  1. OK, my wife is having some real problems at the passport office in Chandigarh -- she went there to get a PCC, they took her passport and the form and AFTER that said that it would take 15-20 days to get it back and that it would be mailed to her. Did I not hear someone say that it took them a week and they got the passport in person? This is really frustrating... if it indeed takes 20 days, then she will miss her interview date.

    Experiences, anyone?

    Thanks,

    KP

  2. AWESOME!!!! It's about time.:dance: I am getting really scared about submitting stuff at VFS now.... :(

    KP

Passport was traced... they had no computer records of it (which is strange).. it was at the consulate... seems my visa has been approved ad that I will have my passport back wih the visa duly stamped next week.
  3. What's the saying -- don't get mad, get even? No worries timesnap -- things wil pan out. My wife is going to Chandigarh as I tap this out in an effort to get the passport office clearance -- let's see which a** she encounters out there and how much she has to bribe them to get this done in a few days.

I too wish I was in India :(

    KP

I know ..I am crying my eyes out now for this. I wish I was in india ..they are more lenient with females..... I cant evn be angry at my husband becoz that does not resolve the issue ..... I really hope this thing gets resolved or I will be in really deep trouble....:-(
  4. I spoke to my wife a few hours ago and she said that the guy at the gate was sending people over to whatever window was open :P . So, who knows

    KP

It is the window 17...... thats where my fiance had to turn his filled DS-230 part I and got his interview letter..... and once he turns that in... make sure he asks for packet 4 (if they don't) who knows he gets the interview letter too. best of luck

The embassy got a hold of me 2-3 p.m. window number 17 so tomorrow Jatin is going there fast so we can begin our next process...Well will keep you posted on the newest update...

    sincerly a fiancee in waiting,

    Christina

  5. Thanks for all the suggestions -- I will ask her to out down my name as the "worse-half". :P

    KP

Timesnap -- I have not been through this but may I suggest that your husband go and talk to a passport officer? Ask him to tell the passport officer that "I have a problem and I need to get it resolved -- what do I need to do to get it resolved".

Regarding the police clearance -- I think he will have to offer that bribe again and then ask him "is this not good enough?" I suspect that the money is not enough.

These bast**ds like to see honest people grovel and think that in that moment when the other person is weak, they rule the world. It's sick. I am sorry to hear that you guys are going through it.

    KP

well actually my husbby went to police station and explained eveything. They sent him to another police station in Gurgaon. There they explained that the guy will come to my husband's house to enquire and did not show up :-( Now they are just saying that his file is stuck. My husband has offered them money but they have not taken it yet and they are just making him go around in circles.....M very worried now as not much time is left and I am very very worried.....

About passport, they are saying that they do not issue clearnace for passports issued before 5 years. ...and he will hv to go to Delhi and they will set a new inquiry ..I am confused as to what to do. I know he should have enquired about all these things earlier but i am not sure what to do now....

  6. Hi,

In the form required to be filled out to obtain the PCC from the passport office, my wife has to put in "husband's name and address if married, otherwise father's name". Obviously she should put down my name because we are married (hence the K3 petition). But, in this case, is that the right thing to do (meaning, is the PCC going to MUCH longer because they have a US address for my). Maybe I am just getting paranoid  The PCC from the police station was so much easier.

For the K3 people who's wives got the PCC from the passport office, what did your wives put down? Your name or their dad's name?

    Help!!! :help:

    Thanks,

    KP

  7. Christina, I can relate to you. My wife had to fill out the DS-230 part 1 and courier it to these guys. OK, so tell Jatin that he needs to go to counter number 14, 15, 16 or 17 between 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM. At least, that's what they told my wife to do and that's exactly what she did and got the interview letter in her hand.

    GOOD LUCK.

    KP

Thank you all got a hold of them was not exactly the info we wanted to hear but, was a good thing to know...

    Dear Christina:

We have received this petition and a packet-3 was sent to Jatin Philip NISAR on 3 Aug 2006.

