  1. my wife is in the phillipines and im starting my journey to petition her via I-130. i am in california.

on question number 22 states "your relative is in the united states and will apply for adjustment of status to that of a lawful permanent resident at USCIS in ______________________? should i answer this or leave it blank since she is in the philippines at this time.?

then the continuation statement is, if your relative is not eligible for adjustment of status, he or she will apply for a visa abroad at the American consular post in _______________________?

should i answer Manila, phillipines since my wife is in the philippines?

guys forgive me for asking so many questions, i appreciate any help.

    lav you guys.

    thanks.

  2. This form is used for more than petitioning for a spouse, it can be used for brother, sister, mother, father, so the question about relationship through adoption is a legitimate one could be you are filing the petition for a brother or sister.

    As for question 15,

If you look carefully at the form you will notice that the info on page 1 is organized into 2 distinct columns The column on the left is for the Petitioner (US Citizen) and the column on the right is for the foreign beneficiary, Question 15 is in the right column so applies to the foreign beneficiary, so is the foreigner's present job in the foreign country.

    Make sense?

    thank you guys.

  3. now filing for my spouse I-130.

question number 2 states if "are you related by adoption?"

of course we are not related by adoption, since the guide form on this forum has no answer whether i should answer yes or no, what should i mark? should i leave it blank or answer "no".

on question #15 stating name and address of present employer.... is that question for me or for my foreign spouse???

guys thank you so much guys.

this web site is the best.

  4. hi guys, i need help again.

just wana ask which one is needed for me to file my spouse visa petition for my wife to be.

is marriage contract and marriage certificate the same?

i understand if we get married, we will be issued a marriage contract or is it a marriage certificate from our civil registrar office then there is another NSO marriage contract or certificate.

is the marriage contract or certificate which we will get days after our civil wedding good enough for filing my spouse visa petition or do i have to wait for the NSO marriage certificate or contract which takes a a while to be released.

    help me guys pls.

confused between marriage certificate and marriage contract... are they the same.????

    thanks.

    i lav you all...

  5. Hi Everyone, Well Marie and I are finally Husband and Wife-I am soooooooo happy. I am starting the petition today and hope to have it ready to send on Monday. So here comes the questions Guys and Gals :help::lol: I just dont want to mess anything up and have the process delayed. Its so hard to be apart from each other and I sure wouldnt want a simple little error on some form to keep us apart any longer than we have to be. Im sure you can all understand. You all have been such a big help in the past with the questions I had. What a good bunch of people. I am going to make sure that once Marie and I are through all this Visa stuff I am going to keep in touch and hopefully help others as well. If anyone has any info or advice they would wanna share with me I would appreciate it, maybe if their is new forms I might not be aware of, make sure you do "THIS" kinda stuff,etc..... So this is it everyone-the start of my VISA JOURNEY  God Bless and the best of luck to everyone in the forum- Gary

hi there, congratulations. best wishes to both of you.

im getting married to my filipina gf on oct. too.

how long did it took you to have the certificate of legal capacityto marriage?

is it hard to get married there in the philippines, we're gettingmarried by civil.

    thanks and God bless.

  6. i am a us citizen (naturalized), im getting married to my filipina gf.

i am going to the phillipines to get married there on sept 23, i believed that we have to wait for 11 days before we can be married (civil wedding).

my problem is, i have to be back here in the states by oct 21 bcoz thats the only vacation time my employer gave me.

within this time frame ( 1 month) do you think i can finish up with all the necessary things that im supposed to have like (marriage contract, seminars etc etc etc.????) so that when i come back here in the states i can eventually start filing for my spouse visa petition?

guys i need help here , pls!

    thanks.

  7. Yes it is possible to do this yourself, the vast majority of us do. Lots of valuable experiences within VJ as well as the guides and FAQ. A lot of great members that will also offer you support throughout your visa journey. However if you dont think you have a straight forward case, you have concerns or your free time is limited, it can pay to seek a consult with a good immigration attorney.

Welcome to VJ and all the best to you.

thank you so much. this site is awesome. the best site in the world!!!!!!

  8. hi guys.

im getting married to my filipina wife this oct.

like others, as much as possible i want her to be with me here in the USA asap.

how hard and long is the entire processing (paperworks etc.) for her and me to be together?

can i do the entire processing myself or do i need to consult an immigration lawyer?

i am a US citizen by the way.

thank you so much guys, i just need help on this.

  9. hi everyone.

in answering questions that are not applicable, should i write "none" or N/A?

    thanks

    ..always exactly as instructions direct.

thanks for the reply. the reason i asked this question is when i was reading the sample forms on this website i noticed on the blanks , there was a "none" word instead of NA and on the forms from USCIS it says put N/A. kinda confused. i need help.

    thanks
