Do you guys think now with Trumps strict rules of visa on foreign countries once approved CR1's some people will be denied entry into the US? My sister said a man was denied entry in the US after having his CR1 visa at port entry.

Even I have heard that some people were denied entry at IAD with CR1 visa. However, their case was very complex and somethings changed after their interview and before their entry to USA. If you have a straight forward case don't worry about it. Just relax when entry USA and talk to EO as calmly as you can. Good luck on your interview date.

Thanks Susie, I know! So far I have only seen 1 active Salvadoran besides me on a forum. That's why I chose to ask in general. I know prices will definitely vary but at the end of the day we're all going to the same country and will have to cover the same requirements to enter.

I read a blog of someone who immigrated a while back (from the Philippines) and since she didn't have record for her vaccinations (which is my case) she was asked to show marks on her body that proves she got the vaccines or scars she had left behind from when she got chicken pox. Since she didn't have any marks or scars the dr decided she needed to get the shot. Experiences like this would be very helpful, just to have an idea of what kind of shots I might be forced to get.

The page for the us embassy in my country says in average how much you could spend on the medical but they also put the prices of the vaccinations and if I add all the ones that the CDC list says are required for immigrants I get a very big number! Bigger than the one the us embassy website suggests. That's why I wanted to hear other people's experiences. If you guys don't mind sharing some details like these ones I would be forever grateful. I know price will definitely vary

Here in my wife experience with medical facility in India,

She spoke with one of the nurse at the hospital because we didn't have her medical records either. According to the nurse, embassy site will list all vaccines a person should receive, but once you turn 21 than you are only require to get 4 or 5 vaccines (to keep you updated with USA vaccine requirement). I am not sure the names of these vaccines but according to my wife and my brother in law who both went with the same process got 4 vaccine shots. Hope this will help. At least in India, the price was reasonable. You can always call Medical facility in your country and ask them how much money to carry just in case.

I am not sure if there is such a timeline for each country for green card. I ask this because I have seen people sharing their insight of when their green card was received and when they applied for jobs and such. I am hoping someone here can give me an insight but in the mean time I will do a research on this site.

as for social, I will say what most have said before me, apply in person do not wait 10 days to receive your card automatically based on the option you selected when applying for immigrant application.

As for the airport experience, we had a bit of longer wait than usual only because of the immigration officer who did our process at the airport was new. It was all due to the custom form that I filled out for my hubby. Every time I travel through IAD, i always fill out custom form and I was never stopped for customs even when I declared my jewelry in the past, however this time they stopped me and my hubby only because the immigration officer was new and wrote us down for my personal jewelry, which he is not suppose to i believe if it is personal. Other than that the process was smooth. We had extra hour because of the customs and all of our stuff went through scanner after I gave an explanation to 2 custom officers. anyways my advice, do not declare anything if you want to avoid customs, especially food. do not bring anything that you know will cause you problem. Also be clear and concise when dealing with them and do not panic.

on a side note: IAD usually never has custom but this time they did. I think it is becoming a thing now or something.

    read above.

So to clear things up: if you are a Muslim and especially from those 7 countries then yes you may be held at the airport(s) across the country due to the travel ban. It is discriminatory against muslims more than anyone else. Although they made announcement that green card holders are not affected anymore except for vetting, still you cannot say anything.

HI, we are also in MD. My wife she arrived on Nov 1st.

Social Security- Even though we selected option while applying we went in person after about 5 days. I think the officer said it will take at least 3 days after their arrival before they have their information in their system. I would suggest to go apply in person after a week. Once we applied her ssn card arrived in mail within a week.

Job - If your husband have a job lined up and need to start working than he can. He doesn't have to wait for green card. Visa stamp on his passport should be sufficient.

Green Card- We received her card after 5 weeks. We were also getting error until the card was in production. It is normally to have it like this way. Wait for 3 weeks and than try and maybe by than his card will be in production. There is no status update until card goes in production.

If you don't mind what kind of a job is your husband looking for? My wife is trying to get an entry level job/internship in Business field but we are not getting any thing.

    Hope this will help you.

  4. I also chose for it to be delivered because I didn't want to have to go to the office but nothing has arrived yet. I'm sure the holidays have added a delay.

