Sorry, I can't answer your questions but did you do EP? And how long did it take to get CC? Congrats 😊

I did do EP. My scan date was 3/17. However, the NVC told us we sent in a wrong document...but we didn't. We followed the exact instructions on the NVC website to get this document. This really annoyed me, my husband, and my lawyer, so we pretty much had it out with the NVC these past couple weeks via phone and email. My lawyer got an email today saying our case was complete.

Today we hit our six weeks mark for electronic processing at the NVC (We sent out our packet the night of December 20th, our  Ds260 was completed prior to that) . I spoke with a representative and they told us that they are putting it in for Supervisor review which can take up to six weeks from today. He also informed me that if we get a checklist that can take an additional six weeks, then after we are good and we will be put in the line for an interview. (Which he said can take anywhere from 1 week to three months)

We have a baby on the way the first week of July and we have lost all hope of the visa arriving before that, or if it will ever actually happen. We are considering giving up the whole process and just living here in Brazil permanently. This whole process is an absolute joke and we are completely exhausted.

I am very grateful for all of the support, help, and information that you all post. It honestly made a HUGE impact on us. Thank you!

Yes this process is definitely a joke. My husband and I are just having to deal with living apart for awhile. He is in Canada while I am back here in the US...it's been like this since June 2016. I am not sure if being apart is something you'll consider but whoever is the US citizen could go back to the US and get a job and start to set up a life for you both there while the other stays. I know you have a baby on the way which complicates thing but is there family that could help support while you guys are apart? We just paid our NVC fees and are waiting for them to be processed. Our lawyer said from this point it could be as short as 2 months before it's all over or as long as 5 months. There's just no telling, which is dumb. I am sorry!

We just been approve Jan 27 i put the service request on Jan 20 because its been over 7 months since we filed. Does anyone know what's the next step and how much longer will it be?

You need to wait for the application to be sent to the National Visa Center. This usually takes 3-5 business days. Once it is there it will be processed into their system and within a few weeks you should get a welcome letter from them explaining your next steps.

  4. I filed priority date May 18, 2016. Got approved this past Wednesday the 18th on Jan. I put a service request in on Dec 29 when I realized the Nebraska Service Center was processing cases after mine on their website. I also have my senator, congressman, and a lawyer in on it. Although it's unclear if their involvement helped...still waiting on instructions if what to do next.

  5. Thanks for everyones help and advice on this. Now I guess I am just focused on having him here for our wedding celebration. It's clear he won't be able to stay here the whole time. But for the wedding celebration and then visits after that would be nice. So I guess it is just up to the CBP officer that day if he/she believes my husband that he will return to Canada with his return flight ticket.

  6. Im not sure why it says I did a K-3 visa...thats not what we did. We lived outside of the US in Abu Dhabi and got married there in Feb of this year. Then filed the i130 in May. Then we moved back to North America in June. He is in Canada and I am in the US. However he did just make a small trip to Chicago and they let him in...they questioned him and needed to see a return flight plan but they did let him.

  7. Hello everyone,

I live in Abu Dhabi and sent my husbands i-130 form to the Chicago lockbox about a month ago (he is Canadian and we both will be moving from Abu Dhabi to American in a few months). However, we put so many documents and things in a binder along with the i-130 but forgot to send the money order with it! We didn't even get notification if it was received or anything yet....any idea what to do next? Thanks!
