Congrats CRamak!! It's been a long wait but at least the worst is behind you now. My fiancé has his interview January 31st and I'll be flying to Australia on February 7th with our daughter. I wish I could go for the interview but it's just not possible right now. Approved or denied we'll be together again soon. I hope everyone enjoyed their holidays
Good luck today! I hope we start hearing about a lot more approvals soon from everyone. Our NOA2 is dated October 12 so it's probably still a bit too early for NVC to have it, but I've called a few times today and gotten an automated response that all of the representatives are busy guess I'll just have to try a bit earlier in the day tomorrow haha.
Good luck to everyone at the various stages of waiting
Update on our case, petition was just approved! 9 days after they received my RFE reply I almost can't even believe it... so now I guess just wait a week or 2 to start calling NVC? I'm not even really sure what I can do in the meantime, I hadn't given much thought to what comes next...
It's best to begin calling 10 business days after you get your text message (NOA2). You will need the Petitioner's and Beneficiaries full name and date of birth.
Call 603-334-0700 or 603-334-0888 Be prepared for a wait. Tell the operator that you are requesting a case number for your K-1. They will ask for the receipt number located on the left top of your I-797 (NOA2) form. Then he/she will either tell you that they have not received your case or you will be asked for the names and date of birth. If they don't have the case, you will be told it can take 30 to 45 days for them to receive it and to wait however many days/weeks and call back. That's a pad answer so ignore it. You can call back the next day or as often as you want. NVC's hours are 7am to 12 am (midnight) eastern time. Monday through Friday except Federal Holidays. Calling early at 7 am on the dot will get you in the fastest or calling late the lines to be open most often.
When you have your case number, enter it here https://ceac.state.g...ker/status.aspx and it will tell you one of three things... At NVC, In Transit, or Ready.
Also, The K-1 process is quite strange. For a time, it is both a non immigrant and immigrant visa type. As you go through the stages, within the NVC/CEAC system you look up your file under immigrant. It stays that way until after approval and ready for issue. At that point, it changes over to non-immigrant. It truly is a non immigrant visa with immigrant intent. Hard to explain why but that is how it is. So if you run into a page you are looking up and you get a "null" return, then try the other classification. (immigrant then non-immigrant).
For those of you who are processing in the Philippines get acquainted with this guide (http://tinyurl.com/ob9xoa8) as it walks you through the entire process for the Philippines. Forms, where to pay, how much to pay, do I pay in USD or Peso's, why is this and where do I find that; those are the questions the website will answer for you.
