No, the only parts that have been paused are the ones that require in-person meetings.
well that's a relief I guess. we're still within the window so I'm not frantic yet, but it's still not a very comfortable situation for anyone in this position right now ;;

it's been a while since I posted but after yesterday's
sh!ttweetstorm i figured i'd check in on my favorite forum. We filed in April 2019 for ROC. I just checked and the last time our case status was update was May 9 2019 for fingerprints added.
No movement since then. Expiration of extension letter isn't until October, but I was assuming all USCIS processes had halted since March - is that not the case? People are still getting their cards?

Hi everyone, I hope you are all still following this board!! We were married this past weekend and now onto AOS!!! I printed out all the forms (phew) and I am just wondering how much "proof of marriage/relationship" evidence you all sent in with the application? Or will that wait for the greed card interview?
Thanks!!
hiya! Congratulations!! To file the AoS all I submitted was the marriage certificate. I believe all the "proof" comes in later during the removal of conditions.

How is it the certified copy of marriage certificate, please? where do we get it? The judge told us he will mail to us the original
Tasha
Depends on your state i guess, our judge said that too, but the county clerk said he was wrong. CA can only get certified copies of our certificate from the county clerk directly in the office, and only in the county where the cert was issued. The original is sent to Sacramento and we never see it. Luckily we didn't have to wait for them to process anything, we just went in and they gave them to us in like 10 mins

How many people have started their AoS?
We're working on it now and hope to have it sent off by the end of this month. The guide from JV doesn't say to include proof of your relationship for this part. Do we only need it for the interview? I'd love to front load this position like we did for the K-1.
We just included a certified copy of the marriage certificate, that's all they need. You might be thinking of "removal of conditions" which is in 2 years! AoS is just to get the 2-year conditional green card and Employment Authorization.

I just got my Ohio driving license- thought i might have been told to come back with the proper paperwork as when reading up on recent ones they said you require your EAD to get license. I only had my i-797 for AOS, SSN in maiden name, passport with the K1 visas in it. At least i have a photographic ID now while I wait for green card. The driving test wasnt that bad actually all over in 10 mins.
Holding my breath for my husband's; we just left the DMV, they said they may not approve the application til after he gets his EAD or GC but they let him take the test. How quickly after taking your test did you get your license?

Tasha...so happy you're preparing for AOS. I might have questions. Because I'm in Los Angeles, our wedding certificate was supposed to arrive within 4-6 weeks (of course, it didn't), so we had to go pick up a copy. We're assembling our packet tonight.
Good luck everyone.
Sooo we learned today they don't mail your license at all! They mail the original to Sacramento and we never see it. Only certified copies can be obtained and only from the office in the county you married- which is annoying, because we married in Ventura County and have had to make the 150mile round trip 3x to get ours, and it made us miss the 23rd deadline ; ;
-
Congratulations!
SSN is easy, go to the happy SS office, take a copy of his I94, passport & fill in the form - in theory a nice, helpful person who knows their job will behind the glass and the process will are about 10 mins
Yeah actually, Alex's experience was definitely similar to this! We printed everything before going, he was done in like 20 mins, and they said it would take about 10 business days to process. Will update when it's here.
Congrats JFH, hopefully your flight was quick and quiet and you're happy with your hubby glad yule to you tomorrow~

BUT that's the only time I ever saw a rat in Seattle... unless you count some of the iffy dates I went on... >.>

WOW!!!!! Married!!!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tasha
may I ask who paid for his car? and I am complaining all the time, I am helping paying for visa spending to my poor Nigerian, lots of spending, ouch
thank you!
He paid, he had a nice sports car that he sold in the UK and a Jeep he restored and sold to his uncle, so he had a bit of cash that we transferred. We used Transferwise, it was super simple and super cheap. I've been paying for all the little things since he moved though, we can't add him to my credit union until he gets an SSN.
-
Honestly, I've been getting ready for him to arrive since we submitted lol. I've cleared dresser and closet space, got him a house key and US cell phone (and set it up with close family numbers and pictures of his family and us when I was visiting him in Morocco), cleaned the house, setup a profile for him on Netflix and the computer, got him his own stocking for the holidays and his first tree ornament, I've found a local halal butcher (two actually) and a store that sells items from Morocco and the middle east that he might like, this weekend I've been baking goodies for him and the family (over 300 cookies so far and 5 large containers of fudge), and we have a big family Christmas event on Saturday where he'll get to meet my family in-person and not just through Skype.
I also asked other members of VJ for ideas and got some good ones like making maps of the local area, showing him where the library is so he can read if he wants, taking him shopping after he gets in to get some of his favorite foods and get him out of the house, and setup Skype times with his family so they can talk often.
I did all this too!! it really helped when he got here to have space in my closet and dresser we also went out and bought him a car after getting married on Saturday.
sign me up for that fudge, please!!

Im on the same boat! Question, for the interview/affidavit of support, what kind of documents do i need?
how many years of W2?
do I need bank statements of how long?
anything else?
Depends on the stringency of your embassy. I submitted 2015 tax transcript, a pay stub, and a letter of employment stating i was full time and what my salary was.

I have a question regarding marriage once my fiancé enters the US.
What kind of documentation do we need for us to get married?
To my understanding, we need Birth Certificate and her Police record.
Am I missing anything else?
Thank you very much in advanced!
We just picked up our marriage license, all he needed was his passport.

I usually find the cheapest flights going straight through the airline
-
Congrats!!!
Mine changed to Issued on Wednesday, and he got the pickup email on Friday. Had the visa in hand Monday.
AP-> Issued was longer, nov 25 to nov 30. But i assumed that had to do with the 221g processing.

Congratulations everyone!
Alex is flying in tomorrow

We've FINALLY gotten an update on our status. Fiancé's interview was Nov 7th and we've been waiting and waiting for ages for it to say something other than READY for interview. Today the status chanced to Administrative Processing and both the case date and status date changed today.
That means they will issue his visa soon, correct? They've had his passport for almost a month and it's driving us crazy!
It says Non Immigrant Visa now right? Ours said that for about 3 full days before changing to Issued. Good luck!
-
Visa and Passport in hand! Now the wait until he can fly out here Good luck to the rest of you for a speedy journey!
Heya, how many days after changing to "Issued" did you receive your visa? And did you use pickup from depot or delivery by courier?
-
Good luck and best wishes! Especially on your visit to the States- bring as much as you can to prove ties back home but you should be fine.
Also recommended, get all your vaccines done before your medical!
-
Can you be on disability and still be approved for K1 visa? Will disability benefits make the process harder?
Thank you in advanced
You will probably need a cosponsor for the affidavit of support once you reach the embassy interview, unless you make above the poverty threshold on disability. It is rare for a case to be denied with a cosponsor but it did actually just happen. That will be your only hiccup.

in Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion
Posted
so i realized I originally posted in the April thread but we actually filed in March... 22nd. Only action since was fingerprint update on May 9. No RFE or anything. Technically letter doesn't expire until 10/06 (and lol thanks EU travel ban we can't go anywhere anyways) but... anyone else in this boat?? (Filed in CA).
