  1. did anyone else's VJ timeline estimate just jump a month later? how disappointing. It was Jan 20-25, now it's February 13, 2009 and March 7, 2009*.

anyone know why? i can't take it.

    Hi There

I wouldnt worry to much, the timelines change according to people updating thier timelines, many dont and thats why the dates move further away.

For example my K1 was approved way before the estimated date on VJ.

Good luck with an early approval.

  2. So no biometrics in the mail today..however, the I-765 application is showing up online! Strange that the other three aren't, but I won't complain.

Here's a question: I noticed that Chris and I seem to be the only people in this group adjusting from an L-1 visa (sorry I haven't updated that yet)..does anyone know if he'll be exempt from the biometrics appointment (as he already had this done for this visa)?

Thanks, and congrats to all who received good news today!

    What's an L1 visa?

It's a work visa..in order to qualify for one, you have to work for a multinational company in your home country, then receive a job for that same company in the US. I know Chris went through all the fingerprint and picture stuff back then (not to mention he has to do it every time he reenters the country) so I suppose it may make sense that he would be exempt from the requirement (not getting my hopes up, though)..

Hi, I'm transfering from an H1 visa which is also a work visa like your husband, but for any company in the US. You will have to go through the biometrics appointment. Whenever people on visa's like ours re-enter the country, they make us do a fingerprint, but thats not a full biometrics and its a different database that they store this fingerprint in. This is my understanding.

Cool..thanks so much for your help!

For your info, I had my biometrics done today and it was far more detailed than the ones I had at the embassy or at the airport, so I would assume everyone will have them again.

  3. A friend of mine has an interview at the London embassy for K-1 in a few days.

As part of the evidence she has prepared, she has included some postal mail (greeting cards) from her fiance.

Some of the greeting cards are printed as "To My Wife..." "For My Wife"...

Of course, they are not married, as she is applying for K-1 visa, but there was nothing wrong in sending cards that depicted such greetings according to their point of view.

When asked for a second opinion by her, I thought to first consult with the VJ community.

Will cards such as those I mention above be possible "red flags" at the London embassy? They are not married, are only engaged, but have just sent greeting cards with such wording. Will this be an issue?

Is it better not to include them?

    Thanks!

    -MARM

I definately would not show them, it will cause them to doubt whether they are already married, the London embassy is easy but this would be silly to put the element of doubt in the consulates mind.

  4. A question for all of you who've had your biometrics appointment... I'm just wondering if you set up the appointment or if the office pre-arranges it? I'm asking because hubby and I are going to out of state for a week around the time I assume I might be getting my appointment.

Thanks! It's nice to have the help of people going through the same thing. :)

When I got my letter for biometrics the appointment was 3 weeks away, and you can reschedule the appointment by sending it back to uscis. But whether rescheduling will delay the process I dont know.

  5. Ok, I know this is off-topic (by the way, we did exchange rings that we bought at this adorable store in Soho for our civil ceremony but will be getting new ones for the wedding next summer), but our checks were cashed today! We're super excited. We tried to input our case number from the back of the checks into the USCIS database, and it isn't working; can someone give me an idea of what the case number should start with? Both of our checks have MSC followed by wgat U believe is the case number, but then they have two different sequential numbers at the end (019 and 020). Has anyone experienced this before?

    Thanks!

    ~Katie

Congrats on the checks cashed! Why did you write more than one check? I only wrote one check...I hope that was ok! On our K-1, the case number started with three letters. I would look for a number like that. Just from that experience, I would guess you'll get your NOAs within a day or two, so don't stress too much (HAH!)

Congrats the noas all start with msc but when you get the noas the numbers are slightly different from the one on the back of the check, I would think you will get your naos soon so I would just wait and not worry at this point.

  6. How do I go about moving my case from the Vermont Service Center to the California Service Center? Is that possible? I was looking at the cases in Vermont and notice that they move so slow their. Will it be worth it or should I just stick it out and wait? I filed an F1 case I130...

    Hi There

I am assuming you are going for a K1 visa or simular, the service centre that deals with you case is allocated depending where the usc lives, as far as I am aware it cannot be transferred upon request, otherwise everyone would do that.

The service centres vary when I filed it was with Vermont and at that time they were far quicker than California it just depends on the workload and they type of visas they give priority to at that time.

  7. We received our second biometic appointment (already completed one for the I-485) - this one is for the I-765. Does this sound right? Two biometric appointments? I guess I thought they only needed one for both purposes but I suppose the forms are sent to different locations for different purposes. Still, seems redundant to me.

Should there be 2 biometric appointments 9one fo rAOS, one for EAD)? Just checking...

I recieved one biometric appointment which covers both aos and ead.

  8. hello all?

any one has mailed on or about 20th nov. 2008?

we are surprised we didn't hear anything from USCIS/

how did you guys mailed? did u mailed through priority mail delivery confirmation or something else?

what is the best way for mailing?

it shows online on usps its delivered on 22nd for us...but its more than 10 days..we have not heard anything from USCIS...worried if it might have been lost?

what are your experiences particularly who filed on or about 20th nov.?

If you look at my timeline it took 2 weeks to recieve NOA's, so I wouldnt worry, Im sure youll hear something within the next week.

  9. HEY Im back again, im trying to know info and need help who had same case as mine. I just got here in AZ last Sept. 29, via K1 and K2 for my son. And just got married last November 8. We will going to apply for the AOS but i dont know what exactly the requirements and how much we will pay for the application for me as K1 and for my son as K2.

Anyone can help me, I appreciated any reply. I need to submit the application before December 28 or else my son and i will be deported back to the Phils. Thanks in advance.

    Angelbelle

Firstly, if you married within 90 days of entering the usa you will not be deported.

If you look on the guides for aos it will give you all the information you require.

  10. I also forgot to mention that my husband's medical was done on June 30th 2008, which is why we only put in a copy of the DS3025.

What I am not 100% clear on is whether the US Embassies in other countries and the doctors they appoint in those countries to do the medical exams are being required to go by the new TB testing rules. If they are, the doctors my husband went to did not give him the skin test.

I'm curious about the same thing! My husband had his medical on 8/8 and they did NOT do a skin test for him. They need to get these new requirements across the board...this is crazy!

I went to a civil surgeon last month, he only transfered my vaccine record in the I693 form. No Tb test was done. So I guess we'll get an RFE! :crying::crying::crying:

Maybe you will get lucky and they wont ask you for it.

    HI There

From what I understand is that medicals done after June 1 should have had a tb skin test, if your medical was before that date it is not required.

  11. I recieved my biometrics appt today for 13th December.

  15. This topic sucks so bad. It is like if you very lucky guys were doing a little dance front of ALL the other petitioners who are into the average waiting time 4+months. I can't even find a piece in my heart to be happy for people who got approved in 2 weeks. That is just unfair. Sorry but this conversation sucks, be happy to be extremely lucky is a thing, putting your unfair NOA2 front of our faces is just fuc*ing annoying !

These people are answering the question the topic asked, I dont think you need to be so rude, if you dont like the topic dont read it.

  16. Hello vjr's!!

I've been wondering why my case was been transferred to cali service center since second week of september and until now we ain't got no new progress yet, what is happening?can you please enlighten me of what's going on with my case? From Chicago to CSC? i've already received my EAD card last week in mail..

    Thank you all!!

    Mrs. Simpson

Usually it means if your case is transferred to csc that you wont have to go through an interview and the approval will arrive in the post. However, they can transfer it back to your local office if they feel an interview is necessary.
