Actually what they say is that a recession last about 18 months and if we have been in one since december 2007 then we should start seeing a turnaround in july or august. The other thing that worries me is how many states are running huge deficits. California has rung up about 17billion because of bad fiscal policy and that state alone in among the top ten economies of the world. What if a state goes belly up can we sell california back to mexico or maybe russia wants to buy it now.

My wife expressed her like for Clinton during the primaries and at that time informed me we had to vote as a family,(read vote her way or else). I on the other hand like to wait for the debates to see which candidate is unable to listen and answer the question that was asked not keep repeating the same rhetoric. Personally I feel that this country (USA) needs to reevaluate its election system. Drop the electoral college, give every candidate an equal chance to get elected( why cant we have 3rd party candidates on every ballot), the person with the most votes wins. It seems simple and works all over the world. Back to the subject I agree with AK. This country has enough internal issues that need to be addressed now that to worry about who attacked who and what everyone else in the world is up to. Our government should mind it own business until we are called upon to help.

The truth is there will never be a justification for either act. Perhaps Russia did go a little strong but as I described it to my friends at work who really have no understanding, if Cuba started lobbing mortars into Puerto Rico, we would have marched all the way from the Bay of Pigs to downtown Havana. Most of the areas like S Ossetia declared themselves independent when the Soviet Union fell apart, noone seemed to recognize them and their rights to govern themselves. Then Georgia starts making waves or some S Ossetian didnt pay a parking ticket and all hell breaks loose. Well shame on Georgia for mortaring another country and shame on Russia for not stopping at the Georgia border and securing S Ossetia.

As for Iraq, remember this all started with the US running around in Afghanistan looking for Bin Laden, we never found him(at least that is what they are telling us now) Bush and especially Cheney got frustrated and couldnt figure out why it was taking so long. So they set their eyes on a target that wasnt going anywhere, formulated a plan got it approved and went after Hussein, who by no means is innocent as far as being a bad guy. We went after Iraq thought it would only delay things in Afghanistan a week or two and then discovered that you cant take 3 ethnically diverse people(Shiites, Sunis and the Kurds) cram them all together and think they are going to play nice. We should have learned from vietnam that the best way to unite a split society is to give them a common enemy. How long do you think it will take once we pull out, in eighteen months or 100 years, before things will completely fall apart again?

The US needs to work on its domestic issues first, help out when we are called upon, work with our allies, negotiate with our enemies for peace, Iran is a danger that is for sure but not just a danger to us, better to talk to them first, figure out their intentions and deal with them as a global partner rather than a cowboy in town for a good weekend.

I attempted to get tourist visas for friend in south america and I was informed by the woman who worked in my senators office that the state department has an unwritten rule that "No woman traveling alone whos originating country is considering a developing country will be given approval for a tourist visa" It was a waste time and money and Im sorry you had to learn it that way.

I never understood the idea of sleeping on ironed sheets, once you sleep on them they are wrinkled, do you iron them every day or do you change your sheets every day, thats like using a new towel every morning after a shower, shoot talk about wasting money on water and electricity.

I like my pants ironed, which my wife does when she irons her jeans(why I have no idea do jeans wrinkle?). I wear polo shirts to work every day so no ironing for them. Thats all I will say about that I dont mind ironing when I have to I just dont like to have to.
