palolis got a reaction from ShpatBeqa in N-400 April 2020 Filers
Hi everyone!
I had my interview today! It was only me (no spouses allowed inside). I arrived 15 minutes early and after going through security, I checked in with an officer who entered my information to a computer, put a stamp on my interview NOA and then sent me to the second floor (Denver office). I sat for three minutes and an officer came to look for me.
The interview was very straightforward, first he asked for documents to check that my marriage was still going (I provided bank statements, home insurance and mortgage).
Then, he did the 6/10 test, the English test on a tablet (one question for reading and one for writing). Then, he went through the application questions and requested clarification on two minor things. After that, he said he would recommend me for Naturalization and asked if I wanted to become a citizen today, so I said yes.
He gave the Oath of Allegiance, I signed a couple of forms and he asked me to go out to the waiting room so he could go and get my certificate. I waited for a minute and he came out with my certificate, some paperwork (to explain how to apply for a passport, change social security, etc) and a cute US flag.
He congratulated me and I was gone in 30 minutes.
I'm now a US Citizen!
Good luck to all of you who are still in the process. May 2021 be the year for you to also become US Citizens.
All the best.

I wouldn't worry. They seem very accommodating. My phrases were: for reading “Who can vote?” and for writing “Citizens can vote”. For the rest of the interview, she can use a translator.

Thank you!!
If you can write that sentence, you have nothing to worry about, LOL!
It was super basic; just read a three word sentence and write a three word sentence.

Don't trust those timings. They are never accurate. Mine says July 2021 and I have my interview in 8 days.

Denver Update:
Interview was about 30 minutes.
Showed passports / resident cards Had the six questions. Read tablet / wrote on tablet for English test Went through 50? questions on N400 to confirm my answers Asked to see recent tax returns + anything else. I showed bank accounts, insurance, and a pay stub - all showed "married" Approved on the spot ... Oath ON THE SPOT! Certificate on the spot!
Great experience, great day!
Good luck everyone. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I wouldn't know about the baby, sorry. I know they are being very strict because of COVID but I don't know what the rules are for minors.
I have my Naturalization interview on December 28th at the same Denver office, so if I can get information about you bringing a baby, I will let you know.
Good luck with your interview in January!

I woke up to a text message (sent at 4:34am) saying "We have taken an action on your case and it needs your attention."
I immediately log in to see
December 11, 2020 Interview Was Scheduled
On December 11, 2020, we scheduled an interview for your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, Receipt Number XXXXXXX. We will mail you an interview notice. Please follow any instructions in the notice.
I checked the documents section and see that there's a notice from December 10 saying that they would reuse biometrics. The interview letter is not posted, so I have no idea when the interview is scheduled for.
Our filing date was April 21, 2020 and field office is Reno. The case completion estimate had been bumped back from September to October, November and then finally December. So I guess the last one was the lucky charm.

I'm sorry Baltimore must be busier than Denver.
Don't worry about the estimated time change, my case also moved from April 2021 to October 2021 after the biometrics and I received the notification for the interview 11 days after that.
I wish that your interview gets scheduled soon!
