Basically, in the end, he's lucky as $%*& to be with me, and vice versa. If he at any point doesn't see it that way, that's up to him. He's gotta be with me because he wants to, not because he's safe from temptation because he never leaves the house.
I love this comment.
You know, going through the separated-from-one's-loved-one thing, you'd think we'd all have HUGE amounts of trust. I know I do, and so does my fiance. In Iceland, the bars are open all night, so it's common and socially acceptable for people to be out all night. In fact, we were out all night (until 6 in the morning) the day after we first met, just hanging out and chatting. And sometimes he will get home from being out with his friends (whom I know and trust) and he will talk to me online after he gets home. I know he will never drink and drive, and I know that he would never cheat on me, so I don't worry.
And really, neither of us needs to go out THAT much. But if it comes up, and I can't or don't want to go, then I wouldn't begrudge him of that. Now, if he went out until the early morning on his own EVERY weekend, that would bother me. But it's more the not seeing your spouse than the fact that I wouldn't trust him.

No way toupee!! Ick!
My fiancé has been going bald since he was a teenager. So it's not like there are any bad surprises, I know what he looks like already.
And I think he's just fine how he is.
Anyway, think about Sean Connery if you want to think of famous people, no one will argue that he is good looking!
BTW did anyone ever see the Weekly World News tou-pet? (There was an issue with a guy with an angora rabbit on his head, too priceless!)

How far in advance can you fill out the I-134? Since you need things like an official letter from the bank and you need it notorized, I want to get it out of the way. Plus I am going over there next month and I wanted to bring him all the documents he needs for his interview.
I looked at the form and the instructions and didn't see anything about it has to be completed X amount of time before submitting. I figured there must be some limitation otherwise you could complete it a year ahead.
Thanks!

So now that I don´t have to stalk the USCIS site, I am going through what we need to do now. I have been reading the vaccine requrements and I found the CDC site with details on the vaccine series schedules.
The one that worries me is Hepatitis B, it has 3 shots, and the 3rd is not for 4-6 months:
http://www.cdc.gov/nip/publications/VIS/vis-hep-b.pdf
Do we have to wait before he gets all 3 shots in the series before we can do the AOS? Since it says you need the vaccines before AOS?
Also can he do some of the series over there and some over here?

Congrats!!
Does Vermont always send out an E-mail when a case is approved?
I signed up for email notification. I think so, if you sign up for that.
Can you post your case status online stating your approval? I am just confused if we really are approved or our case status means something else. I want to compare them if you don't mind. Thank you in advance.Application Type: I129F , PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)
Current Status:
This case has been approved. On July 10, 2006, an approval notice was mailed. If 30 days have passed and you have not received this notice, you may wish to verify or update your address. To update your address, please speak to an Immigration Information Officer during business hours.
If you have questions or concerns about your application or the case status results listed above, or if you have not received a decision or advice from USCIS within the projected processing time frame*, please contact the National Customer Service Center.

My fiancé has recently started medicine for his back which has been helping immensely. When he comes over, can he just bring a prescription from home, or does he have to find a local doctor to prescribe it?
(also, there are no restrictions on getting foreign spouses onto your healthcare plan, right, once we are married I can just add him?)
Thanks!
-
when is his sister's due date? when are you thinking of getting married? from your timeline, it appears that you still have at least 3-4 months ahead of you ....
She's due in mid-October and I just got my NOA2 email. I guess everything will work out one way or another planning wise, it's just frustrating to not be able to be sure about the timing. As we all know, I guess I just wanted to vent among sympathesizers.
-
They just sent the approval notice THIS MORNING (5:45) and said it was mailed out July 10. (Updating timeline after I post.... I guess I will put July 10 for NOA2 date?)
Is VSC working around the clock to get these things out because of that AP article putting all eyes on USCIS, or are they usually this good anyway?
I can't even believe it, I am so happy!!!!

I am finding this whole thing frustrating, like how do you plan on sending out invitations when you have no idea when the date is? My fiancé's sister is pregnant so depending on when the approval is we either have to wait for his parents to be able to come (because his mum wants to stay with her for when the baby is born) or hurry up and have it before the baby is born (if it gets approved in time, which looks doubtful)... so we either have to rush out invitations if that is the case or else I guess we will have time.
We are lucky that I go to a small church, so the priest can work with us on the date.
We are going to do the reception at my house, and cater it ourselves (he, his mom, and I are all food snobs and control freaks, so it's really the only way
) so the food is just going to the market (or maybe getting a deal from a food wholesaler)
I am going to do the flowers myself (as a former florist) and it will be pretty simple anyway, I would like to order roses for my bouquet.
He had a vintage tux already and I bought a tux shirt from him from a shop that was going out of business (and it looks really nice on him, he tried it on when I was visiting).
I just got my dress.
You read those wedding planning sites and they say "oh you should have this taken care of here" and so on so I worry there is more I should be doing but there is only so much preplanning you can do when you don't know the dates. I figured everyone here will appreciate the frustration.

