Marlene, remember that link about the supplemental thing that you posted? Do you have any idea if that holds true for K1?

  2. Contact the UAE embassy there and see what they can do.

already sent the NBI fingerprint card authenticated by the UAE embassy in Manila to the Dubai Police general headquarters. That's how i got to know that I can not get a clearance because of the absconding report that my employer filed.

If I do not present the Dubai police clearance (i have lost all hope that I will be able to get one), will I be denied because of this? Any idea?

  3. I stayed in Dubai for 10months and left without informing my employer. Just packed my bags and went home.

Now, I can't get a Dubai Police clearance because my employer won't cooperate. My employer did tell me that they didn't file a case against me, they just reported that I was absconding.

Will this be grounds for denial? (Not having my dubai police clearance) I have my NBI clearance from the Phils and I have no record whatsoever.

any input will be welcome. I've been really depressed these past few days. :crying::crying:

  4. Well, as most of you know I've been struggling with the stresses of my petition  . I mean, I've been spreading my personal business all over this site like butter on toast

After talking to several VJ members I decided to seek the consultation of an immigration lawyer. I found a lawyer on the internet who does free consultations. I told him my story and concerns of IMBRA. He told me to relax!!! he said they are looking for domestic violence and the law is mostly geared towards people who met through a marriage broker. He asked how we met?, in states, no problem! he asked if this is my first petition? yes, no problem! He asked what the convictions were? DUI's, no problem! He said Police records do not come certified in the state of Maryland and the certified court records showing charges and disposition should be good enough. If they even feel the need to investigate further (knowing the nature of the crimes he doubts it) they can get all the information they want. He said it's a good thing I sent in the Police records I had anyway, it shows intent.

He said they may take longer to adjudicate my petition because of extra name checks and the possible investigation of other "hits", but since the other "hits" are not listed as "specified crimes" they will be ok. He said at the end of the day my petition should be approved. That was music to my ears!!

If worse comes to worse (which I'm not worried about anymore) I talked to the Embassy in Poland and the lawyer about DCF. They said there would be no problems of convictions for the petitioner in that visa process. I also don't have to be a resident, just physically present to file.

so, I think I might actually get some work done today

Hi! I hope you don't mind but can u please give me the name of the immigration lawyer that you talked to? And how we can contact him. I'm really stressed out about my petition also and it would be great if we can consult with him.

    Thanks in advance!

  5. I found a Department of State supplemental information sheet that says you won't need the police clearance from U.A.E. as they are only available to those residing there and apply in person.

    http://permanent.access.gpo.gov/lps1701/lp.../ca/dsl1083.pdf

How is it that you left Dubai without cancelling your residence visa?

thanks for that marlene! you are a heaven sent!:star:

I am allowed to go home every year, with a free ticket. But as i had some personal emergency and couldn't wait for my annual leave, i bought my own ticket and went home. Sounds stupid now, but at that time, my fiance and i thought it was best for me to go home.

thank you so much for that post! i have almost lost hope and was really depressed these past few days. my fiance was constantly calling just to cheer me up.

  6. Do you guys know of any case where the girl failed to present a police clearance from another country that she's stayed in for more than six months?

If so, was she still approved, or was denied, or was put on AR?

I am quite bothered by this. Apparently, i can't be issued a Dubai Police clearance because my UAE residence visa is not yet cancelled till now. :(

  7. Sillygirl,

My friend in Dubai did not go to the DFA in UAE all she did after I sent her all the documents is to submit to the Police Department. I got mine with no problem. By the way, did you submit your NBI clearance to the UAE embassy in Manila for authentication before you sent in to your friend in Dubai? maybe that is the case.

Ask your friend for more details or call the UAE embassy in Manila they might be able to help you.

    marlene

    My two cents on this:

    1) If police clearance is already authenticated by UAE Foreign Affairs, then no need for UAE Embassy in Manila to authenticate it.

    2) If police clearance is not authenticated by UAE Foreign Affairs, then send to UAE Embassy in Manila for authentication

Better to have UAE Foreign Affairs authenticate it before sending to Manila. I also suggest calling UAE Embassy to confirm procedures to be followed.

    Hi again Marlene!

Yes, my NBI is already authenticated by the UAE embassy in manila before i sent it to my friend.

    PW, thanks for the advice.

My friend told me that she can get my clearance on the 31st of July so i plan to call the embassy on monday and ask them if i need to have the Dubai Police Clearance authenticated by their Dept. of Foreign Affairs in Dubai. Basically, this is the only document that i am having trouble with.

thanks again for the replies. it keep panic attacks at bay.:lol:

  8. Hi Sillygirl,

This is marlene, after I got my NBI clearance I submitted it to Malacanang for authentication. Then I sent it to the UAE Embassy in Makati via courier with manager's cheque included as payment for their authentication. They will send it back to you via courier also. I submitted it to Dubai Police Dept after I got the authentication from the UAE Embassy. I suggest you call the UAE embassy as to the exact amount of authentication charges.

    Good luck.

Hi Marlene! Thanks for the reply....

but what i meant to ask was: Is your Dubai police clearance authenticated by the UAE Foreign Affairs in Dubai? After your agent got the Dubai Police Certificate, did she need to go to the UAE Foreign Affairs in Dubai?

My authenticated NBI fingerprint card is already in my friend's possession in Dubai. But she told me that the DUBAI POLICE CLEARANCE needs to be authenticated by the UAE Foreign Affairs pa.

    quite confusing.

  9. It took 2 weeks for the clearance to be processed after being presented in person.

DHL took 2 - 3 days each way.

