  1. Hi all! I had my interview on June 11 and was approved in Mt. Laurel. Due to travel plans I told the officer that I couldn't take the oath that day and she was really accommodating and wrote down my return date so that she can get my oath ceremony scheduled accordingly. I haven't heard back since. When I log in to check my case status, the last thing I see is that my oath ceremony was canceled on June 13. What does this mean? I tried calling but it's impossible to get through to a real person. Any help would be appreciated!

Waaaa.. I think our cases were both transferred to MO from vermonth, right? I didnt get any new updates though 😩😩😩😩😩

But congratulations to you. I hope we are next 🤞

Yes!! I'm sure you are, we filed around the same time. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!!

Is everyone filing for naturalization right away? How is filing based on marriage different from filing after 5 years of residence, in terms of interviewing, length, etc?

  3. Just had our interview tomorrow and we got approved  Super easy interview. She asked for my husband's driver's license, my passport and driver's license, took my photo and my pointer fingerprints, asked the prostitution and murder questions, asked me if Montenegro was "in the country of Africa", and let us go. She didn't look at any photos or additional documents I brought so super happy about that total waste of paper...

Anyway, I had no idea that you have to mail back your EAD once you receive your GC.

Anyone still waiting for updates/interview dates/interviews?

ETA: I filed on 10/19, my EAD was approved on 12/18, and interview scheduled on 2/16

  4. Just checked my case status online, and our interview is scheduled for March 29! Our file date was 10/19 and I got my EAD/AP 12/28. Exciting!!! Do you suggest bringing additional paperwork? In my original AOS package, I didn't provide much more proof of marriage apart from our marriage license - so maybe the fact that I'm on his health insurance, or more pictures? What did the rest of yall do?

Aw thank you very much! :) Not at all, I'm in Digital Marketing/Advertising! I've got three 3 years of experience and a few internships, as well as my 4 year college degree! Honestly I was really worried about not having a lot of US work experience, but it really wasn't a problem at all!

HOW FUNNY!! I am trying to transition into Social Media Marketing and Content Creation! I did some work at home, which is a little over a year of experience, but I don't think it's really doing much for me. It's good to know that someone already managed to get a job, I was getting quite discouraged :)

    Hey,

Just thought I'd chime in here! I accepted a corporate job offer and start the week after next. They were confused about EAD at first but they just asked for the category my EAD was provided in, to verify that my GC was processing and after that there was really no issue. They just wanted reassurance that I wouldn't need sponsorship in the future, which I think is what most companies are concerned about! I also provided them with my NOA1 for my AOS just as further verification. There is a clause written into my contract which just states I need to prove my right to work in the US after the EAD expiry date kind of thing. As has been said above I think what scares employers more is that the EAD is only valid for a year and I totally agree, I think there is just a lack of understanding from recruiters but more senior HR people seem to know the ins and outs. Hopefully the next time around you don't have an issue, sorry they didn't give you the chance to explain!

CONGRATULATIONS!! If you don't mind me asking, what industry did you get a job in, and did you have a lot of relevant experience?

I really don't think this is legal. I don't have time to research it right now but please do it yourself or even talk to a lawyer if you can. Some of them have free consultations. Or call USCIS and ask.

I don't think it's legal either, but it seems that it's happened to other people before. I'm guessing it's just due to employers' and recruiters' ignorance and lack of understanding of our status. He did pry about whether I have a green card or not, but next time I'll definitely be more careful about how I share information about my status. It really shocked me that this was an issue, I thought the EAD would unlock all doors
