  1. Passport drop off/ pick up timeline

    Drop off - TUESDAY, November 23, 2010

    Pick up - TUESDAY, November 30, 2010

    = 7 Days

Ricardo...I am confused. Your timeline says interview was on Nov 1st...did you have a 2nd one that made it take until Nov 23rd for the drop off? Just trying to get an acurate time frame from the approval/interview to receiving the Passport. Thanks

  2. This is my biggest obstacle, and I still am not sure how I will overcome it...

The man is a father at his convenience, he comes and goes at will, and does not pay child support.

He moved across the US and let a year and a half go by without seeing his son, but now he is back in Cali...

Right now, I don't know how, or if, I will get his permission

At this point he thinks we are still waiting on the immigration process and I am leaving it that way, and giving it to God...

Do you "have" to get his permission? I mean, if he is not financially carrying the load in raising your son then how and why would he have a say so in how and where you raise him? He doesn't sound like he would have the where-with-all to legally go after you and because I know you, you would make sure that your son would make yearly trips to visit friends and family as to stay connected. I'm just sayin'

  3. Hello everyone....wanted to come on here and officially give the update on how our interview went on Friday... Most(if not all) may already know some of what happened but here it is in full....brief but full.

Michael went for the interview and at first he said the officer couldn't understand him so the CO told him to hang up the phone and try again...Michael said though that he could see before he even started asking questions that there was his name written on the blue slip already. After the normal questions...he was told that I would need to let them know when I could come back to the embassy for an interview and I would need to bring a cosponsor paperwork. Some of you may remember I was attempting to use assets in my Affidavit of Support but thought that they might require a co-sponsor as well. Long story short...I had a "friend" lined up to be that co-sponsor and the week before she backed out wanting me to have an immigration attorney write up some sort of amendment to the AOS...ray ray ray....ultimately I told her NEVER-MIND and we would attempt the interview with assets alone....

anyway...you can all imagine how I must have felt to #1 have to go down to JA short notice and #2 find a co-sponsor. Trying to remain positive I went ahead and booked a mileage tkt(blessing #1) I had been holding onto for me to fly out Sunday Dec. 5th and return Friday Dec. 10th. This was the only time open in Dec to use these miles and happen to fall the week before my finals so I will only miss my review (blessing #2) I wrote a letter to the embassy telling them how much of a financial hardship this was and how when I had asked to attend when I could have planned I was denied.....rae..ray...rae..I told them if they were unable to waive my attendance then I need them to accomodate my schedule and book the interview on Dec 7th or 8th... OF WHICH THEY DID  (blessing #3) Next I started compiling a letter to write to my friends...taking great care to explain all of the technical mombo jumbo and putting it in laymans terms to advise of responsibilities and requirements to be a co-sponsor. Having to dispell many of the myths that those not involved in this process have...Not feeling 100% comfortable with the feeling of begging people to help me. Along with opening up all of my personal business....THEN MY 4th BLESSING OF THE DAY.....

One of my VJ sisters sent me one of many emails supporting me and assuring me that it will all work out....along with saying that she said she really felt that she needed to be my/our co-sponsor. She understood how I must be feeling not because she had been in the same situation but similar and people really reached out to her so she felt that it was her turn to reach out to me... (F) (F) (F)

I was in such shock that someone who only knows me from this board and FB would show me so much love...I could do nothing but cry :crying: and thank her repeatedly. Now, I know yall is some nosey heffers  and part of me want to leave the story hanging since we havent had one of Dara's story in a while.. So...But I won't be mean... MY ANGEL WHO WILL BLESS ME WITH MY HUSBAND IS....... (L)Danna (L)

Oh and to my ATL sisters...I have a 10 hour layover in Atlanta on my way back...so....I may be looking to one of yall to rescue me from the airport (at least to go for drinks or dinner???)

  5. The only chance we know for certain is that it is zero if he does not apply.

Anything else could be debated, quite the point of all this, I have no idea.

