered 'notification'.

  8. To put a slightly different spin on things....

He gave me a gorgeous engagement ring...I love it. I'd love it if it were a ring pop in a flavor I don't like.

Now then, part of the reason I love it so much is because it's something I can look at everyday as a reminder of him during the immigration process. I felt like a heap of dung because I didn't do the same for him. It's silly, he dislikes jewelry in general..the type of band he would have worn is the type that we're going to purchase together for our wedding rings. I was actually point blank told to NOT buy him a ring(boy, he knows me really well) because of the reason just mentioned.

  9. Nope, no desire to be pregnant ever ever again. Heartburn, stretch marks, strange people coming up and grabbing your stomach(GEEZ I hated that one) and needing special yoga like skills to wipe your own bum.

THEN comes sleepless nights, ear infections, teething and that milk smell permeating everything you own.

After that, terrible 2's during which nothing under 4 feet high is safe.

Terrifying 3's to follow during which NOTHING is safe, at least not if you've got a climber.

Kids are great from the ages of 4 to 8 or so...then you start with the pre-pubescent mood swings.

None of mine have hit full throttle puberty yet and I'm not sure we'll all survive it.(By we, I mean they, cause I'm bigger than them) :hehe:

  10. My SO isn't planning on giving notice at work until his flat is sold(under contract? I can't remember the British phrasing). Not planning on putting the flat on the market until the visa is in his hot little hands.

  11. OK, to the first question, no. Just make sure it's all nice and legal.

As to the second...I honestly have NO idea. It seems as though your family size would be 2 however, as your soon to be ex doesn't live with you.

As for being self employed...I'm in the same boat so got myself a co-sponsor to be on the safe side. My perks are far fewer than yours, but I take a hit on my gross income due to a pretty hefty mileage deduction every year. Great for taxes, but stinks for filling out forms.

  12. We made toad in the hole during his last visit and I still can't believe the way the kids inhaled it! I don't think they chewed much at all...quite proud my first Yorkshire pudding turned out well.

Alright, so have sausage schemes, and access to football and rugby plotted. I suppose someone having a wonderfully easy way to watch cricket is too much to ask for? I admittedly haven't checked out ESPN for it yet as I still don't quite get it...almost, but not quite.
