  1. So we are finally scheduled for an interview!!!! I am a little confused about the Form I-693 and vaccination supplement. My husband completed the medical exam prior to receiving K1 (completed medical exam 2/2017) and then upon entry completed missing vaccinations (vaccination supplement), which we sent in with AOS application on 8/16/17. Our interview is scheduled for 8/28/18. Does he need a new medical and I-693?

  2. Thank you to everyone who helped us with our case! After following your advice and contacting the Ombudsman and our senators, we just received the combo card EAD/AP in the mail!!!!

For those of you still waiting, definitely make sure you contact the Omsbudman and congressman! And keep your head up, it will come!

No word on the green card yet. Am I right in that the green card is forwarded on to the local field office for processing? If so, anyone had luck with processing at the Charlotte NC office?

It seems most of the RFIEs other Aug filers have gotten have been for the financial support form. Sometimes it's for things you've already sent (more pay stubs, letter from employer) OR that you don't satisfy the 125% requirement. I don't think it's really possible to "pregather" info since you may not get an RFIE at all, or it could be for something really standard (like if they misplaced your marriage certificate).  If you put your timeline in your signature, it could also be easier for folks to help you :)

    Just updated signature! Hopefully helpful.

I figured it might be case specific but may just start gathering updated financials for just in case. I have gotten lazy about downloading my paystubs :P

  4. Congrats to all who finally have the good news they have been waiting for!!!!! Thanks for sharing that you are getting your EADs, it gives hope to others (including us!!)!

So we took your all's advice and have filed a form with the Omsbudman and have asked for help from our Congresspersons! I forget who mentioned this (it was on the old thread) but they mentioned that a lot of people have faced RFIEs following the prolonged processing times due to essentially "outdated" information. I was wondering what information the RFIE generally is asking to be updated. I would love to be able to sort of "pre-gather" the info so that IF we also get a RFIE due to prolonged time between filing and processing, we can send it ASAP after it arrives!

Sorry to hear you're going through this too. No, the 60 day thing was not accurate in my experience. I got that message Dec 14 and did not get my EAD  decision by Feb 14. You MIGHT have an RFIE on the AOS holding up the process... that's what's happened to a bunch of us here.

I would highly recommend contacting both a Congressperson and the Ombudsman. Both seem to have helped multiple Aug filers finally get their EAD/APs. Service requests are useless.

    Good luck!!

    That's what I was afraid of. :(

Any guidance on Senator vs. Representative? Also in looking at other posts here on VJ, it looks like each congressperson office has a slightly different process but generally require a signed release form (online or snail mail) and then follow up letter/phone call. Any other tips? Or is there a certain sample letter to follow?

    Thanks Hamilton!

  6. Another August filer here! We have been patient in waiting for paperwork but starting to get anxious and wanting to see if there is something else we should do. Our timeline so far...

    6/24/17 Entered on K1 visa

    7/30/17 Married!

8/16/17 AOS packaged sent (EAD, AP, Green Card)

8/22/17 NOAs for I-765 EAD, I-485 GC, and I-131 AP

9/14/17 biometrics appointment for EAD and GC

Since the biometrics we have not heard or received anything :(

Our local office is Charlotte, NC

We opened a case inquiry for the EAD on 12/4/17. No response received and we called again on 1/4/18 and were told that no one had been assigned to our case. On 1/26/18, we got this update on the USCIS My Case Status page "On January 26, 2018, your inquiry about the status of your Employment Authorization application was completed." We also received an email on 1/26/18 that stated "Your case is currently under review. You should receive a decision or notice of other action within 60 days of the date of this letter."

My question is, for others who received a similar email, was this timeline accurate (did you get your EAD within 60 days)? Is there something else we should do to help speed along the process to get the EAD, as well as the Green Card?

Thanks for posting about your experiences - the VJ community has been such a wonderful source of info and encouragement for us in this process from day 1!!!! :)

  7. Very late update but in case anyone else has the same question, we were granted a case extension! We emailed ivmadrid@state.gov and got this response:

Incluya en los documentos que va a enviar una carta firmada por su prometida, la peticionaria, en la que se reafirme en su intención de casarse con usted cuando entre en los Estados Unidos con su visado de prometido, de esa manera el oficial consular extenderá la validez de su petición por cuatro meses más.

Si ya ha enviado los documentos, simplemente traiga la carta el día de la entrevista.

     Un saludo.

     IV Unit Madrid.

For those who don't read Spanish, we were asked to include a letter signed by the US petitioner reaffirming their intention to marry the Spanish citizen upon their arrival to the US. We were told that if we already had sent the documents in the mail to have my fiance (now husband!) bring the signed letter to the interview.
