This is my first post on this website and wanted to say thank you in advance for all the help I will receive. I've learn so much already with the guides and timelines. Lived in Korea for 3 years and met my wonderful girlfriend who I dated for 6 months before returning to the US for school and a job. After 2 years of Skype, FaceTime, and Summer vacations together, it is finally time to file for the K-1 Visa to bring her here!

what do you do with the appoinmtent letter after the bio office stamps it and gives it to you?

do i have to send it back to uscis? or just keep it.

Just keep it with your other papers, so you can prove you attended if asked.

Just thinking about this and I remember that I bought my ticket from British Airways two days before and it was so cheap, like 200 pounds return.

Me too. The blog post was from 2008. She didn't give the lady a date to come to the US so the lady wrote 8/15. She came on 9/20 and got taken into the room at immigration and asked questions.

Hard to say but I imagine she used the visa after the expiration date. who knows lol.

So our interview is August 15th, and we are looking at flights for after he will most likely get his visa...and the longer we wait to book...the more pricey the flights become. So my question is...how many of you went ahead and booked the flights before the interview?

I know that you are supposed to wait till your visa is in hand, but....

We were thinking 6-7 days after the interview would be safe travel dates...

Hi Good luck with the interview, I would wait until visa in hand, no point adding any more stress.

My fiance has her interview tomorrow morning in Taiwan and she saw on someone's website tha said the embassy wrote a date for that to enter the US (she wasn't asked when. When she arrived a month later after that date, immigration said her visa expired. So my fiance is telling me the date you enter is important.

To me that doesn't make sense. I thought you had six months to enter and can come at anytime.

Does this make sense? Will the embassy ask for a specific date she wants to enter the US?

I have never heard of that before, other when they tell them they have to enter before the expiration of the visa.

Just heard from my DH - he passed his interview and will be naturalized the day before his Basic training graduation!!! I'm sooooo pumped to have this whole thing done and over with!! All these frustrations with USCIS and all those idiots - *never* have to talk to them *again*!!!! :D :D

My fiance and I are trying to find the best shipping method/company to ship over a flat panel tv of his...and a box with a fish tank in it. The rest he is going to bring 2 suitcases on the plane.

What shipping companies do you suggest? We want it to be reasonable in price.

I would think very seriously whether it is worth bringing any electronic items over, the reason I say this is that the usa uses a different power supply than the uk, and electronic items are so much cheaper here, when you weigh up the costs of shipping it will probably be cheaper in the end to buy one here. Also I shipped over my computer and even had a new power supply put in but I ended up buying a new one here.

Have other people tried signing up for updates only to be told that their receipt number does not exist?

My fiance is from England! We filed for our k1 back in October, 2010. Needless to say, this process is taking FOREVER for us. We've been very unlucky. But that aside, he had his medical today and it went really well! It did get me to thinking about other people in England having their medical and then going off to the interview. We've not heard back from the Embassy yet.

I've heard most people are told whether or not they will be approved or denied at the interview and usually 2 weeks later have their visa in hand. I hope this is true for us!

Hi there good luck to you, your nearly at the end of the K1 so thats great, I had problems with my medical so I was approved pending the medical, but once all that was resolved I had my visa within 5 days.

Just look forward now to being together and all the waiting will fade away.

Yay! I got an email update from USCIS saying that "On July 14, 2011, we ordered production of your new card." Hallelujah!!

Went for my Biometrics today, 200 mile round trip for a 10 minute appt. At least its done now and the waiting begins.

Another question, can someone confirm when I can apply for citizenship, is it 3 years after we have been married which will be 7/28/11 or 3 years after having a green card which will be 7/27/2012.

Finally received biometrics appt for 7/13/11.

My husband is having his medical on the 30th and he went to his doctor to get a record of his immunizations.. well they are remodeling and told him they couldnt find it.. What can he do now?

I would think in order to pass the medical he will have to have the jabs again unless he can prove he has had them.

Papers are ready and go in the mail tomorrow! Phew!

Yes I would wait until the 24th, if they receive it too early they can return the package.

WHEN IT IS TIME TO REMOVE THE RESIDENT CONDITION SHOULD WE GO TO A PROFESSIONAL TO GET PAPERWORK FILLED? I FOUND A PACKET ON THIS SITE THAT GIVES YOU GREAT INSTRUCTION TO GET EVERYTHING READY. SHOULD I STILL GO TO A PROFESSIONAL?

The time to file to remove conditions is within the 90 day window before your 2 year green card expires, most people here do it themselves following the guides. It really is your choice whether you do it your self or pay for it to be done. The process takes the same time.

Hey gang, just letting you know that I had my biometrics appointment today @11:00am in Cleveland, it was a really quick process, it was done less than 10 minutes. Now I play the waiting game and good luck to everyone.

Thanks! That's all you put? and it was accepted? What about the dates, can they be estimates 'cause as I said, come filing time I won't even know whether I can go yet and certainly won't know the dates, I just want it just in case.

I just dug out the form that I completed and I actually didnt complete the box about the proposed travel I left it blank. So I really wouldnt worry too much. I left the date of intended departure blank and put 3 weeks for Expected length of trip.

When applying for adjustment of status, I have noticed that pretty much everyone concurrently files for EAD and AP. I would like to have advance parole so that I can keep with tradition and spend Christmas with the family and new wife in England. It would also be nice to have AP in case of an emergency in the UK. However, surely these aren't valid enough reasons or circumstances that warrant issuance of advance parole? The form also asks for dates of trip out of the US which of course at the time of filing I wouldn't know. What did those who were approved for AP state as their reasons for getting it? What could I write that would allow me AP?

From what I remember I just put to travel home. Most people apply for it as it is included in the cost.
