  1. Help! I have no idea what to do.

My hubby's name is spelled correctly on his green card. When we got the receipt letter for the Removal of Conditions application, they didn't have his full middle name, just his middle initial.

Now that we got the biometrics appointment letter, his middle name is misspelled. How do we fix this? Do we need to send a letter to the USCIS? Does he just tell them at his biometrics appointment?

Why don't they cross reference the name from the green card anyway? Don't they have computers?

  2. Thanks Girls!

It's funny Sil is so excited, he is showing everybody the picture of the baby, my parents just sa it a few mintes ago through the webcam, they were really happy too.

I don't know if I asked this before but when did you told people that you were pregnant?? I'm just almost 7 weeks, still too early???

    Vi

We waited until 12 weeks to tell everyone but our parents and my sister-in-law which we told right away (since she has maternity clothes she can send me). But that was just in case something went wrong, we didn't want to have to deal with telling everyone that. Not that something can't go wrong further along, but it's more "official". If you want to tell people now, go ahead and tell them!

I am 17 weeks now, it's so exciting!

  3. This is a fun topic since I am pregnant. :)

We actually already picked names, if it is a boy it will have an Icelandic first name (because it is a saga name that I really like) and a name that passes in both Icelandic and American cultures (and happens to be my grandfather's name) for a middle name. If it's a girl, it will be named after my mother-in-law and the middle name will be very Icelandic too, but a pretty name (so I don't think she would get teased for it).

Since the child will be a dual citizen, we have to give it an acceptable Icelandic name due to the Icelandic rules... but that's fine by me.

  4. Wow, everyone sends so many documents! Is it really necessary to send many copies of taxes etc? Our taxes are like 15 pages or something since I have some freelance income.

I was originally thinking of sending copies of car insurance, joint credit cards, joint bank account statements, joint cel phone statements. All of our utilities and the house is in my name since I lived here before he came. I was also thinking of sending a copy of my OB's medical records since I am pregnant and I figured that was a pretty good documentation of a relationship. Do you think sending medical records is weird or will it be helpful? Will we have enough evidence or are photos etc really helpful? I would think the USCIS would recommend them if they were looking for them, they did for the AOS.

    Thanks!

  5. Doesn't it say in the instructions to ONLY put EAD fee on one check and then the AOS and FINGERPRINTING fee on another check? That is two separate cases so why put everything on one check.

Not as far as I could tell, but I sent 2 separate checks figuring the 2 applications might go to different people to be processed.

To the OP, do you have online banking? I would check with my bank to see if the check has been cashed and if so what the amount was. Are you sure you included enough for the biometrics fee?

  6. I misremembered my password for the USCIS site and then managed to lock myself out. Now I can't get my password reset because it is asking me my security question and I must have worded it weirdly or used weird case because it keeps telling me my answer is wrong.

So I tried clicking the feedback link to contact them to ask them to reset it, but that link is broken.

Does anyone know how to contact them to fix your password?

    Thanks!

  7. We just sent our AOS paperwork and I am still glad we decided to send the EAD application. Yeah, sure, it might be almost $200. But if the green card takes even 1 month longer than the EAD, then he could make more than that back. And if the green card is fast, I still wouldn't regret it.

As for the AP, we don't have money to visit Iceland anytime soon anyway. The earliest we probably could go is New Years 2008 (besides which, I have no vacation time left at my job until next year). If he didn't have his GC by then, I guess we could file for advanced parole.

  8. I was wondering, does anyone have any idea how long it takes for tax transcripts to arrive? I ordered mine a while ago, figuring that was easiest (I don't have all the W2s, so I would have to track them down). However, if it's going to take much longer I might be better off tracking down the missing W2s after all. We want to get the paperwork sent soon so that he doesn't have to be out of work too long.

  9. This a question for those that got married upon entry with a K-1 visa.

I presume that your wife's family was not present, what type of wedding did you had and how many people attended it.

My wife's family didn't attend, my husband would have been mad!! ;)

My non-USC husband's mother and father, niece and nephew, and former bandmate all attended (and stayed with us for the wedding.) My (wonderful) MIL did most of the cooking. It was really great. We had a church wedding and somewhere around 30 people at our self-catered in-home reception (because we couldn't afford to feed any more and no more Icelanders could come). We also learned we could have had more people, since Americans eat less than Icelanders. ;) (Our food calculations were based on Icelandic portion sizes).

  10. This is my point. The gross income from the 1040 (filed jointly) is X+Y. My gross income is X. So following the instructions, it sounds like I would put that X+Y, but that would be wrong, since it is not all my income. So to me, MY income from that year seems like it would make the most sense, but that is NOT the gross income on the 1040 form.

Nobody's done this before? Should I call USCIS? They never seem to be very helpful when I call.
