Passed the interview today @ Sacramento office. Now, waiting for same day oath .

We are going to do stamping @ Peace bridge ( usa-cdn )  .  After the stamping process of I-551 , I have following questions.

We will settle in California in May 2017 only.   In the mean time , After stamping can I visit local SSA office in Buffalo and apply for SSN , even though my residence is california.

The reason why i need SSN  is to look for Jobs .  Most of them are asking for SSN.

Once your interview got scheduled , N/A will be paid again .. That's normal , nothing to panic.

Once USCIS status updates to case was sent to Department of state, you should give minimum one week to call NVC.

Yes, Mine was transferred to TSC on 12th Oct and approved on 31 Oct. I am still waiting for NVC to receive my case. Is there a better way contact NVC I emailed them but no reply.

Called them just Now, they r saying since NVC didn't send any welcome letter they can't review DS 261.

Should I wait for the welcome letter or call NVC again?

On nov 4 - called NVC , they provided the case number & IIN .. They asked my email & beneficiary ..

I didn't get any email from them like welcome letter etc ... But i went ahead did DS-261 and got it completed .

After 10 days you can start calling NVC for Case Number & Invoice Number .

On november 1st I got this email from Nebraska Service Center:

".... The petition and all supporting documents were forwarded to the National Visa Center (NVC) for consulate processing...."

Do I need to wait the NVC get in touch with me?

To get case number from NVC - again 2 to 3 weeks.

Mine reached NVC Oct 27. Still waiting for case number..

After 7 months (PD March 23th) we got approved this morning!!

Now we need to wait for them to send our case to NVC. Do you have any idea how long they take for that?

On a average Nebraska takes 5 to 6 months. Nothing to worry , As long as your petition is not error prone, you will receive positive news from them.

I always check online in USCIS website once a day .

I've got a profile created with them, but have heard from others that they received NOA2s with NO update to the status listed on the USCIS status checker, hence the question. I saw you recently got your NOA2, has your USCIS tracker status updated?
