  1. Wow this thread got intense there for a bit. I am going to share my experience with you seeing that we both or I must be me and your sis in law have applied from the same county. My mother got critically sick in U.S. And she was on life support admitted in ICU for shy of a month. I applied with my youngest son 10 months old to go visit her, I was leaving 4 of my kids behind with my husband while I was gone. I had all the proofs. Anything you can think of, all sorts of doctors letters, hospital verification stating that my mother is critically ill with no chance of recovery and its best if all her family be next to her at this time as this will be her last time BUT I was denied!!! Yes they just denied me, didn't even look at my/our bank account statements, house/property papers, husbands business documents. Nothing, just said "i am sorry ma'am but we cannot issue you a visa at this time" and this is how I was not able to see her face one last time or attend her funeral (yes she did pass away the next day in the hospital RIP)

Anyhow the moral of the story is that no immediate relation or whatsoever can ever guarantee a U.S. Visitors visa, otherwise why would I be rejected, she was my dying mother and I was a daughter who wanted to see her mom one last time - valid enough in all the ways possible. However it's just pure LUCK, especially from Pakistan. I would encourage your sis in law to apply again and see what will be her luck this time but chances are slim, it's wise not to keep hopes up high especially after multiple refusals.

Good luck to her and your family.

  2. The true unfairness in the whole system.

The decision is down to the personal opinion of the interviewing officer on whether or not they trust the applicant.

Someone could walk in there, relaxed and confident, but with very few ties and get approved just because they appear trustworthy.

Someone else could go in to the interview in complete innocence but appearing uneasy and jumpy and be denied.

I could imagine that Alisha probably attended her interview understandably distressed by her mothers situation and desperate to be able to see her.

While common sense would tell you this is the way you'd expect someone to behave, to a suspicious CO it could just look like desperation to get to the US.

The B-1/B-2 system needs an overhaul to reduce abuse of the system and allow more approvals.

Or at least an even playing field rather than just how a guy behind a desk is feeling that day.

Yes you are absolutely correct, I was desperate, nervous, jumpy and tears were floating in my eyes and not pity seeking tears but more of worrisome tears for my mothers declining health and the fear of me not being able to see her alive and sadly that's what happened. And I am sure the CO just wasn't able to relate with me at that moment of Maybe he did think about all of those people who have misused this system and the past and was hesitant. I don't hold a grudge against the process/system but just feel very sad for myself that I wasn't given an honest chance to see my mother face one last time.

It's been a week since she passed away and she has been buried and the funeral has been processed however my heart is dying to visit her grave and cry begging her to forgive me for not coming to see her when she was taking her last breath but I am so afraid to apply again and face the same refusal, I am afraid I won't be able to recover from another refusal especially after the CO finds out that my mother passed away after I was denied and u wasn't given a fair chance to see her and yet again he decides to refuse me on the same basis, what will I do then? And how will I move on with my life?? I wish there was any other way I could apply or hire an attorney who could convery my genuine feelings and motivations to the CO so I would allowed visitation my mothers grave atleast.

  3. Just a perusal of VJ will find many abuses you would not think were possible.

This is beyond my level of understanding, I have no whatsoever intent to immigrate not at all especially in these circumstances. I wish the CO had looked at the fact the my sister o has been a USC for past 15 years did not file a petition for me was enough evidence that me or my family do not intend to immigrate.

I am so heartbroken, yes I do Wish to apply again but I'm afraid they will not see my supporting documents again just like they didn't even bother to take a glimpse this time.

  4. Im very sad to announce that my visa was rejected, my heart is shattered to million pieces, I wasn't asked for any documents and the interview lasted merely a few seconds and the CO said I'm sorry I hope your mother gets better but at this time we can't issue a visa for you, I couldn't even question as I was crying.

As I got out of the embassy and turned on my phone I was informed that my mother has just passed away in the ICU I felt like the earth and sky have shattered into a million pieces and I am going to be drowned, I wanted to run back to the embassy and beg the counselor to please let me go for her funeral so I could see her face one last time.

Please tell me if I should apply again with new evidence of her death and what will my chances be? I am so lost and nervous that I truly don't know what is the right step for me at this time.

Thank you all and please pray for my mother

  5. The wedding post was an interloper.

Most travel Insurers would be looking to gte her mother repatriated asap to minimise hospital costs in the US. Even an air ambulance would be much cheaper than an extended hospital stay.

You mean air ambulance my mother back to Pakistan?? But as per my sister they added her to their family's existing medical insurance plan right when she arrived so she isn't a public burden and yes even though my mother eventually wants to be buried in her home country next to our dad but that's a discussion for later
  6. I'm confused, your first thread said it was due to your mother falling ill whilst on vacation to see your sister, then your other thread said it was to visit your mother who is sick and you sister and parents live in America, and then another thread says you want to visit to attend your sisters wedding. Which is it?

