We're now at new Orleans local office. Which is closet to my state. Been there since late November/ December
Are u and the beneficiary/petitioner both in the US? Because that exactly what happened to us. We were tranferred to our local office in August awaiting a marriage interview, which happened 6 months later.. we were just approved in February.

Yes, I made the request. I've been transfered like 5x!!!! Its crazy. Ombudsman closed case. Office said we were still in back ground checks.
O man, can u reopen a new case? reopen a new service inquiry? find another lawmaker to help you? what service center are you currently at? is there anything in backgrounds that could have prompted this?
-
have you made an ombudsman inquiry? theres a link on the uscis website. Were you ever transferred? Has there been any action at all?

My I130 was approved on February 3rd. I received an email from NVC (Nationals Visa Center). It stated that they will now be processing my case. The email states that I need to pay certain fees. It also gives a list of documents that need to be submitted. I will eventually be submitting the I601A waiver, but not for at least 6 months.
My question: Do I pay and submit all of these documents PRIOR to submitting the I601A? Or do I wait until it's been approved (which could be 18 months from now)? The email states that the fees/documents will expire after one year. I don't expect to have an approved I601A within one year. Should I wait?

I was approved on February 2nd!! Finally... we did have a marriage interview too. What is the next step? What for NVC to contact me? We are till working on our I601A waiver, so I'm not in a rush.

wow thats amazing, yes the beneficiary is in the country
so how did you do congressional inquiry?
You can find your local lawmakers: http://www.senate.gov/senators/contact/senators_cfm.cfm?State=PA and see if they can help. The USC would need to reside in their district. My senator had a "get help" link on their website and I was able to contract them through that.

yes. we were transferred to nbc in July. i did a congressional inquiry in October amd found my case was transferred to my local office. Then ombudsman told me in December that we were awaiting the scheduling of an interview. Then i received notice of an interview in the mail in january. then we had interview in feb 1 and were approved. if the beneficiary is in the country they automatically schedule an interview.

How is this done? Do you just contact you and they help you check your case? Do they charge you for this service? Thanks for your help, this is new to me.
No they do not charge. This is a service for the USC. Yes, you contact them and they help you (if they can and are willing). If you can't find a link for help on their website, you can certainly call. Many of them have staff members dedicated to helping USC's navigate government agencies. For example, my senator was Bob Casey. He has a staff member that is solely dedicated. She was amazing and requested an update from USCIS every 30 days on our behalf.

or you can contact the Ombudsman, but you're looking at a long wait. Worth it for me though! Here's the link:

I filed at the begining of April too, and no I haven't spoken to a congressman. How do you do that?
I hope we get approved in February too, it's nice to know that someone is on the same boat as we are.
you can start by finding your local DEMOCRATIC senator here on this website. They are most likely to help you. Go to their website and look for "help" page.

Update: We are also still waiting, however I received notice in the mail this week that we've been scheduled for a marriage interview at our local office. The date is February 1st (gave us 10 days to prepare). We both have to attend since my hubby is in the US. We are very very scared because he has a removal order in absentia from 12 years ago. He could easily be picked up by immigration, but we are hoping for the very best. Good luck to every one else!!!!
-
yes he could. From what I understand it's an Obama executive immigration order, which Trump has vowed to remove when he takes office.

I see that there's an I601 forum, but why isn't there an I601a forum? Maybe I'm missing something.

is your wife living in US? Because you can file directly with a taxpayer assistance center. They verify the passport right there and then send your application and tax return directly to the correct address.

Still Waiting....
-
Desperately hoping that we get approved soon!!! Still nothing after several Tier 2 calls, online service request, 2 congressional inquiry's, and finally, just received an email today that ombudsman is looking into it. I need to get our I601A application in ASAP, before new prez It's our only hope. I will never stop fighting for my husband. This process is exhausting to say the least.
-
Definitely call. I know for a fact that online status check is not updated regularly.
-
Finally Approved after 7 months. PD April 7.
You are very lucky! Congrats. Still waiting for our marriage interview and, pray to god, approval. Tick tock.

what about Philadelphia? there are wonderful suburban neighborhoods in the Northeast section. you can get a 4 bedroom single for around 200k. lots of career opportunities, nestled between DC and NY. Commuting into city takes 20 minutes via rail. theres a nice culture/US history. public school system is not great though. could try for charter, catholic, or private
-
I noticed that too. They haven't updated website (in a mass way) since late September. I've seen one or two cases with a change the entire month. Something is definitely up
-
Today marks 6 months. I was able to submit a case inquiry online.
-
Did it help ? Are you still waiting for an approval ? I am really considering calling the senate office. Thank you for your reply. I appreciate it.
No approval yet, but yes, it helps give me piece of mind. I was getting no where with Tier 1 or 2. I found out my case had been transferred from Potomac to NBC (knew that part), then transferred again from NBC to my local office, I found out I am in queue for a marriage interview. My senator will reach back out in 30 days if I don't get an update in that time.

Good Morning ,
How many March fillers are still waiting for I-130 approval ? My PD is March 29th. Spoke to Tier 2 supervisor this morning and he said " YOU'RE STILL WITHIN THE PROCESSING TIME AS NEBRASKA IS PROCESSING CASES FROM MARCH 2ND " which I know is a COMPLETE lie . I have a friend who filled in May and had her approval two weeks ago. I am so upset . I don't know what to do. He won't open a service request for me . He said to call back in 45 days and he will open one but, right now I have to WAIT.
I filed in mid-April and received a very exact answer by doing a congressional inquiry. You should try it.

I thought in most states, if you can't show SSN, you are allowed to use secondary identification like a birth certificate -translated-. This is also listed as needed items to obtain a license in Philadelphia according to their website.
Yes this is the exact link for what we used/needed.

The case was transferred from NBC to my local office. We were approved (at a marriage interview in Philadelphia) on Feb 1 2017. So it took from July to Feb.
