God is super good, I received the return application yesterday and I was able to resubmit it too with the correct amount this time. Hopefully we get approve without any interviews. Thank you all.
Did you reprint and reassemble the paperwork again, or did you send back the paperwork with the correct amount, that was returned to you due to the amount issue?

Thank you! When I send the application back with the new check. Should I include
Thank you. Should I add a letter saying something like "If there's another problem , please call me at...."? Or not?
Did you reprint and reassemble the paperwork again, or sent back the original paperwork that was returned to you due to the check issue?

I resubmitted everything as it was and they received my package on october 16.
Did you reprint everything, or simply sent back what was returned from them?

Resubmit means just that - send back the original paperwork. No need to reprint anything.
What about "as a new filing"?

We got ours rejected for old forms, we printed the old forms, and resubmitted everything (we assembled everything back as our original submission, but others on Visa Journey just left them alone), and placed green form on top. It worked for us, we are still waiting on physical NOA1, but we got the text messages.
So, no, you don't need to reprint. 🙂
Thank you! Do you know if it worked for those on Visa Journey that simply returned the original package back without reprinting and reassembling everything?
Also, what do you mean yours got rejected for old forms? What was the reason for rejection?

Just attached a check of correct amount. Write a simple note on a new piece of paper explaining this and return the whole packet as as-is. Do not undo the package as assembled.
The green paper says: "You may resubmit your benefit request as a new filing if you are able to correct the issue that caused the rejection.".
The I-797C paper says: "Please resubmit the application/petition package with the appropriate fees to the address listed on the bottom of this page.".
So I'm wondering if "resubmit" means send back the original paperwork, or print a new one again.

We attached the check of $595 without the $85 biometric fee. Because I-751 instruction on USCIS website instructs (page 2 line 13): U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident Spouse. If you are the U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident spouse, you do not need to include a biometric services fee at the time this petition is submitted. If USCIS later notifies you that you must submit your biometrics, you will receive a biometric services appointment notice with instructions on how to submit the additional fee.
I am the spouse of a US citizen thus we assume we do not need to include the $85. Could someone explain why the correct fee is $595+$85?
Did you resubmit the returned package with a new check, or did you have to re-print everything from scratch?
-
I made a mistake of writing a check for $595, but it should have been for $595+$85=$680. Hence the whole package got returned, with everything stapled together (application, copies of evidence, etc.). I noticed the pages had been scanned and have printed numbers and letters. There is also some handwriting on some pages.
My question is, can I resubmit the returned package with a new check, or do I need to re-print everything from scratch?
Thank you! -

Truthfully, what is reasonable to us may not be reasonable ENOUGH to the interviewing officer. I have seen people with house, land, permanent jobs, families, kids, etc,. be denied a tourist visa. I have also seen people with house, land, permanent jobs, families, kids, etc,. also leave those things behind and illegally made a life in the USA.
It does not mean that this will happen to your MIL but - again - things to be cautious about.
Thank you!

My parents were denied their tourist visa the first time they applied because my father was/is retired from his job of 34 years. The officer decided that my parents intended to stay even though they had multiple reasons to show they were returning back home. They waited almost one year before reapplying and were successful without being asked for as much as one piece of evidence to prove their ties to their home country. Each applicant's experience is different and everyone explains their answers to the best that they can manage....it is up to the interviewing officer to determine if the applicant will be placed on the Approved list...or the Denied list....every embassy has a quota to make.
I do not mean to scare you with all this but it is just things to expect and not be alarmed if they happen to your MIL.
If her husband is staying and she also has another child in the home country, is that a reasonable indication she will return back home?

They would be considerations. Generally, the elderly (referring to those of retirement age and up here) tend to not want to uproot their entire life to move without a compelling reason. Not that many others haven't done exactly that....it would be favorable IMO, assuming there is other family back home.
Her husband is staying, also another child in the home country.

I assume her situation is what it is and she just applies like everybody else.
Does age matter? Also, does it matter that she's retired?

Search through this forum and see what has been suggested. It's possible she may not have an issue, and it's possible she will. That your wife is not a USC yet is actually a positive for your MIL.
What do you suggest, Sir?

Saying that you will pay for her trip.
A visitor must prove they will return home to obtain a visa. If she can't afford to visit on her own to be here, what's keeping her from going home. With visitor visas, people are assumed to have immigrant intent and to prove otherwise. Welcome letters, paying for someone's trip, etc, we see all the time, has caused denials.
What are the options then? How to prove she will return home?

TBH this is a great way to have her visa denied.
Sorry, what "is a great way to have her visa denied"?
2 minutes ago, geowrian said:Nothing is required from you. They just want to know who is paying for the trip.
Will they question if I have the ability to pay for the trip?

Hello,
I'm a US citizen and my wife is a Green Card holder. My mother-in-law, who lives in Ukraine, wants to visit us. She's retired and her retirement income is not sufficient to cover her trip, so I'll be paying for her trip to the US.
What documents/proof of finances do I need to provide, if I list myself in the "Person/Entity Paying for Your Trip" field on the DS-160 application?
Thank you for any suggestions.

oo sorry i wasn't on visajourney this weekend umm i would read what other folks have done here .. i think i read someone say that they went in the interview with the possibility of getting an RFE for the medical because t was over a year and they did get an RFE and had to get the medical done so maybe you can go in and see if they'll accept your medical instead of spending whatever the cost is beforehand just in case. idk it's up to you. i'll try to see where they posted that.
And no, our interview isn't until end of July so idk what it's like exactly :/
Our case got approved yesterday, how about your case?
