We just got the final case complete from NVC on Tuesday. Spoke with the representative and the case in queue for interview scheduling. It was surprising to hear you are given interviews in the order of case completion. So am blind as to when it will be scheduled. Actually after reading through most posts, it sounds like there is a chance it could actually roll until June for scheduling if other cases are fill the slots. This entire process is frustrating start to finish.  My plan was to go back and accompany him at the interview but I am not planning a vacation back until mid/end of June. Beyond frustrating. Maybe by some stroke of luck the interview will line up with  my planned vacation scheduled.

However, besides the waiting I will say everything has gone very smooth.

Patience is everything in this process.. Don't worry too much about how long it will take before you get the interview, be more concerned about getting everything you need in place before the interview. It sometimes take time as soo many people apply depending on which embassy you're applying.. You don't need to be there as I went alone. Just make sure he knows all the necessary details of the process and he should be good to go. Once again concentrate on getting it right and think less of the time. You'll be fine. Good luck

Well I called the NVC they said that the case was forwarded to the embassy therefore they had no answer to any of my questions. I called USCIS same answer embassy had the case get in touch with the embassy.

I emailed the embassy they replied they have not received the electronic file.

What is the electronic? My case was approved November 18th 2016, approval letter is valid for four month. Checking ceac travel website says case in transit?

Is it normal they still have not received the file after two months?

How do I know they have received the file?

Oh k. Just be patient. It can take up to 6weeks from when the case was approved by uscis to when it gets to the embassy. The caec tracker is usually accurate. keep monitoring it till it changes from transit to Ready. That means it has finally got to the embassy and then You can schedule an interview. Keep an eye on the email address you provided as well on the I129/130.. The instructions are usually sent there. It'll be okay as long as you have all the requirements in hand.. All it needs is patience.

Hey y'all here I am in desperate situation hope someone can shed light for me on my case. It was approved from USCIS, went through NVC, forwarded to the embassy in Dakar.

Never heard from embassy yet just went ahead read instructions on embassy website to schedule an interview. Fiancee done medical, made payment to the bank and received interview date of January 18th 2016 8am. On said date and time fiancee was there they let her through what seemed like the front desk her name was on a list, went through security into the waiting room with a number. When number was called they said she was not on the interview roster she provided payment receipt to no avail.

I contacted the website ais.usvisa-info.com and wrote to the embassy. Website response I went ahead of myself I should have waited until receipt of instructions from the embassy before proceeding now I have to wait for embassy to contact me which I think will never happened they always seem busy with something else that is not you.

Please what can I do at this point I have done all the steps only thing I don't have is the interview date and it seems like a gold mine to get it. Anyone know to get one?

    Hi.

From what I understand, you should wait for the instructions from the consulate which is sent via email. You cannot go there before they instruct you to do so. You can track your case online on the caec website. If it indicates that it is ready then it means the email had been sent to you. Then you can rebook the interview.

    Hi Gee S,

I hope that you will have it soon. It's a good thing that they have your passport and told you 2 weeks, which means they plan to get you the visa, if all checks out.  So they are just taking their time to finalize your file.

To note, for some embassies, either today or tomorrow is a federal holiday (Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday); for Algeria, they take it today.  So that slows down things a bit.

I know it's frustrating, but hang in there!  My fiance had an approved interview on Nov 28th and it took 45 days to get the visa issued, and we are still waiting for his passport to be sent to the courier for pick up.  I had to contact my congressman's office to get a reply on the status (I've posted elsewhere about that).  But hopefully yours will be processed, shortly.

    Keep us posted!  Best wishes!

    Khtak716

    Thanks for the input..

Ameen to the prayers.. Yes I assume they're doing some background checks.

It's definately frustrating but all we can do now is be patient. All the best to you too ?. Will keep you posted.

I found this definition of the 221g here:  https://dakar.usembassy.gov/immigrant_visas.html:

"At the end of the interview, you will be told whether you have established your eligibility for the IV [immigrant visa].  If you have not brought a required document such as a police clearance or your medical examination, you will be given a 221g letter with instructions on how to schedule a second interview once you have all of your required documents.  If you have not established your eligibility for an IV, your case will be referred to the consular section's eligibility review unit for further evaluation."

