The 330 day test is for any period up to the date your spouse left Canada. So for example, if he came to the US of August 1, 2017 they could use the period of August 2nd 2016 - August 1, 2017 to qualify for the 330 days. It does not have to be a full tax year, but it has to be within the last tax year and should cover a period of at least 330 days going back.

In my case the foreign tax credit exclusion was more beneficial (I ended up goign TurboTax Deluxe). Try both options and see what's best. Excluding income will not eliminate the tax burden entirely, but reduce it significantly.

Can confirm - did the exact same thing (Edmonton actually has a special station for document processing). Paid the fee and walked home 15 minutes later with the necessary document. I believe the requirement is such that the document needs to list that CPIC database was checked and no hits came back. If it returned something - a fingerprint check through RCMP is required.

    Hi everyone,

Just a heads-up about my myUSPS Informed Delivery experience (pun intended). My card was approved on June 6th and  marked as "Mailed" on June 9th (Friday). MyUSPS did not show any tracking numbers through the weekend. I called USCIS on Monday asking for that tracking number after speaking to Tier 2 (75 minute callback wait time at 8 AM PST) and was told there is none since it was not mailed yet; I should give it a couple of more days until it gets mailed.

On Tuesday  (June 13th) while checking the mail, low and behold - a USPS priority mail envelope with my EAD in it, and still nothing in the myUSPS dashboard. Now, since we know it's a 2 business day delivery slot I highly doubt it was mailed sometime Monday and delivered by Tuesday noon, so I guess it was submitted on Friday and interestingly enough USCIS did not have up to date information about the delivery when I called. I may be wrong though, but just food for thought.

Moral of the story - your mileage may vary. Good luck everyone waiting, and congratulations to those whose cases got approved.

Just got an update that my husband's  EAD was approved and they are processing his card! No expedited services or anything!  MMaybe this means we will see more approvals soon for everyone else!
