After a stressful interview, I passed and my Oath Ceremony is on April 13th.

My interview scheduled at 9 AM and we were there with my wife at 8:45 AM. The IO came around 9:10 AM to get me. He was very kind and friendly. We chat about the weather until we walk to his office. He asked my GC, Passport and driver's license. After that, he asked me if I'm ready for the test. He gave me a paper and asked me to read it. "How many U.S. Senators are there?" And after he told me to write "There are one hundred Senators." After we completed reading and writing section he started the questions.

1. What's the "rule of law"?

2.How old do citizens have to be to vote for President?

3. What major event happened on September 11, 2001, in the United States?

4. What ocean is on the West Coast of the United States?

5. Why does the flag have 13 stripes?

6. What's the name of the national anthem?

After I gave correct answers for the first 6 questions he stopped asking the rest of them. Then he wanted me to stand up and raise my right hand. After I swore, to tell the truth, he started asking questions from my N-400 form. The stressful part for me was, I applied for a change of status when I was a student in 2006. I didn't receive any letter from USCIS I even called them twice and they said it looks like it's still in process. after 1 and a half year, 3 officers from USCIS came and told me that I lost my status. I showed them all the paperwork that I was printing from USCIS website. They believed me but they told me that I need a lawyer. It took almost 4 years for me to get back my status. So IO told me that everything was OK but he cannot approve me because of what happened before. He told me that wait outside and he will let me know if I can get approval today. At that time stresfull 15mins started for me but at the end, he came out smiling and saying that I'm all set. And I can wait for my Oath Ceremony Notice over there. I thanked him and he left. After 20 mins they called my name and gave me my Oath Ceremony Notice Form. It was a huge relief. Can't wait to get my Naturalization Certificate.

I also have some advice, we were abroad with my wife for her nephew's Bar Mitzvah and we came back 2 days ago. The officer saw my wife when he was calling my name and asked me if she's my wife and also during the interview he asked if we have anything mutual. Our 2016 tax return wasn't ready so I gave him our health insurance and car insurance paperwork. He also asked me that if we have any photos from our last trip. We took only 2 because we were very busy and we are still waiting for my wife's sister to send the photos from the party. I showed him some photos from my phone. I think it was very helpful for my wife to came with me. So I suggest your spouse come with you to the interview.

I was abroad for a week and didn't have time to check here. Congrats everyone who passed their interview and became a citizen. My interview is tomorrow morning. Hopefully, everything will be ok. I'll write about my interview tomorrow.

I don't know that it's accurate to say that you can't travel between interview and Oath Ceremony - I think it's more a matter of what's practical: you will give up your green card at the interview (from what I understand) so you won't have a document that allows you back into the US until you have a US passport. But I could be wrong!

That's right. You are still an LPR right up until you take the oath, so they take it then. If you are in the situation where your field office does same day oaths though, you will need to postpone it. That is allowed. You can do it when you get back. You do need to let them know when you do get to take the oath, how long you were away.

First of all congratulations. I have a question. Can you travel abroad after the interview? Some of my friends told me that I won't be able to travel after the interview until I become a citizen. This didn't sound right to me but I'm confused a little bit. Since you are traveling after the interview I'm assuming they are wrong.

VSC August fillers started to get their approvals so hopefully we will get our approval letters and GC's starting next month.

i just called this morning and was told they are still working on April 2015 cases!! and i asked if the timeline of 6months was accurate and he said its a guideline and not a guarantee which i understand but the fact that they cant give any indication as to when they will review the case is frustrating. Not very helpful at all.

so its more waiting.

I think they check the dates from USCIS' website at the call center. So it's not that accurate. When I search the forums here,I saw that they send the answers for the June filler's also from VCS. I am assuming we will receive answers sometime end of May or in June.