The lady acting as our agent also had to arrange time off work to turn it in and pick it up.

    hi john_and_marlene!

have another question for you..

the dubai Police Certificate that you got, was it authenticated by th UAE Foreign Affairs in Dubai? If so, was it authenticated by your agent or was it given to her authenticated already?

I sent my documents to my friend already, together with a foreign demand draft (from PNB) but she told me that they won't honor the cheque. But that's ok. she can easily pay Dhs110 for me. But she told me that the Certificate needs to be authenticated by the UAE Foreign Affairs. Hope you can help me out here.

    :)

  10. hi all! i hope you can help me out here...

I have read that a late registered BC has caused some problems to other girls. I have a late registered BC. I want to be prepared and bring supporting docs for the late registration on my interview. So far, these are the only ones that I thought of:

    1. Negative certification of birth from NSO (Certificate of no record)

    2. Baptismal Certificate

    3. Certified true copy of my voter's registration record

Can you suggest any other documents that can be included in my supporting docs for the late registration?

    :help::help::help:

    Thanks in advance! :)

  11. lol im still working on making Yove yell and scream......... do you know how hard it is to get a filipina to scream in anger and complain..... they'd rather do tampo instead i hate tampo :P

Be happy Yove is what she is. You wouldn't wish a " screaming, angry and nagging Filipina wife" to your worst enemy. We're the worst kind, I tell ya :devil::devil:

no truer words were said PW!:devil::lol:

  12. In my case, I did not use the forms that were in my packet. I filled up the forms on-line and had no problems at the embassy. When you print the on-line form, the space for barcode should also come out as blank.

thanks for the quick reply. one more question...

did you sign the forms before going to the embassy or did you sign them in front of the consul? i read somewhere that you have to sign them in front of the consul.

    thanks again! :D

  13. HEY FRIENDS, TAKE NOTE OF THIS --> The link to the embassy’s downloadable packet for K and IR is now fixed. Please click the link http://usembassy.state.gov/posts/rp1/wwwh3227.html

    hi PW!

i was just wondering... there won't be any problem if we fill out the forms online and print it instead of using the forms that we got together with the packet?

there is a box for barcode but it's blank on the forms that we recieved and i'm not sure if the forms that we got are in any way tied to our case number. i don't think that's the case but hearing other people's opinion will be a great help. :)

  14. It took 2 weeks for the clearance to be processed after being presented in person.

DHL took 2 - 3 days each way.

The lady acting as our agent also had to arrange time off work to turn it in and pick it up.

thanks for the info! i'll probably just send it to my friend who's still in Dubai just to be on the safe side.

    thanks again! :)

  15. Congrats JohnandMarlene on your AOS approval.

Hey jeeleebee, glad you're sticking around like rebel and JohnandMarlene. Most of our old members are gone now. Yup, AOS input is welcome here so those of us still on their way to the US will know how to go about it.

Good luck to jpg for Monday's interview.

Updated to welcome tomnjas to the thread. Can you please provide us with your Manila case number? 2006 656 packet rcd July 11, 2006

hi! it seems we have the same interview date. when do you plan on taking your medical?

  16. Thanks for the congratulations ... we are very happy about the AOS approval.

Yes, she did send an authorization letter. She was able to process it without any problem.

The person that did it for us was a relative of a friend. She didn't know Marlene personally and asked for more compensation than we thought reasonable, but we paid it. With the DHL fees both ways, Western Union fees, and her expenses and compensation, we spent about $300.

wow, that is a big amount! how quickly did Marlene get the certificate? from the time she sent the dox to Duabi and that person finished processing it.

  17. We were warned bye the UAE Embassy that it might take 3 months to get the clearance back from Dubai. Instead, we arranged to send the completed request to a relative of a friend that was working in Dubai via DHL. We wired her travel and inconvenience and return DHL expenses via Western Union and she presented the request in person. We didn't want to wait for months to get it back.

3months???? that is horrible! can you please give me a contact number/person or email address from the UAE embassy that you talked to? m looking for the email of the Dubai police, thinking or corresponding with them as well.

your friend who is working in Dubai, was she able to process it without any problems? did you send an authorization letter to her? sorry for all the questions... i am a little bothered by that "3months" wait.

    i forgot...

john_and_marlene, congratulations on ur AOS approval!

Actually I didnt literally ask for an early appointment date I just asked them if they can drop the packet to st. lukes instead of sending it to my home address :(. Bdw, I did this through calling st. lukes .

I called the ff number 528-6300 ext 5184 and 1-9097-101-7878; they gave me different feedbacks. Based from the customer service call center if the support from this 528-6300 ext 5184 told me to go back to st. lukes for a new appointment letter then I should follow the said lady. Actually the customer support from the 528-6300 ext 5184 gave me a very surprising date which I'm thinking that she got confused with the details (bec she's not real happy of me calling to this number; according to her this number is just for other countries and I admit that it's my fault :hehe: ). Now I'm still at lost. I think a wise decision should be going back to St. Lukes tom morning without any assurance of getting a new appointment letter with appoinment date. Sigh!? waste of time and waste of money in the name of love. :(

    hi brittaniquec!

did you call the customer service number first before you called St. Luke's and requested for your packet? I'm no expert but like PW said, the embassy might not yet have an interview date for you that's why you got a packet with an appointment letter that has no intervie and medical.

In my case, I called the customer service center first and only when i was sure that i have an interview date already did i request for my packet at St. Luke's. I got my packet with the appointment letter stating my interview and medical date.

    Thanks PW.

I got my packet with the appointment letter.
