  1. hello guys,

would just like to tell you all the gist of our story,

    any thoughts on this -

I had my approval last Sept.8. Thing is, I was not able to hand over my old passport which had my valid B1/B2 visa during that time because of being soo elated..(I know, I know) - I tried to go back in after the interview as I remembered it thrice but 3 different people turned me down, saying that they would just "cancel the visa in the system". tsk.

I mailed them the old passport when I received a notice from them Sept. 13 on that same day. I was on AP from this day until now..

I had a long scheduled trip abroad last Sept. 22, so I needed to pull out my new passport, and sent back Sept. 26. (Initially I thought I didn't have to deal with this as I expected the visa to be issued before the 22nd, given that it was around 10 working days from my interview date.

---But my CEAC status still has not changed. Last time it was updated was on the 21st. My son who was on the petition but will not be applying has his CEAC updated every other day.

Does it really take days for a consulate to check/view your application after they received your pending documents? I know we need to be patient and wait it out, it sometimes is just hard to figure out that at least they would have looked at it by now..

    READY (check back after 2 business days) - 09/08/2016 - 09/12/2016

    AP - 09/13/2016 - current (updated only last 9/13 and 9/21)

I wished I knew how things are on their side of the fence.. it renders me helpless to be absolutely clueless about what is going on.. **sigh**

    :sleepy:

  2. I feel for everyone here that's going thru the same sort of wait...

like Anitafeliz, I feel like I'm going thru unnecessary wait just because of the bureaucracy, and let's face it, the magnitude of work that they seem to have. Victims of circumstance I guess. It has been only a week in AP for me, but to see nothing has been done to your case, no one hat can answer to it or find some accountability you just can't help but to let off some steam, right? You can't really compare..

I personally feel that having a previous NIV visa had hurt me in this process inadvertently because now it is causing me delays. Now they have my previous Visa to cancel, and my K1 to issue, which I know might not seem gargantuan like some of the folks here, but you can ask yourself really, is it difficult to do, that it would have to take a week? Maybe if there were some promptness on the other side of the fence then everyone's wait would be much shorter, considering some of the cases in AP have been pretty much straightforward.

@sadamevans, based on your experience checking on the status, does it change even if it is beyond working hours Philippine time? I just read from a post somewhere that an applicant had hers changed like, 2am.. funny thing is my son that's supposed to be with me on this application but won't has his updated every single day-and mine's stuck in the 14th.

  3. just be mindful of any cultural differences you two have.. like what was mentioned, respect will really go a long way. You both will feel the "nerves" the first time out but it is OK, think of what you two share in common that brought you in to this stage of your relationship.

you are also "courting" the family of your girlfriend, striking a balance between being yourself and putting your best foot forward will help. lol

also-make sure you enjoy the USA too.. :)
