  1. done (page 20) :dance::dance::dance:

My interview date was also rescheduled for August 8th...sorry I just updated my timeline!

Thank you for adding me to the ever long list...on a side note I asked our officer why it seems that so many people are pending these name checks, and his answer was "It's the same reason that you have been given 2 different interview dates...people aren't working together"

    Thanks!

  2. I just discovered this regional board and thought I would share some of the interesting comments I received during my AOS interview today...Our officer was fantastic...we would have been approved but are awaitng FBI name check...

    1. The officer was surprised that I had even filed a K1 Visa...said he thought most Canadians just crossed without intent and ended up marrying

    2. He said that "we are very leniant with Canadians when crossing back and forth since Passports aren't needed yet".

    3. He also mentioned that I should be weary using my AP...since my AOS was successful but pending FBI he wasn't sure my AP would still allow me to re-enter the US...unless I was coming back in from Canada, he said it might not be a problem but he wasn't sure...he told me I should consult with our lawyer about this before leaving if I don't have my green card in hand.

Anyone ever had problems using AP at the Detroit/Windsor border? I am pretty sure that I can use AP while it is valid and while I await my Green Card...can anyone confirm?

Thanks in advance...I am so glad I found this board!

Here's that AOS pending FBI Namecheck link you may be interested in

I added my name!! Thanks for the link!

  3. Welcome Miamimommy,

Congratulations! I hope your security check finishes soon and you get your green card (which isn't green - its white) in your hot little hands very soon. I don't have an answer to your AP question since I never used my AP although I had it. You mentioned the Detroit/Windsor border - where in Canada were you from? I was from Chatham, about an hour's drive east of Windsor - and am now in the Atlanta area - hehehe about the half way mark between Miami and Detroit:-).

    I lived in Chatham.....what a small world!!!!!

  5. Hello!

I was waiting to see how was your interview :)

Congratulations!!:dance: Really nice that everything went fine! And so good that we had nice officers right?! I can't remember the name of mine...

When I was waiting to enter the building, I saw some people w/ the same rescheduled notice that we had, so maybe many of them also is w/ FBI name check pending, but... like you said, rigth now we can't do anything and hopefully we'll be completely approved very soon ;)

HI...I actually think we may have had the same officer...did you have a male? he said that we were the second couple he had today who had another interview notice...and that the other couples was for September 6th...how ironic??!!

I hope the check goes quickly!!!

  6. We had a great interview experience today. The officer was great...he was even surprised that I filed the K1 Visa..saying most Canadians just come over and start the process...he was pleased with everything...ready to approve us...BUT...yep, the FBI namecheck is not complete...we gave him the other interview notice we recieved and said we were second of the day (Karenm) and he said he would take care of it...he said as soon as the name check is complete my card will be in the mail...could be a month to a year!!!

Anyway, he didn't ask to see any new evidence...NOTHING...just wanted to verify our originals with the copies he had in his file. Said he was very pleased with how well organized everything was and that when AOS apps come in like this it makes their job really easy...that was nice!!!

All in all, would have felt better to get the approval, but I can't do anything about it...I just hope it doesn't take too long...though he did say that I should consult a lawyer before returning home with my AP if I don't have my Green Card...just to make sure I have no problems returning...

  7. I will just add my personal experience.

When I went for my K1 interview in Montreal I did not have the chest x-ray or tb skin test as I was pregnant at the time of my medical. When approving my visa the officer informed me that I should get a tb skin test done once I get settled in the USA before my interview.

I just went and got the test last week and my interview is tomorrow...I will see if they even glance at the document.

  8. Well, like another poster, we have received two dates for our AOS interview in Miami, one is tomorrow and one is September 5th. We will see if they take us tomorrow and get this done...

Here is what we are bringing:

I didn't put it in detail, but I think you kind of get an idea of what I have:

    1. Husband and son

    2. interview notice, copy of FL licence, EAD, AP, SSN

    3. I-864 - IRS transcripts for last 3 years, last 2 months of paystubs, letter of employment (all from husband)

    4. copy of all of our passports (we are still waiting for son's US passport, but have proof that it is being processed)

    5. copies of all of our Birth Certificates (son's too)

    6. copy of marriage certificate

    7. joint banking info, health insurance, car insurance, utility bills, credit cards statement, 30 photos, cards and letters from family, confirmation of wedding reception on Oct.1st

I also brought copies of EVERYTHING we have ever submitted. Our K1 Visa package, I-485 package which includes the AP and EAD applications. I have copies for the officer if they ask.

Everything is in a binder in protector sheets, with contents marked with post-it notes.

Do you think we have it all?

If it doesn't happen tomorrow, I will be back in September with even more stuff...hopefully by then we will have our son's passport!

  9. Hi Miamimommy!

I was thinking about you! I received another letter from USCIS w/ another interview date, September 6th, just like you!! I think they're a little bit lost...