The easiest way is to go to social security office near you and apply in person after 2 weeks. My brother in law's social security number was created but never delivered for some reason after 2 weeks. My wife social security number was not even created after 3 weeks. I feel it easier and faster to apply with social security office in person. Just my 2 cent!!

  5. Hey guys, so happy to say that our interview has been scheduled for 3rd February 2017. Feels like wait is almost over. ????

Does anyone know how long does it take to receive appointment letter from NVC?

Hey guys, so happy to say that our interview has been scheduled for 3rd February 2017. Feels like wait is almost over. ????

Does anyone know how long does it take to receive appointment letter from NVC?

It took us a week to get interview letter.

  6. My wife had her interview today and she was approved!!

Her interview was scheduled for 7:30 AM. She arrived at the embassy at 6:45 AM. She was one of the first person to enter embassy for CR1 category at 7:00 AM. She went through security check up and was directed to go a window to get her token number. At this window she was asked:

    Who is calling you?

    What is your name?

Then she got her token number. After about 10 to 15 mins she was called to another window with an American CO. She was a very nice American lady.

    Wife: Good Morning

    CO: Good Morning

    CO: Who is call you?

    Wife: Answered

CO: How long do you know each other?

    Wife: Since 2nd grade

CO: Did both your family agree for marriage?

    Wife: Answered

That's it. She was approved! CO took her passport and said visa will be ready to picked up at local VAC office in 3 to 5 business days. She was outside the embassy by 8:00 AM. Thank You everyone for all the help. I am still here if someone need any help.

  7. Hi Harry13. I have got the AOS bill and have paid it and done choice of agent and called agent to review. The IV bill has not showed up yet. I see in your timeline that you went ahead and sent the AOS and IV package even before you paid the IV bill is that accurate ? I have all my docs ready so if that's the case I can mail it today while I wait for IV to unlock ?

Yes, you can and go ahead and send documents now. If you wait till IV fees it will be another week or so. I paid AOS fees and send all my documents same day. This way it will save time. Just make sure you double check all required documents.

    Good Luck!!

  8. Here is my two cents. I had a similar situation with RFE for my I-130 petition. Luckily I got a good supervisor who given me their fax number to fax the necessary document. My I-130 was approved after one week of faxing the document. Just call them and ask which document you were missing and directly fax it. This is the fast way to get it to the correct supervisor.

    Good Luck!!

  9. Hello friends so I got my case number And invoice number on the phone but I get error when I try to fill out the ds261 choice of agent. Has anyone experienced this ? Do I have to wait for the email before I can do this ?

If you received your case number today just wait for little bit before you fill out choice of agent. Once you receive welcome email from NVC your AOS fees will be unlocked. You should receive an email withing 48 hours.

  10. Her experience was painless. I had her take copies of both packages I submitted (USCIS I-130 & NVC), wedding album, and all her original required documents. Although they did not ask for anything more than the required documents, it is nice to have extra documents just in case. They asked basic questions nothing complicated.

    • What city/state are you planning to migrate?
    • What does your husband do?
    • Who is in his family?
    • How did you guys meet?
    • How long did you guys see each other?

After these brief questions, the officer said "Congratulations, your visa has been approved". It seems the couples who have a harder time are the ones who had a previous marriage, a significant age gap between the husband/wife, and/or have previously applied for other types of visas around the time of the marriage/engagement. If none of those apply to your relationship, you can expect a similar experience. I wish you the best to you and your wife. I am sure she will do fine. Good Luck!

Thank you for sharing her experience. I am also hoping that everyone here goes through this smoothly. I am really glad that the interview was painless for her and she will be her soon.

    Congratulations!!

  11. Hey guys,

My wife just had her interview this morning (10/3/16 @ Mumbai Consulate). It went well and I am glad to say she was approved! Thank god. I would like to thank Visa Journey and its' members for making this process less stressful. You guys have been a great help. I wish all the luck to rest of you guys who are awaiting the same results. Hang in there. The process took a long 8 months to complete but I'm glad to say it is finally over.

Could you please share your wife experience? My wife will be having her interview Oct 14th.