I'm not certain why they din't give you the slip at the interview, but your medical file is now under review, so I believe that's why it went into AP.  Hopefully you will hear back from them soon!

Thanks for the reply. It went to AP right after the interview. Then I explained that the medical wasn't ready by then and they asked me to bring my results the following Wednesday which I did. I was given the green slip immediately after I handed over my results starting that I should go back in 2 weeks. My passport was also retained.

    1. No personal experience, sorry. Much will depend on your relationship and the documents you submitted.  Common questions are about how you met, how often you have met in person and where, the petitioner's family (how many siblings/ kids, their ages etc) and general information that a bonafide couple would know, such as the fiance's favourite food, where they went to college, their job title and what they do at work, the name of the street they live on etc.

    2. There is no magic number.  A few photos of each time you met in person is good, and great that you have pics with friends and family too.

    Thanks for the assistance. Appreciated

You should go to your countries portal and read the Interview reviews to see what they say. Every embassy is different.
    1. In the guides are sample questions that you can look over. It's all about knowing each other. Anything and everything can be asked.

    2. 10 isn't very many. It's really about who the pictures are with. This is Africa its vital to have pictures of you with friends and especially family. Did you meet the family have pics with mom, dad, siblings? Those are the one that matters.

    Thank you. Appreciated

Hi Gee S., you can look at our timeline to follow our progress and any questions I would be more than happy to help. What I can say is be overly prepared and also be prepared to be put on AP as that seems to be their thing at this embassy. Just go over interview questions others have posted and be confident in your answers to the CO. I pray all goes well, be blessed.

    Momov31

Thanks for the help.. Went for the interview but my medical wasn't ready in time for the interview but it went well. The doctors office advised me to go ahead with the interview and collect the results right after the interview as that's the time the doctor will be in to seal the documents I collected from the other test locations. I was handed a 221g with only the medical field circled and asked to bring it on Wednesday at 9. I collected the results and will take it on Wednesday. She said it usually takes a week or a week and a half to get it processed after getting all the documents. Don't know what that means but anyway..

Hi all waiting on an interview date, did you setup an account to pay your fee? I ask because we setup an account, paid the fee at a bank in Senegal and then set a interview date. You can go to the embassy info page to check it out. I hope this helps. Be blessed

    Hi Momov31,

I assume you're applying for k1 visa. If so any updates if you don't mind. I am currently waiting on my interview next week. I'll appreciate any tips or ideas.

    Thanks in advance

  11. I'm pretty sure when he went to make a date, the most available ones were a couple weeks out.... If your fiance can't go to the bank maybe he could get someone to do it? I get why you wouldn't want to have to go twice..that's a lot of money. Also, I don't know what you're thinking for a second visit but I was *not* present for the interview. My fiance did everything independently between Dakar and Tambacounda.

Thanks a lot.. I have finally got to do the payment and have an interview date.. Now just getting ready for the interview. How it all goes well.. Hope you also had a positive outcome

  12. You have to submit the Ds160 so you can unlock the next step.

My wife and I had to fill out the Ds first and then get a bar code number, which we later use for the next step.

You have to submit it first if it allows you, then move to the next step which is payment, and then scheduling.

    Od0016,

OK thanks for all the info. I'll submit it tomorrow then.. But just to clarify one thing, it's possible to send the money to someone in senegal to do the payment once you complete these steps right?

  13. Do have any familly in senegal?

The payment is made through the bank. The embassy will provide you a a deposit slip with pin number. You just take it to the bank with the fees.

When My wife was aplying for nonimmgrant visa thats what we did. It should be the same way

    Od0016,

Yes I do. Maybe I can send them the money and they do the payment to the bank if that is accepted. please enlighten me further on this process. How do I get the deposit slip from the embassy and stuff.. It's really my headache right now. And sorry for disturbing.
