  1. So, my husband never received a biometrics notice for appointment. But, the status on his case states that "case was updated to show fingerprints were taken and have been applied to your case" as of May 7. No notice was sent. I just happened to look it up on the USCIS website. Anyone else receive the same statement on your case? Could it be that his biometrics from 3 years ago were applied?

SRC (Texas) service center by the way.

It all depends on which center you were assigned to. WAC I've heard takes months to get a bio letter.

Hi @AmGe! Now with everything that's going on, the service centers are closed which means they are postponing the bio appointments. So, our bio letter should be delayed as well. At this point I'm just chilling and trying to forget about it otherwise I'd go nuts. Lol

So still here trying not to think about it but can’t help but think that I had not received anything regarding biometrics within the first 3 weeks when that seemed to be the norm.  😕

    Greetings all!

Well we sent the I-751 package on Tuesday to Texas Service Center and it was delivered this morning. We included tax transcripts from the last 2 years, quarterly joint checking and savings statements for the last few years, insurance info, joint memberships, joint credit card info, joint travel info, like 50 something pictures and affidavits. Hopefully we will receive the NOA within a couple of weeks. Let the countdown begin!

2/3: Text received that I-797 to follow

    2/4: Check deposited

You will have a greater chance of going through a check point the closer you are to to Mexico border.  It is always better to have the proof and not need it than to need the proof and not have it. I like the idea of taking pictures on your smart phone just in case.  We are in Atlanta and going through ROC.  My wife carries her (now expired) two year green card and the one year extension letter.  We are praying her ten year green card gets approved any day but will do an info pass to get the 551 stamp if no word from USCIS when we get close to the expired date of the one year extension.

    God bless

Good luck to you! We are just getting started with AOS so we have a ways to go.

Hola AmGe!  Even though your husband spouse if protected under his K1 visa, and subsequently you legally registered December marriage, I would have him carry a photocopy of his marriage license, and photocopies of any other legal document(s) that substantiate his marriage to you, and a photocopy of your US Passport biometric page (the one that has your photo and detailed information. Likewise, if you have applied and submitted the essential paperwork for his EAD and AOS it wouldn't hurt for him to carry photocopies of those forms also.  It would be advisable for him to avoid public areas where it is known that illegal aliens might normally congregate or socialize. Any and all precautions are prudent until he has his legal documents.  Buen suerte.

Thanks for the response. I've been thinking along the same lines regarding carrying all that paperwork. With all the uncertainties as of late, it really caused me to really think how are spouses protected, if at all, after the 90 days and the visa date expires. Gracias por su respuesta.

  7. Hello all!

My now husband entered with a K1 visa in November. We married in December, and we are about to apply for AOS this week. My question is this... The 90 days will be up in a few days. We got married within that time. What type of protection if any does he have while waiting for EAD and AOS approval? With the latest raids taking place and traffic stops that have transpired in the last few days across the country, I'm left wondering what should he carry on his person indicating his status which is basically married and waiting for the next step?

  8. When I went through immigration, they processed my passport and visa and then, the officer guided me to the immigration room where I had to wait for my k1 package to be checked (I already knew the whole process).

After waiting over an hour they requested my k1 package and opened in front of me. ALL the paperwork we submitted was there, from the initial 129f to the documentation I submitted at the embassy (I saw our family pictures, the drs results etc ect) I was actually very impressed that they kept pretty much everything we sent.

As the envelope states, DO NOT OPEN under ANY circumstance...I've been here in Visajourney for 5 years and I've seen cases of people who accidently opened and they have to go back t the embassy and wait until they give you a new one (weeks).

Your fiance must bring the envelope in his carry on luggage...because it has to be submitted at costumes in his POE.

Thanks for the advice. My fiancé received his visa packet with a large rip in the envelope. He is making a 24 hour trip to get it replaced at the consulate. Crazy that he had to do that but don't want to take any chances!

  9. Hi AmGe,

I'm in a very similar situation as you. Would you mind telling me how long it took for you to receive your "ISSUED" status on the CEAC website after submitting your police certificate? Also, how long was it since you submitted it until you got your passport and visa back?

    Hi there,

It took approximately 4 business days from when received to change to issued. Then it took 5 business days to receive the visa. It was actually mailed yesterday and received today.
