simple_male -- how did you get such granular detail? Did you hold and speak to an immigration officer or was the operator able to look-up the information?

Well....can you imagine...it turns out that my NOA-2 letter came late and that my I-129F was already at the US embassy in Belize a while ago! Even better, I e-mailed them about packet 3 and instead of mailing it, they told my husband to pick it up DIRECTLY at the embassy tomorrow!!!!...AND....that he can get his interview ANY DAY HE WANTS between 8-10am...meaning, he could be home as early as this or next week!!! holy moly...i can't get over it...i had given up on the K-3 and was expecting a 5 month longer wait....I am thrilled and excited and nervous and and and ...AAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH
My birthday is September 17th!!! He will be home for my 21st B-day--we're going to have one hell of a LOT to celebrate!!! ahahaha

Folks, I asked one of our fellow VJers from India (going through New Delhi) a few question in a PM and this is what I got. He was very helpful – thanks calOC. I have PMed 3 more people – if I get a response, I’ll add to this post.
Question 1: What was there in your wife's packet 3? Did it contain a DS-230 part 1? swhat else did she have to send back?
Packet 3 contained DS-230 Part 1. Packet 3 asks to complete and return DS-230 Part 1 and keep these documents ready but send them - passport, 2 photos, birth certificate, marriage certificate, proof of termination of previous marriage, other evidence (pictures, photo album, letters, cards and telephone bills), police report, I-134, 1040, copies of passport of the petitioner indicating his/her visits to India. You are asked to sign a statement that you have all these in your possession.
Question 2: How long did it take (after you sent in packet 3) to get packet 4?
She received packet 4 before she received packet 3.
Question 3: When did you find out about her interview date? Did that come with packet 4? Did you attempt calling the embassy to get an earlier date?
I had called the embassy a few days after NVC sent the petition and requested an interview date. After about 20 tries over two days (nights for me) someone picked up the phone. God bless him. He asked me if we had all the documents ready. I assured him they were. He gave me an interview date. A week later my wife received packet 4 and a letter with interview date and time. A few days later she received packet 3.
Question 4: How much did they ask your wife about the evidence of on-going relationship? What all did she take?
They asked her for marriage certificate, letter of my employment, I-134, copy of 1040 for 2005, asked her how me met and asked her to flip through the wedding album – didn’t ask for anything else. My wife also had with her cards I had sent her before and after marriage, copies of emails we had exchanged, copies of records of phone calls I made to her before and after marriage, copies of my passport with arrival and departure stamps when I was in India for our engagement and them again for our wedding and she was prepared to answer any questions about me and my family.
Question 5: She submitted all documents with the VHF office and only walked in there with the proof of ongoing relationship, right?
In Apr one was not required to submit paperwork with VFS. That started in Jun, I think. Only her passport was delivered back to her by VFS.

(Note the marriage certificate must indiacate that after the marriage ceremony, it was registerd or recorded by the county, State, Country, or province. Please submit a copy of the original as well as an English Translation if the original is in any language other then english

2. Please submit and English translation to your marriage certificate.
3. Marriage certificate registered or recorded by civil authority.(for immigration porposes a certificate of a religious ceremony is not considerd a marriage certificate.)
4. Marriage certificate Submitted is incomplete. Please submit a copy of you Marriage Certificate in its Entirety.
Im hoping someone can help us to understand this more in why they are requesting the same thing again that I had previously sent wuth the I-129F. Has anyone else recieved this letter Tell us please that there is nothing to worry about

That is in Haryana, right? I believe that is big enough to be considered as district -- he can very simply ask if the local station is the district station. Sorry to hear that you are having problems. Well, spoke to my wife and she said that her certificate said something to the effect that "to whomsoever it may concern, Ms. XY, daughter of Mr. AB is a resident of ___ since ___ and has no record in the ___ police station for any violations of "criminal and civil charges". This part is quotes is uncertain because she could not remember the exact verbiage and she is out of town right now with no access to the certificate.
Hope that helps and not confuse you. Someone else from India -- please step up.... :-)

Oh -- my idiot (now fired) lawyer had "overlooked" to send the copy of my US passport biographics page which proved that I am a US citizen and that I am allowed to file for a I-129F petition. What a putz. Along with that operator at the Delhi consulate, this attorney is on my "whaaap on the head" list <grin>

Please share your experience in Indian consulates here on K3 /K1 visas ......Is there anyone who just recd K3 packet who can share what forms need to be sent to embassy ....
my wife received her packet last week..following r the papers she was asked to bring for her interview
1= ds156
2= ds156k
3= copy of my natrulization certificate.
4= copy of my american passport
5= i134,my bank statements.
6= her medical report.
7= eveidence of relationship.
8= 2005 tax returns.1040,w2
9=her passport
10= her birthcertificate
11= notice of action for i129.
thats all they have asked her to bring.one thing what i did was,the minute i tracked dhl site that the file has reached chennai i emailed them.if she can come an pick her k3 papers,they mailed it to her she recevied it in 4 days,gave her a interview date for sept 11,i emailed them again asking them for an earlier interview,they replied back in few days and gave her earlier date aug/28.

I put my wife's name in there because she is the beneficiary for the K3. It feels good to have "someting to do" while waiting, does it not

Timesnap -- keep in mind that Christina is on K1 and we are on K3. So, her packet 3 contents are going to be different then us (I think).
I just wish someone who has gone through ND on a K3 would just post what their spouse had gotten for their packet 3.
There is information on the ND website, but I wonder how accurate it is (as it does not mention the DS-230). <uff!!!!!>

For the K3 packet it was easy just your passport photo size and then the one form sorry don't remember what it was...But what we are working on now is the checklist. police clearance, passport clearance birth certificate, proof of relationship and etc..... -
Aw man -- that really sucks -- realy sorry to hear that. But don't fret it too much -- it probably added a few days to the process -- don't beat yourself up over it. I had gotten an RFE also (which I calculated added about 2 weeks to the process).

