Kim&Jos got a reaction from EmmaGrayshon in N-400 October 2016 Filers
Hi cdneh, I'm not so sure about the timeline. I read the August thread and one member sent his/her application on 8/29 but he/she is considered Sep filer because his/her NOA1 is 9/07.

Kim&Jos got a reaction from Duy Nguyen in F1 student leaving while country while AOS
As others have said, she is adjusting status and no longer an F1. I doubt that CBP would even let her in under F1 status
She can always find a part-time job to help out financially while going to school. In the worst case scenario, if she decides to quit, I don't think it'll affect her AOS.
I can't say anything about using AP to enter the US since I've never done it. Probably others with more experience will chime in. However personally, I wouldn't leave the country unless it's a necessity.
Where is she now with her application?

I went to a local Passport Acceptance Facility (USPS Post Office). Below is a link that you can use to search for the one that is most convenient for you.
https://iafdb.travel.state.gov/
Just put in your zip code and it'll give you a list of close by facilities.

I chose standard processing time and it took 6 business days to receive my passport.
I sent my application on May 19 in the afternoon, didn't pay any extra fee, just $110 for the passport book and $25 for the execution fee, $135 in total.
They finished processing and sent back the passport on May 26 and I just received it today May 30.

You're the only one that will be interviewed. Your husband will wait outside in the waiting room if he comes.
Many people suggested that for people applying under 3 year rule, it is recommended to have the spouses with them even though spouses are not permitted in the interviewing room. Also many people were fine with going there alone. So I guess if your husband cannot come, there is nothing you can do.
Don't stress about it too much. And good luck.

Kim&Jos got a reaction from Auds in Help and advice please
Have you considered about moving back home? Can you transfer? If not, how far are you from finishing your program? What was your initial plan? Going back home or staying there in Dallas?
I don't want to take anyone's side but you have to think about her too not just your ambition. You're saying she is completely ignoring your "educational future and career prospects". What about you completely ignoring her thoughts and feeling? Moving is a big change, especially moving from where you were born and raised.
My husband got a job out of state and I had to give up my job in Boston to be with him. Things didn't work out and we ended up going back home in 3 months. I was miserable during those 3 months. Not knowing a single soul, all I did was hanging around, applying for jobs, taking walk, cooking and waiting for him to come home every night. Of course I wasn't born in Boston yet moving to a different place still had that much effect on me, considering your spouse being relocated from a place she has called home her whole life.
What I'm saying is if you truly love her, you do anything to be with her and make things work.

Kim&Jos got a reaction from Shezi in N-400 October 2016 Filers
I didn't compare my timeline with other people from different FO. I was comparing it with other applicants from Boston FO just like me. I know tons of applicants from other FO are still waiting like cdneh and Shezi.
When we first applied for N400, we were told that we would be served according to our priority dates. But obviously, it wasn't the case as many applicants got their interviews after me had already become USC while I was still in-line for oath and of course I'm talking about Boston FO. I just wish that USCIS would be more transparent and consistent with their policy and procedures. At Boston FO, when applicants are approved, some of them are given the Oath letters right after but many are not. And those that are not have to wait longer than those that are despite being interviewed earlier. I guess the FIFO policy doesn't apply to USCIS.

Kim&Jos got a reaction from KRS2017 in I have naturalization next week I need help
On the application, for Part 1. Information about your eligibility, did you choose 1. Have been a PR of the US for at least 5 years? or 2. Have been a PR of the US for at least 3 years and have been married to and living with the same USC spouse for at least 3 years?
You are qualified to apply under 5 year rule. If you chose 1, I'm not sure why the appointment letter said "naturalization based on marriage to USC". Because you've been a PR since 12/2011, your past and current marriages don't have anything to do with your naturalization.

My way of memorizing them is: We have 2, 4, 6 for how long they are elected for. Senators start with an S so we elect them for Six years. President is 4 years. So the remaining 2 years will be the Representatives

Kim&Jos got a reaction from Sud Yaud in N-400 October 2016 Filers
It went well. The interview was scheduled at 3pm. I got there at 2:35 and didn't get called in until 3:40.
I noticed some people came in after me but still got called earlier. Probably their IOs finished other cases faster.
My IO was neither pleasant nor unpleasant. She was kind of neutral. When I got into her office, she had a big binder of all my paperworks on her desk.
The interview itself was approx 20mins from start to finish. We started off with a little chit chat about the weather. Then she asked me to give her my GC, passports, and driver's license to make copies.
After that we proceeded with the English and Civics tests.
She gave me a piece of paper and asked me to read "Where is the White House?" then another piece of paper and asked me to write "The White House is in Washington DC." She then asked me 6 questions as follows:
1> What is an amendment?
2> Who vetoes bills?
3> To which do we show loyalty when we say the Pledge of Allegiance?
4> Who did we fight in WWII?
5> What is the Supreme Law of the Land?
6> What is the capital of your state?
Then we went over my N400, made some adjustments. She asked for more evidence of my marriage. I gave her a recent Car Lease that we just co-signed. She also took my 2015 and 2016 Tax and Account Transcripts. I reached out and almost gave her more paperworks then she said: "That's all I need."
Then she gave me form N-652 and said: "Congratulations! I just approved your case. You should expect to receive your oath letter in 2-3 weeks."
I shook her hand and thanked her. She then showed me the way out.
I was probably one of the last people that got interviewed yesterday since when I walked out, they were already closed.
One more note, during the time that I was there I didn't see anyone getting their oath letters right after the interviews. They all went straight to the door when done.

Kim&Jos got a reaction from MyJourney in Sign your name on the light section of the photo?
You must have requested a name change.
I just got my Interview yesterday and the IO asked me to sign my name in the light section of the photo. It is the front of the picture. Sign it from left to right.

Shirezu, according to the USCIS website,
"You may file Form N-400 ninety (90) calendar days before you complete your permanent residence requirement if your eligibility for naturalization is based upon being a:
Permanent resident for at least 5 years; or Permanent resident for at least 3 years if you are married to a US citizen" I used this calculator https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/dateCalculator.html to determine that my earliest accepted filing date is 9/27/2016.
I filed my ROC on 9/27/2015 as well.