Well, while telephone is by far the nicest second best to in person, if we talk on IM we can do it while doing other things.
-
You can also send them by ship. When my fiancé comes, he is going to ship some of his stuff, at least in Iceland they have a big shipping company that goes to NYC. I'm sure there must be something in mainland Europe like that, especially seeing as when I sent a gift surface mail (never again!) the USPS sends it to Germany first. (This they told me after I inquired where the heck it had gotten to.)
-
I think it´s horrible and mean-spirited. Well, maybe I´ve just seen too many weddings where it got out of hand.
I think the feeding thing is really sweet, but messing up the other person´s face is just mean.
-
Where is your fiancée from? Her culture might determine what is the "right" thing.
In Iceland you often just wear your wedding bands on the right hand to signify engagement. So when we knew we wanted to get married, we just went online wedding ring shopping, and then when he came over here to visit he brought them with him. It was every bit as exciting to get the ring that I had seen pictures of online.
We bought them from a shop in Reykjavík that has a web presence (we wanted to get them from a person and not a corporation) but there must be plenty of online shops you can look at together if that's how you want to do it. (Engagement/wedding sets as well).

Was that an email or snail mail?
Also, when did u send it? When did they reiceive it?
How long is there turn around?
I sent it this last Friday. It takes 2 days for mail to get to VT from my house. They received it Monday (I tracked it with the certified #) and I got the email late Tuesday night.
So that seems pretty darn quick to me.
I'm thinking we forum members should chip in and send them a basket of cookies and coffee or something for all their hard work!

Wow, they processed my IMBRA RFE LATE last night!
Here was the response I got:
"On June 27, 2006, we received your response to our request for evidence or information. However because preliminary processing was complete, the remaining processing time will be less than the maximum stated in this message. You will receive a written decision on this case. You can use our processing dates to estimate when this case will be done. Follow the the link below for current processing dates.
If you have questions or concerns about your application or the case status results listed above, or if you have not received a decision or advice from USCIS within the projected processing time frame*, please contact the National Customer Service Center."
What does this mean? Does this mean, we did everything we needed to, now you are back in the pile, wait a few more months? Is it a good sign, bad sign, neutral sign?
And I noticed VT still hasn't updated their processing dates. However, with the speed they are turning around their IMBRA RFEs I guess I can't really complain.

We were talking last night when we found out our RFE was mailed, and I asked him if he thought I should spend the money on express mailing the form back. His point was why waste the money since we are so far down on the list anyway (NOA1 date 6/6). So I think I will send it certified. (Plus it takes about 2 days for it to get there with normal post, which isn't so bad.)
So while we are all anxiously stalking our mailboxes, how are other people sending it back when you get it?

Sent I-129F 5/23
VT received form 5/25
NOA1 date 6/6
RFE mailed from VT today (6/19)!!! Yay!

The EAD that he could get on entry is, seemingly, only given out at JFK airport and, as mdyoung indicated, it is only valid up to the expiry date of the K-1.
(Reviving this topic as I am really interested in this as well)
I'm new here and I've been reading this board, and I keep seeing references to the fact that people seem to think JFK is the only place that will give a temporary EAD. Is there a way to confirm this? Or someone to ask if the airport of our choice would do that? Like the original poster, we're a way off from this, but money is really tight for me and it would be so nice if he could work sooner than later. I would much prefer he flew into Logan as it's an easier airport to navigate, he knows his way from there, and so on. JFK scares me. So... whom could one call to find this out?
Thanks!

When I sent my package, it took a really long time to get the return card. They received it 25 May (I checked USPS online) and I think I got the card the following week. Maybe even longer than a week.

When I've gone out with work mates, usually one person is the collector (someone good at math to make sure we aren't shorting the tip). And usually we would end up over with the tip.
If you run into problems like this frequently, I recommend separate checks. Tell the waitress up front, because I've gone out with friends and had the waitress roll her eyes at us when people needed to leave and asked for separate checks.