Why does he not just fill the form in etc and see?

She was just asking a question so they knew what to expect/not to expect....SUS gave the best answer. In JA...there is no rhyme or reason to who gets Visitors visas...the fact that is an absolute is that no matter what...they keep your $$$ whether you get the visa or not!

  6. travel agent.. naah that's not not all necessary... As SUS said .. all the parents really need are letters notorized and that's it.. The children live with the mom in the usa.. so she's the one who really have to do the drafting of the letter/s no action is required of the spouse in jamaica I think.

Letter should include name of parent/s , child/children ages, person travelling with the child/children, contact numbers and the like. travelled with my brother's kids 3 times on 3 seperate trip to Jamaica.. on the 2nd round.. they questioned me as to the child.. they said the would call the parent which they did infornt of me and the IMMIGRATION OFFICER had the gutts to say that had they not pick up the phone that the child would be held back... i wasnt even in secondary for that reason.. think I was back there because I had two green cards one expired and one not and the initial IO asked why i had two..

What frustrates me is that every time it is different. I sent my then 8 year old to Jamaica with a family friend and they never even questioned her. I did provide a letter giving authorization but they never even asked for it....either way.

  7. Morning All! Happy Friday...:dance::dance:

Have a great weekend! Be safe and have fun...and please for all of us that can't right now...have some sexy parties!!!!:devil::devil::rofl:

Any word on if the interviews next week will happen from the Embassy yet...I see a few Yardies on the portal page that have scheduled interviews next week?

Nope...they didn't reply to my email but since Jamaica didn't really get hit...I am hoping that they are gonna be open as there was really no reason to close....only time will tell

  8. hello all

does any who file for the fiance and he went for the interview then they give him a blue slip receiver a blue stating that

they want to interview the petition.

and what is that all about.

    thank you

It is what it is....very simple...he went to the interview and for whatever reason they were not convinced that your relationship is valid thus they require you - the petitioner to come for a 2nd interview where they will ask you questions as the validity of your relationship.

  9. Exactly - and did you see the recent poster from JA whose hubby admitted to last smoking Dec 09 - and they got a letter to do a new medical and come back for a 2nd interview after Dec 1 this year!! Not that I wish bad for her - But why did you and Yankee get screwed if he gets through? The inconsistency is horrific

Not to mention.....they say the embassy will be closed for the hurricane or tropical storm WHATEVA...from TOMORROW til Monday but not get back on normal schedule till the following monday...#######???? Yes, I did email them...NO ANSWER...so, not sure if Michael will have his interview as scheduled on 11/12 or not.....so damn frustrating!!!

  10. Japrincess my heart is hurting for u & my eyes leaking.....so much to b said but don't know what to say! Although it is said our country is the greatest in the world we have just as many flaws. The timing of this info for me is adding insult to injury after watching the elections last night. Sorry to take this somewhere else but I am having a difficult time with our great US of A!

  11. I just got back from Jamaica on Saturday :crying: and will be sending my 129F packet tomorrow morning!!!!! After reading so many post about petitioners waiting, I thought it would be nice to "meet up"! If there is anyone in the New York/North Jersey interested in meeting for drinks or a light meal. Please reply to the poll B-)

check out this link to the thread of yardies.... http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/268611-yardie-party-come-as-you-are-part-1/page__pid__4267804__st__1785#entry4267804

We have our own little community on here and have link ups from time to time. I am not in your area but there are a few that are. Plus it is a good place to have your questions asked about the process and the Kingston embassy.

  12. Good day everyone, i want to know if anyone recently got a reply from the KINGSTON EMBASSY by emails? i have send them like 2 emails about a questions i have for over 2 weeks now and i have not gotten any responds.... Please anyone let me know....thanks..

I too have emailed them and gotten a response within the 24 hours and now sent another email yesterday and now waiting for a reply...I would say if you have been waiting for 2 weeks...keep sending emails or attempt to call them. That seems like way too long. Good luck.