With lots of family in the us and they know the wait is a long time for married daughters and sisters of us citizens they might very well suspect you of trying to circumvent the wait by using the visitor visa to move there, especially if other members of your family have already done so. Leaving kids and a husband behind doesn't mean much as people do this all the time, lots of parents on here move to the us first then send for their children later and I have seen it happen with spouses as well.

Sorry if you are confused, the wedding post was not mine however my sister lives in U.S. And she invited my mom over to live with her, hold on maybe I am saying it wrong. She filed for my moms I130 based on which she went to US and unfortunately soon after she arrived to US in 2 months she got sick and is currently admitted in icu with a respiratory failure and doctors say it doesn't look good.

Anyhow we have no intention of migration, my sister never applied for our family and I just want to get advise on fasted route to obtain so I can visit my mom before the situations gets worse.

Hopefully I made it clear now :)

  7. I'm pretty sure the husband cannot go to the interview with you unless he is also an applicant. :( Sorry, hadn't thought about the problem of intent. I wasn't trying to imply that your husband lie, I just thought it might be good for him to also have a visa in case he did change his mind and want to join you as a back up plan. That was what I meant by he isn't required to visit the US, as people have plans that change all the time.

I think if you get a B2 approved it won't be a problem for your kids to also get them. They are dependent on you after all. It says here on the Pakistan US visa site:

So they won't even allow him to go inside with me if he isn't applying for visa? How will I be able to show/prove that he is paying for my trip if he isn't allowed inside? Shall he write a letter saying that he will pay for my trip?

Also now I'm confused, if he won't be allowed to come along will the CO accept the asset, financial and deeds that are on his name alone only as my strong ties to Pakistan? I'm afraid not :/ so the only thing presentable is maybe the birth certificates of my kids and should I get their school verification letter also or not needed?

  8. So I've been a housewife ever since I had kids, I used to be a school teacher before. Anyhow so I have 5 kids and I am busy taking care of them and home so obviously no career ties to Pakistan?

Our house and commercial business along with car is al under my husbands name, he supports me and my kids. The only strong ties I have with Pakistan is my kids and my husband if you look at it - will taking my kids birth certificate along with my marriage certificate be enough to prove strong ties??

Since all the property, accounts and assets have my spouse name on it should be be present with me at the interview and physically say that he will be paying for the trip or it will be known to the CO that obviously I have 5 kids with the spouse and he is sole provider so he will pay for my trip??

Just trying to gather all ideas before hastily applying and getting denied because I am a simple housewife :/

  9. Of course your husband could apply with you and get the visa and simply not go if he needs to stay for work. It's not like he would be required to the US if he had a visa. So that's an option as well. He'd still have to pay the $160 fee but if it increases the chances of getting you and your kids a visa it might be worth it.

I don't really know if one or another would be better, but if you husband applied and said he was paying for you and the kids, it's much stronger than you saying your sister (who's living in the US) would pay.

So if my husband applies with me do you think he can truthfully say to CO that I am just applying with the wife and kids however me and kids will not be going with her for the trip?? Or will that sound like future intent??

Another scenario - if husband just goes with me to the interview and say he is paying for trip for me and 2 younger kids while he stays back with older ones since they in school sounds better in my opinion??

Let's say I get the b2 visa, can my kids under 14 get their b2 as well since I got one already or they have to make a separate appointment for interview??

  10. I am in a delimma. I have 5 younger kids ages 12 years to 1 year, I want to go visit my sick mother who lives in USA with my sister. I have never been to a foreign country or applied for visa before so this will be my first time and I need some advise please.

My husband cannot come along at the moment because of his job so I am planning on taking 2 of my younger kids and going to apply. My question is it better if the whole family applies together or if I just apply with the little kids? im just trying to weigh our options as to which way sounds better?

Also one more question about funding/sponsoring trip. I will be living at my sisters house for 3 weeks for food and guest housing if from her however my husband will be paying for airline ticket, in this case who should I say is sponsoring my trip??

    Thanks for helping

  11. I am 38 married with 5 kids and spouse living in Pakistan. My mother went to USA to visit my older sister who is a U.S. Citizen and resides there, however my mother got critically ill and is now on life support in ICU and the doctors suggests/advise for family members to be with her.

What kind of visa should I apply to visit my sick mother? My sister send al the hospital verification along with doctors letters and pictures of her On ventilator machine, will these documents help?

I have never visited to any foreign country so this will be my first interview. Should I interview with my husband and kids together to visit my mother and kids grandmother or should I apply alone and take my youngest kid with me only? My youngest is a breast fed some has to come along.

Thank you for your help/suggestion or advise.
