  1. I just sent a I-864 Affidavit of Support for my wife. One of the required documents was a translation of our marriage document as the original is olin the native language.

We had an official translation to English made.  However, later on we had another one made due to some spelling errors and formatting issues.

When I filed her CR1  I-130,  I sent the updated version of the translation. But when I submitted the I-864, I ended up sending the older version.

Both documents look different as they were made by different vendors/translaters

My dilemma is should I wait and see if the NVC asks for clarification or should I call the NVC and ask them how to send the correct version of the translation?

Your input will be greatly appreciated

  4. Here is something a wpnder

This is from a wonderful fellow vj member:

    Questions asked:

What visa did you have while in US?

Did you first meet your husband in DC?

When did you first see each other?

Were you/he married before? Do you have any children? Does he have children?

How many times has your husband visited your home country?

Did you get married in DC? How many people attended? Did you also celebrate in Slovenia?

How did he come to the US - What was his immigration status? When did he become citizen?

What does he do? Who is the employer?

What did you study? Where? Where did you work?

Did you live anywhere else except Slovenia and the US?

    Did you meet his parents?

Talked her into checking wedding photos.

What is your mom's name and where were you born.

Do you already have a job in DC? When are you planning to leave?

Everything was more like a conversation not interview.

When she finished with questions, she said all documents look OK, so does medical exam. I hoped to hear Congrats, you've been approved, but instead, she proceeded to explain that they will contact me in about 7 days (via email) to let me know when I can come pick up passport. She explained a couple more things regarding the (conditional) green card. So overall, it was a pleasant experience.

The status on CEAC website still says Ready, just like it did before the interview. Hopefully it changes to Issued soon and I can pick up passport with visa in it. It seems more difficult to wait now at the end of the process

  5. My cousin had this issue. I scheduled an appointment with a USCIS officer at a nearby USCIS office.

You can schedule an appointment onliny. If you are not able to go to a ISCIS

You can schedule an appointment onliny. If you are not able to go to a USCIS office or it does not have any available appointments, then hiring a lawyer is your best recourse

  6. Hello all,

I know I am at the opposite side of the spectrum here, however I got a $120.00 invoice dated October 14, 2016. The letter that accompanied it indicates that I have one year to take action otherwise its back to square one. Having said that, I was wondering what the due date for this fee is ? Do I have a year to pay? The due date would not be an issue but I am facing some financial hurdles right now and it would sure help to find out how long I have to pay this fee.

    Thanks guys,

    Aghaaz0719

  7. aghaaz my friend, a word of advice don't count the days based upon other peoples case status, you will be surprised how one case can differ from the next. 2 Completely identical cases can have 2 different completion times.

At this point, you are just worrying for no reason. I have seen cases take up to 6 months sometimes a year to produce NOA2.

Good advice my friend. I appreciate it

  8. Finally I have a question for all of you. I got my NOA1 on 7/25/2016. And I have yet to receive a NOA2. I have been observing other members and their files are at the NVC already, and thats why I am concerned.

Do you think I am concerned for nothing ? Or whether calling USCIS will help (I am so busy I dont what to waste time so if you guys think I should cal them then I surely will).

    Thanks in advance

  9. yes you can. it's a special form. I opened my own account with a US and Canada bank, and was also added to my husbands USAA account. They're a military bank and used to foreign spouses. It's perfectly fine to do so. That doesn't mean he can USE the bank in his country, just that he can be added to the USC's account. ;)

Wow... thats amazing and GREAT to know. While I dont need something like this right now, but you never know. And I will definitely pass it to an VJer who may find this handy. Thanks !

  10. I checked my US bank account today.....SUCCESS! The added my husband's name to the account! Yayyyyy.

Thanks for all the help everyone. So it seems they can add people without an ITIN or SSN. :goofy:

OK, let me get his straight. Your husband is not a US Citizen or Green Card holder, right ? And then you were able to add him to your US bank account without an ITIN or Social Security number ? If that is the case, I would double check this. It doesnt sound right. I dont mean to rain on your parade, but you must have these type of things straight otherwise they can cause irreparable damage. I dont want that to happen to you.

  11. Yes definitely call or even email them. It is very possible that the embassy may not be issuing certified copies at that time but they do so now. Needless to say, the geopolitical landscape is constantly changing, especially between the US and Russia a d that definitely impacts immigration.

For example there is a couple on VJ from a certain middle eastern country whose noa1 was issued on the same date and same uscis processing center. Their file reached the NVC on 9 September while I am still praying for my NOA2. I wish you all the best :)

  12. As for a certified copy of your passport, you need to contact the US Embassy. They are the ones who certify your passport for years purpose of ITIN. My wife had hers done at the US Embassy on Islamabad.

I found this. It may help.