  13. Hey Tammy_Sheldon, Digicel Prepaid phone can work in the US. If your relative has a phone which support AT&T or T-mobile frequency bands, then his phone will be able to work because Digicel, T-mobile, & AT&T are GSM wireless carriers. I'd advice you to ask him to put enough credit on his phone, because if he's out of Jamaica it's considered Roaming and roaming chargers are really expensive. I'm speaking from experience because i too had a Digicel phone when i came to the US and it worked.

It may work on the east coast but out here in the pacific NW...it nah work

Tammy I have the same concerns as you do and have thought of sending a prepaid phone down when I mail the last bunch of papers via fed x this week for our interview next week. My concerns with that are #1-will he get charged duty fee's for it & #2 will it get crushed because it will be in one of those mailing envelopes....hmmm

Oh and BTW, I sent you a message re linking up since both our guys are from JA and here in Portland there aren't many....Let me know what you think  Acrow doesn't have time for mi,...she too busy traveling and living the life in JAMAICA with hubby and babies :rofl:

  14. I think it is way past the time to bump up the thread about how to answer that dreaded question "If you have ever smoked Ganja before".... Anyone from the yardie group know where it is??? I am beating it into my hubby's head....NEVER NEVER NEVER admit to EVER EVER EVER smoking weed. The Jamaican embassy doesn't play!!!! We need to advise any new people going through the process that being honest unfortunately in this situation doesn't win.

Oh and another thing....at my husbands physical..they didn't even ask him anything about if or when was the last time he smoked....hmmmmm

  15. I saw a few persons being told that they cannot be allowed even though they are the petitioners. Dont want to dampen your spirits but most persons got turned down because they were missing a document. I saw at least 3 persons got blue slips because they did not have the petitioner's employment letter. Another got turned down because they did not have the tax returns. Another person was given blue slip because they needed to interview his petitioner as well (strange because even if he brought his petitiner she would not be allowed inside). I tell you this, if you have all your documents together you'll feel more confident in your interview. I spent money printing pictures and photocopyning documents, getting phone records etc. They didn't ask me for any of these. However I am glad I got them because it made me feel a whole lot more confident and secure as if I am ready to conquer the interviewer. Later on I will do a list of all the documents I carried to the interview.

Please, please, please feel free to ask any questions pertaining to the interview. I want you all to be approved.

Thank you soooo much for all of the detailed info about the interview....oh and CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! What a relief! and a blessing

  16. Of course all are welcomed here. I hope she gets through fine; that's a long wait.

  17. we applied for the CR1 visa....

Take a look at the Jamaica Portal and on the right hand side it shows all the upcoming and recent interviews...I know there are 3 cr1's in the next few weeks and a couple that just happened. Click on the profiles to see what each timeline looks like. With the exception of mine where 1/2 of the delays were due to my failure to send a form in...it should give you some estimate of how the process has been going. If I recall correctly someone has an interview in the next couple of weeks and they started the process earlier THIS year. So, if you have all of your stuff in order...it can happen rather quickly. Good luck and hang in there...at least you have an upcoming trip to look forward too.

  18. Hi everyone! I am not on here very often, but I am pregnant and due in less than two weeks! I have spent the last 3+ months in Ja (no internet at my Jamaican home) and am now back to give birth. Congrats to all of the other pregnancies on here...I hope they are healthy and relatively pain free!

Congrats girl....still wanting to get that connection going on here in Portland...maybe after baby..before you head back to JA (assuming)

  19. thank just it hard but i know that i have to go

If the co-sponsor income was enough...it sounds like it may have not been complete?? I would suggest calling them directly or sending an email so you don't go all the way there (although you will still need to) without the proper info. Good luck. Oh and from what I have seen on previous blue slip interviews, you can request a particular day being that it is your presence that is what they want.
