It seems even minor back surgery (whatever that really means for someone in that age bracket) can cost $20k-$50k. I somehow suspect a trip back home for surgery and completing the visa via consular processing is on the cards. ( I may be off base here, but if someone can afford those kind of costs out of pocket I suspect that they would have been paying health insurance already. Because it’s either cost or sheer recklessness that leads to someone having an elderly parent uninsured here.)

yea, surgeries here ain't no joke. even if it is a cyst removal, it s still a lot of money that we are talking about. Thank you

This is the very reason we don't apply for adil's mother

i have posted on this before

any insurance u try to buy will be expensive for a foreigner

and there are 2 illnesses very prevalient in Moroc

    Diabetes and TB

the disbetes medicine costs us $600 a month when Toria visited (this is not covered under a heath plan so understand that if she has surgery the post opt medicine could be expensive )

when adil's mom returned in August she needed emergency surgery for appenditis/  this could have taken a big chunk out of our savings but only costs us $1000 in Moroc

IS she able to return to Moroc?

Has your friend talked to the dr in US about the fee?

she will not be eligible for medicaid but many hospitals have social worker who can answer questions like this better than we can

if your friend is able to find a policy,  they better also look into one for senior care living later on as that is "out of sight expense wise"

So far, no she is not able to return until she probably files for I-131. she need a minor back surgery in the meanwhile, and we will see her options while I take all said into consideration. Thank you so much

This is an important question to answer correctly as it affects the answer. Maybe your friend should start an account to be able to answer the questions.
insurance - well, what insurance is the mother on now? That’s what will answer the question. I assume she is on insuranc as it would be extremely reckless to have a parent living here uninsured.

If they filed i485, does the mom have AP? If yes, she can leave and come back. If no, she can leave but will have to complete the visa process abroad. (Is the i130 approved yet)

if no i485 filed, mom has been here without authorized stay and would incur a ten year ban when she leaves.

Thank you for that! She is on no insurance, while I assume I-131 AP is not filed it yet! do you recommend any insurance coverage for a elderly women in that situation?

You don't make the experience count, he should have checked his job and the score of 7 or above

and i quote "on their website http://www.onetonline.org/. The O*Net online database groups work experience into five "job zones." While many occupations are listed, only certain specified occupations qualify for the Diversity Visa Program."

he should checked his qualification before submitting on DV lottery and taking someone's place.

    but anyhow, good luck

Thank u for ur response. My cousin is at the moment a Public relation Officer which almost match one of the positions called Public Relation Specialist on the website with the eligible score. Is the way the job phrased make the difference? Thank you

To emphasize from the above: the experience needs to be at the correct level, and needs to be evidenced and documented.  He should ensure that he can match up the proof he gets via things like his job offer letter, job description etc can be tied back to a job description at the correct level in o-net and to demonstrate that he meets it.

also - because its a common mistake, although it wasn’t asked - I would also confirm that he entered on the basis of his country of birth and not his country of current residence.

Definitely! he has to go through where he was born! He is right now a Public relation Officer. I found only under management's family job on o-net the role of a public relation manager. Is it just a title, and just like you said he needs to make sure he matches through what is under his offer letter, job description ect... Thank you

  6. Hi all, I just sent out i757 to remove my conditions after my first two years of marriage. I received a confirmation text one week after the submission. I am expecting hopefully an extension soon. However, my wife and I had some problems and she is giving me hard time, while we argue a lot. I feel a little bit concerned about leaving her because I am in the middle of this process I assume is almost over. Can anybody tell me what shoud I do if I leave her, or If I do when I receive the extension? Thx

  7. Hi guys,

I provided my fingerprints by November 18th, But I did not receive my work permit yet, and whenever I check my status, I find the following:

On October 7, 2016, we received your Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization , Receipt Number MSC**********, and sent you the receipt notice that describes how we will process your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your receipt notice by November 6, 2016, please call Customer Service at 1-800-375-5283. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

Is it ok to wait that long. it is almost 75 days to be a week? Also it does not say in the previous statement about receiving my other documents. Is all this normal? Any recommendation?

    Thank you

  8. How long ago did you send it?

Depending on the service you used, either address should work.

    REF: https://www.uscis.gov/i-485-addresses

The first address is for USPS first class, return receipt requested/delivery confirmation. That is the VJ recommended method. The second address is Express mail, UPS, FedEx, etc.

I sent it to USCIS Attn: FBAS131 South Dearborn - 3rd Floor Chicago, IL 60603-5517.

USPS confirmed that the mail arrived October 7th. I just received the notification October 24th that my package arrived

  9. I think you can call their information desk. Don't really have idea, but please do let me know if you receive any information or if you receive NOA.

I suddenly received October 24th, after midnight 3 emails and 3 text messages from USCIS that my case is approved and has been routed to the national benefit center. I was told that in 7 to 10 days I will receive form 797

Sorry, I did not know. Thank you

  10. I don't think it's wrong address if you sent it throuh usps express delivery.

I sent mine through usps overnight delivery to the same address and I know someone who sent her's to the same express delivery address through usps and she got notification in 8 days.

What I understand is that they have backlogs, so it is taking a bit longer.

Is there anyway we can call USCIS and share with them our inquiries. Their voice message is hard to get to speak to a customer service assistant.

    Thx

  11. Which of the USCIS office did you send your document to? It has been 11 days since USPS delivered my document at Chicago location, but I have not received NOA. I heard they have backlogs, so if you submitted at the same location it might be the same problem.

I just found out that I sent it to the wrong address in Chicago. I send it to to the destination of express mail and commercial courier deliveries instead of the one for USPS which is PO Box 804625 Chicago IL, 60684107. Attached are both addresses from the instructions. I just want to know how to follow up with USCIS about my mistake.

  12. I sent my AOS to Chicago and they got it October 6th and since then I haven't got any emails, texts or mail and it's been 17 days today.. although I also filled form G1145

  13. Hello,

I by mistake sent my application to adjust my status to the address for express mail and commercial courier deliveries instead of the address of USPS postal deliveries. They are both in chicago, but instead of send it to PO BOX 804625 Chicago IL, 60680-4107, I sent it to 131 South Dearborn, 3rd floor Chicago IL. I did not receive any notification even if I sent it Form G1145 to notify me that my appilication arrived. Please give me a recommendation on following up with USCIS. Thank you
