  1. Does anyone have an experience traveling outside the US on an expired green card? We received the letter that his green card has been extended 18 months while they decide if he is eligible for the removal of conditions. But the green card still has a date of September 2019. We are working on planning a trip to Europe and want to know if they will still view him as a US resident? Please tell me about your experiences.

First time posting in this thread, but our case was recently updated to "Case Is Ready To Be Scheduled For An Interview" as of September 19th.

    - USCIS received our case July 2nd (though we mailed it in June).

    - Biometrics appointment was completed July 24th.

    - Case Is Ready To Be Scheduled For An Interview on Sept 19th.

From looking at the spreadsheet (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Id1duRRByZHJmhEzl9N25GqwzcnUyLCR4e4N9W6zGLg/edit#gid=0) it looks like most people receive the interview notification 1-2 months after their case is updated to "Case Is Ready To Be Scheduled For An Interview" and the interview occurs about 1 month later. This is good for us as we're currently traveling and won't be back home for another two weeks. I'm guessing no one's heard of anyone who received their interview within two weeks of their case being updated to "Case Is Ready To Be Scheduled For An Interview"?

From what I've read, that would be super, super fast. I was a bit scared to go on our two week trip in August because I thought we might get a biometrics appointment then. But we still haven't gotten one. You just have to go on with life and re-schedule if need be. But I would think a couple of months would be more realistic.

My husband’s has been almost 40 days and no word on biometrics yet. So I’m not sure what’s going on.

I'm the same. I mean, no problem, I wouldn't mind skipping the biometrics. But why do they take a biometrics fee from everyone if not everyone is required to do one? It would be nice to be able to see my status. I will check out the myuscis page, though I'm pretty sure I tried it a month ago.

I mailed my packet on June 18th, USCIS received on June 19th and I received NOA hard copy on June 28th. I received my Biometrics appointment letter on July 12th and my Biometrics Appointment is on July 22nd.

Interesting. I haven't gotten anything yet. And when I try to call in, they don't want to give me any information unless my husband is home....I guess I'll wait in suspense until he stops working 13-14 hr days.

    What's wrong with USCIS?

    Package received on 6/28

    Check cashed on 7/5

I waited all day on friday for the texts....it never arrived.

I had a hunch to go and check the mailbox. Lo and behold, my extension letter was there waiting for me.

Still, no text from USCIS. My receipt number says YSCXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.

I tried to track it via USCIS app and it says invalid receipt number.

Am I living in a parallel universe?

I called in. Apparently, they have been having issues with the tracker since December. You just have to call for updates, I guess.

I just realized that my lawyer filed my forms at the wrong office. My package was mailed and received directly at my local office on June 14th. On the uscis website it looks like it should have been sent to Dallas TX. It's been 3 weeks and I haven't received a receipt notice nor was the check cashed. I'm freaking out. What should I do?

    Sue your lawyer.....

You shouldn't have to do anything if you're paying him to take care of it. But, I would probably call and see if they can locate your case. If they have no record of it, I would cancel that check and mail a new case to the correct center.

I was a May filer but my package got rejected so I had to refile and now I guess I'm a June filer.

I got my NOA on June 17th, check cashed June 13th. Mine is a LIN, Nebraska service center.

Until now nothing in the mail for biometrics yet. I wonder how long does it take to get the biometrics notice?

Why did your package get rejected?

  8. PS. For those who are having trouble checking their status online, I called in. They said they've been having trouble with the system since December, though it was fixed, but it's not. She couldn't tell me anything about what it said because my husband was not present (anyone can check a status online with the number, but apparently on the phone, the number isn't enough). She did say I would receive a biometrics letter in the mail, usually with a month of when the case is received. She also said (we have a two week trip coming up in August) that they can reschedule biometric appointments no problem.

  9. Okay, have a laugh at my freak out moment. I got the mail today and saw something official looking from the government. Of course, I tore into it first....and it was a check...for about $150....I was like....what? Are they refunding us biometrics? No, that was only $85. Did they not accept our application and just refund us part of it? I have absolutely no precedent on which to base this. I am scanning the check carefully, looking for clues. And then I see....it's a tax refund. Yeah, I've never had one of those before....

Has anyone got an error message when trying to add their receipt number to their "My Cases" in USCIS online? I got a text with my receipt number on 06/28, but when I try to add the receipt number to "My Cases" I get this error message:

"Validation error: You are attempted to add a receipt number that does not exist in My Case Status. Please check your receipt number and try again."

Is it because it's too soon?

I am getting this message. I got the letter (not a text), and it is dated June 24th. I received it the 26th.

Has anyone else already gotten their biometrics appointment?  We filed first week of June, credit card was charged the 7th, we got our receipt and 18 month extension the following week and he is going to Charleston on Tuesday, July 2 for his biometrics appointment.  I'm (happily) surprised how quickly this is all going.

Not yet. I'm hoping we don't have to have one. I read somewhere that not everyone does. Is that true? Also, how did you receive notice that you had receive a biometrics appointment?

Before then end of the 18 month extension, you can go to a local USCIS office to get a 1 year stamp in your passport.

That's Potomac Service Center. Try creating an account on USCIS and check from there. Alternatively, you can also check your receipt number using USCIS Case Tracker App

Thank you both for your answers! By local office, do they mean the place where he got his biometrics done the first time? It was less than an hour away.

Tanish, how do you know it's Potomac. I do have an account, but it's not recognizing it. I may just give it a few days then try checking it.

How would she be forced to remain in her job?

You are paying for the application fee, a present.

It's kind of like a scholarship to the university, but the deal is that if she remains in the job for two years, not only will she be paid a regular salary, but they will also pay off all of her student debt (university costs). So, no they won't handcuff her and bring her there, but it's a contract that's not supposed to be broken.

There are 2 different accounts on 2 different USCIS portals for me to track the petition.

    1. https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/displayLogon.do - which shows my status as "Case Was Received" on June 19, 2019

    2. https://myaccount.uscis.gov/ - which shows the same USCIS tracking number with same status as "Case Was Received" on June 24, 2019

The only difference is I was unable to track my application on (2) before June 25, 2019. Is anyone else facing the same issue? This will be more clear after I receive my NOA, but just wanted to point out the discrepancy.

I'm not sure how you can view any sort of status before receiving an NOA. How do you know your case number?