    Thank You.

  12. That's what I thought would happen but I haven't seen anyone mentioning that they received the instructions on choice of language. That's why I am confused as each comment I read seems to have different information.

Once your interview is schedule you will receive an email with instruction to make appointment for your fingerprint. At this stage you are required to make an account online where you can select the language of your choice and also select the location where you would like to pick up your visa.

  13. which site I can setup medical examination and fingerprint?

    http://photos.state.gov/libraries/mumbai/1057584/senkx/BMB%20IV%20Packet%204%20January%202015%20Revision_001.pdf

    https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Medical/BMB%20-%20Bombay.pdf

See step 3 in the above link. It will require you to create your account and than you can schedule your finger print. As for medical examination you just call the medical center that is near you and schedule appointment directly. The second link shows the acceptable medical facilities in India for Mumbai Embassy. Please note if your interview is at Delhi Embassy, than there is a separate list.

  14. Thanks

But aos fee status is still in process. Do i have to wait till it shows paid?

And what is barcoded cover sheet we send with aos and iv pakage? Is it the one we get in welcome letter?

I started calling on 9th day after case recieved in Nvc. My case no was assigned in 11 days. And i filled ds 261 right away

No you don't have to wait till AOS fee shows paid.

There are two barcode sheet. One you will receive in the welcome email from NVC also called as cover sheet. We use this sheet to check all the documents that we are sending to NVC. For the AOS and IV barcode sheet you have to print from the caec website where you made the payment. Click on in process in the AOS fee section. Scroll down to the bottom on the page and thats where you will find to document cover sheet. Make two copies of this page. Use on for AOS document and another one for IV documents.

    Good Luck!

  15. Harry13, do visit: https://www.uscis.gov/file-online/uscis-immigrant-fee

It tells you what I have pasted below about change of address. Please visit the site for more information.

    · USCIS will only mail your Green Card to the U.S. mailing address you provide to the Department of State at the time of your immigrant visa interview or to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer when you are admitted to the United States. If you plan on living at a different U.S. address immediately after you enter the United States, please give that address to the CBP officer to ensure that your card arrives at your new home.

    · If you move after you arrive in the United States and do not receive your card within 120 days, please update your address with USCIS by visitingwww.uscis.gov/addresschange or by contacting the Customer Contact Center. Also, we recommend that you update your address with the U.S. Postal Service by visiting your local U.S. post office or online at www.usps.com/umove.

    · If you have a problem paying the USCIS Immigrant Fee, contact us athttps://my.uscis.gov/account/needhelp.

    · If you do not receive your card within 120 days, you can submit an inquiry online at www.uscis.gov/e-request.

I really appreciate this information. This is very helpful.

  16. Do not bother with NVC. ts very important at interview to change your address. NVC has nothing to do with it. This address is where your SS card and green card will go. Also at POE verify that the changed address is in the database correctly. My husband had t

o do this at interview and POE. Also be sure to go to USCIS.gov and update your change of address so its all matching.

Again forget NVC they do not matter. Your case isn't even with them.

Thank you very much. I will be staying at the same address for one more month. I will change address once she is here in November so I don't make things complicated.

  17. Hi,

I did not see anyone reply to your query so I'll try to help. :)

Your change of address can be updated through NVC. So here's what I recommend:

    1. Move where you need to.

    2. Send an email to NVC at nvcinquiry@state.gov with the subject: CHANGE OF ADDRESS. Provide the NVC case #, the petitioner and applicant's names and dates of birth as well as the new address.

    3. Call them the following day to confirm that they have received your email with this change. Please note they are open Mon through Fri from 7am to midnight (EST) except for celebrated holidays.

Best of luck to your spouse at the interview also! :D

Thank you for your reply. I think it was better for us just to stay at the existing address for one more month and than move when she is actually here. This process is already complicated and I don't want to make it worse. I really appreciate your reply.

  18. yeah PCC in 3 different countries is quite a lot of work. and being overseas doesn't help as well in getting home country docs either but God is gracious finally moving forward :)

Complete agree with you. Just make sure you have all the correct documents first time so you don't get a checklist. This wait will be worth it. Good Luck!!