Anyway, I'll do just like you, I'm going to the interview on August 8th and see what happens. And I'll show the other letter to the inteviewer also.

Good luck to us, hopefully next Tuesday we'll be done w/ this! :D

Yes...Good Luck...I really hope that the two offices did not cross check the new dates and that Tuesday will be a hit...I am so glad that someone else is going through this on the same day...I really thought "Great, what's next?"....GOOD LUCK!

  10. If anyone can enlighten me I would really appreciate it.

My original interview date was August 18th in Miami. That date was cancelled in a letter received from Lee's Summit...then I received a date of August 8th from the local Miami office...then today in the mail got a letter from Lee's Summit that my new interview is September 5th!!!

I don't get it....anyone had this happen before?

SInce we did not recieve a cancellation notice for the August 8th interview, we are going to go and see what happens, don't want to risk having our application cancelled for a no show....but if we get in for the interview, before we leave we will show them the notice for the September 5th date and see what the deal is...oh and according to NOA the date is July 28th (Miami letter) for the one and August 1st (Lee's Summit) for the other.

Anybody have any ideas or been through something similar??

    Thanks in Advance!

  11. The same happened to me! My interview was schedulled for August 18th at 11 am in Miami. Last Friday I received a notice saying my interview was cancelled. I started to worry about it, but on Saturday I received a new letter with the new date: August 8th!!! Before than the original date! So be prepared, I think the same can happen to you!

I'm not sure, but I think we can't use the AP after the interview. I think we can only travel w/ the stamp in the passaport or w/ the greencard.

    Good luck!

You were right....got the new notice today for August 8th at 10:30am...maybe I will see you there...I will be the one with the 7 month old baby!!

  12. Got the notice in the mail today...due to unforseen circumstances...blah, blah, blah...interview for August 18th at 8:00am has been cancelled...

Anyone have any experience with how long it takes to get rescheduled?

Our big celebration in Canada has been scheduled for October 1st and I think I read that if my AOS is approved but I have NOT received my card that I cannot leave the country even with AP....is that correct?

    thanks in advance!

  13. Well, it turns out that my EAD had been approved back on June 3rd...the day I had my biometrics appointment for AOS, but they hadn't done the biometrics for the EAD and that is why I never received my card. They took them this morning and said my card will arrive in the mail, but because it has already been approved they couldn't give me a interim...so, no work for me until after the card arrives....crazy thing is, my AOS interview is in less than a month!! OH well....

  14. Our EAD was done a week before the AOS

I did bring both...but they gave me back my NOA for my I-765...said they didn't need it. I am pretty sure this is what is holding up my EAD. My InfoPass appointment is on the 21st of this month and that will be almost 120 days since I applied so hopefully we can get this done and figured out. My AOS interview is August 18th so hopefully I will have this all taken care of before then!

Thanks for your help...this whole process can be so overwhelming at times!

  15. Are there usually two different appointments for Biometrics for EAD and AOS? I have just booked my InfoPass appointment for my interim EAD as it has been over 90 days and my EAD has not been touched since after my biometrics appointment and when I looked at my notice (after reading responses yesterday - thank you) I saw that it only stated my I-485 receipt number...could this be why my EAD has not been approved but my AP and AOS have moved forward?

    Any help is appreciated!

  16. My application for my EAD was received on March 28th, 2006. I went for my Biometrics in Miami on June 3rd for I-485 and when I offered my receipt notice from my EAD they said that they only do the biometrics once. So, my case was touched on both applications on June 5th and June 7th. My AP application was approved on June 2nd. Yesterday I received my appointment for my initial AOS interview on August 18th. It has been over the 90 day period for my EAD. I am not going to start working right away as I have a young son, but I would like to have the EAD in hand just in case. I have checked online and according to the NBS they are processing applications received April 16th, which is past me but not within the 30 day deadline. Do you think that the biometrics didn't get matched with my EAD?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in Advance!

  17. Hi everyone...I'm new here and through doing searches into my AOS interview I saw this site and thought I would ask for some help. Okay...maybe first I will give you a little background about me!

I am Canadian and met my now husband while we were working on cruise ships. We were together for almost 3 years before we got engaged and filed the K1 visa application. When I went back home to wait for processing I found out I was pregnant with our son. We waited a long time, but in February 2006 we had our interview and I arrived in Miami later that month with our son to reunite our family! We got married at the courthouse in March and filed our paperwork for the AOS, EAD, AP at the end of that month.

I have already received my AP and am waiting for my EAD. We received a NOA yesterday that we will have our INITIAL AOS interivew on August 18th in Miami. I was wondering what to expect at this interview, as my best friend, who also went through this process, received her conditional status last month without any type of interview...

I appreciate any help that anyone may have.

I am nervous only because I thought we wouldn't have this interview until our 2 year mark and we have just started our joint finances in the last 2 months. I hope this is going to be enough! We are having our wedding reception back in Canada in October so I won't have any pictures of that. I do have pictures from our small ceremony though.

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide!