Well guys, our worst fears have came true, just spoke with someone at NVC, there is a RFE on the AOS, i didnt fill out the household size properly, so they send it back to me today, hopefully i should receive it next week. This sucks so badly because I was hoping they would send it to Chennai consulate in time for my wife to get an interview date in October.

Christina -- if these guys are making fun of the name and things of this nature, they want money (yes, a bribe). As Delhiguy suggested, get one of these goons to the side, stroke his ego a little bit (saying that he is the only one who can get it done) and then ask him what is and how much is required to get it done. Jatin will know how to bribe them as he lives in India <grin>.
Delhiguy -- welcome to the forum. We have a thread on the Embassy forum "calling everyone from delhi/mumbai/chennai" where us fellow desis are hanging around :-). I'll post on that thread to bring it up on the radar again.

My hubby is also having difficulty with getting clearance. Can you post the contents of your clearnace certificate please ? they are also giving hm a hard time for clearance certificate .....Did you also get it from passport office ?

We haven’t even yet applied for our petition yet, but I can understand all of your concerns. Will apply from New Delhi - I had to get my passport renewed and I was asked for a bribe by the policeman who came home to check up on me even though this is my own place for the past 12 years and I had all my papers in order.
Thankfully the local Station head is a far-off relative and I just complained to him and he got it done in a jiffy. I just talked to my uncle again regarding Christina's question and he advised it is best to just find someone who knows somebody there in the station and pay the bribe to get it done, or find out who is responsible, take him aside and pay him to get it done. If they agree, it really shouldn’t be more than a half-hour job to get it ready.
This reminds me that I would have to go to Mumbai and get a certificate for the 2 yrs I was there - what a pain!
Would love to stay in touch with all of you going through New Delhi....how about starting a new topic or staying in this one for it?

Bingo -- you hit on the inconsistency of New Delhi. DS-230 should NOT be required for a K3, but New Delhi does require it (and they confirmed it to me via email). Don't ask me why :-). You and I both send in the DS-230 Part 1 from our respective spouses for the CR1 (as it is required), but then these yahoos from Delhi want the DS-230 part 1 for a K3 also. They send that in packet 3, and then when you return it, they send you the interview date. I tapped a similar response in the other thread which you started.
Email the embassy if this still does not make sense (I am still drinking my first cup of coffee and might not be articulating myself clearly)

kPATHAK nOW i AM CONFUSED...iN INSTRUCTIONS ON Delhi embassy website, they mention that Form DS156 (non-immigrant application form should be filled out ) But they told you to fill out DS-230 Part I for K3 visa...Hmmm....I am confused why are they are they asking to fillout DS230 for non-immigrant visa... -
The August file was published in the 3rd week of July. The September interview dates will be pulished next week (boy, I am waiting for that :-). I had emailed the emabassy asking them if they had sent packet 3 to my wife and they actually responded back saying that they had. Then my wife called them (got through after 30 minutes of trying) and actually spoke to a guy in the Immigration visa section who told her that since her packet had been mailed out, she could actually come to the Delhi Consulate, go to counter 17, get a DS-230 part I, fill it out right there and submit it. After that, the interview date will be sent over in packet 4.
So.. if it's possible for your hubby (it was not for my wife), you could potentially speed up this process (like a New Delhi shortcut <grin>)

yeah.. I just found a pdf file for all the interview dates for K3 on DELHi embassy site given by the case number ......for August ....I am unable to understand if they are gonna mail my husband anything or if I just need to send DS-230 straight away to them.... -
Timesnap -- my wife is travellig and unavailable for the next 48 hours -- I know she has gotten it done -- I'll let you know after I speak to her on Tuesday.
But, I think the district police station knew what all to write. Pretty much, it says that you don't (or do :-) have a criminal record on file, and that you have never been arrested etc. etc. Don't just barge in there trying to bribe -- ask the official way and then talk to some "babu" about the "fastest way to get it done". remember, it has to be the district police station, not the local police station (as it says on the ND consulate website). What town is your husband in?

Sorry to put a damper on things but I have had a horrible experience with New Delhi. I have only ever managed to talk to someone via phone once in all the numerous times I have been called (and been hung up on) and I average about one email for every three or four I send.
I am going to India to get married in September and starting all over again with a K-3.

Timesnap, I will be after I get married in September. I went through a thwarted fiance petition with Delhi (same betrothed!). -
Yeah -- we are really close in the timeline :-). I sent the embassy an email and they told me that my wife needs to send in the DS-230 Part I. In the meantime, my wife also called the ND consulate (Immigration Visa section) and after about a hundred tries, someone picked-up, looked-up her case and then told her to send in the DS-230 if she wanted to speed things up.
She sent the courier in yesterday so I will email them Monday to confirm receipt...
You know -- the inconsistent part is the Mumbai and Chennai do NOT require DS-230 Part I on K3, and ND does. uff!!!!!!!!

wow ....Am back from India and guess what in my 25 kg of mail I have got an approval letter dated July 31 and NVC letter dated August 10 !!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe it ! Just talked to NVC and they sent it to embassy on August 11... !

I don't know about Spain, but in India, they ask you at the time of the interview if you need a translator. I am sure it must be the same for Spain also.
You can always email the embassy and find out.