Till date we have not received the DS-230 part-1 from her. We need to update the case after

getting the DS-230 from the beneficiary and schedule her for an interview on nearest available

    date in the forthcoming months.

    Sincerely,

    Consular Section

    American Embassy

    New Delhi, India

so tonight my fiance is headed to NEW Delhi with the copy of DS-230 part 1 and the check list...

He will be handing to embassy because the INDIA MAIL System stinks...we sent ds-230 part 1 back in august on the 10th so grrrrrr. But Praise the LORD we found out in time or else we would be sitting like ducks... Thank you everyone for the help my fiance and I really really thank you all from the bottom of our hearts..Will post tomorrow when our interview date will be...

    sincerly a fiancee in waiting,

    Christina

  8. My wife is also getting the draft for Rs. 4800. However, I am not sure about the K4 (though it sounds like it).

I wish these guys would just start accepting cash in Rupees...

    KP

Timesnap --- the draft would do. my fiance just went to the bank and got a draft for 4800

I am confused about the fees at interview. It looks like only 4800 rupees or $100 in shape of bank draft or USD or traveller's check is required for each applicant. Could anybody please cnfirm. ? I probably need $100 for K3 and $100 fo K4....Right ?

  9. Balle Balle!!!! :dance::dance::dance:

    KP

 visa approved,hi all my vj freinds, just received a call from my wife, she got the visa..she says it was peice of cake, they were impressed with all the paper work she had was in oder.all they asked was how long u both know each other, where is he at this minute, when did u both got married, are u going to work there, when are u planning to leave, thats it, nothing else, and they did say that yr paper work is in great oder.they kept my 2005 tax returns.the interview last for less than a minute.goodluck to all my vj friends,u all have been a great support for me,this journey was indeed a pain in my butt.. but was well worth it.

she will be with me in 8 days, gosh we waited for almost 2 yrs before we can unite  .

  10. New Delhi is different -- if you send them an email with a subject line other than "Request for Specific Information" and you will get a standard "out of office" response stating that all informatin is available on the website and that if you need specific information, then send them an email with the subject line" Rquest for Specific Information".

    KP

I always place the NVC case no. as the subject when writing to the Embassy.
  11. Ya! Ya! Ya! Whatever -- "straight forward gurl" -- mei tho ekdum jalebi ki tarah seedhi hoon :lol:

You better share the "secret" after he is here. Good luck to you both.

Sudhir -- you got butterflies in your stomach? Wifey should be getting to the embassy in 2 hours. Have a drink to calm the nerves :-)

    KP

Ha ! KP, You always after me, aren't ya?? well, let me clarify something here.... He doesn't have a computer at his place... and he hardly goes to any cafe... the only time he visits cafe when I tell him to. and even he does monitor it.... wouldn't hurt me. cuz i am a straight forward gurl... jo hai woh hai.... jo dil mein hai woh mein bas bol deti hoon. then i don't see who i m talking to. :P:P:P Even his dad agrees with me there.
  12. Their email address is IVND@state.gov

IMPORTANT -- make sure that you put "Request for Specific Information" (without the quotes) in the Subject field otherwise they will ignore the email.

    Good luck...

    KP

Hi need help my fiance goof lol.... HE forgot to address the checklist to USA Embassy... he just put embassy... so need to know if someone how USA Embassy received the Checklist even though he forgot to put Usa embassy... so if anyone has an email for the USA Embassy in NEW DELHI INDIA I would most appreciate it...

Need it desperately here... Thanks for helping in advance.... :help::help::help:

sincerly a fiancee in waiting Christina

  13. Delhiguy -- likewise -- I developed a love-handle too and went under some critical scruitiny recently.

Regarding the women attacking -- note that this is a forum, I am just anonymous, I ran run AND hide and can use this as an excuse to go hide my head in the wife's "aanchal" crying and complaining about the agressive cruel USC desi women and "honey, that's why I married you" :D:lol::lol: I'll figure some way to turn that attack to my advantage. :P

Danger? Ha! I laugh in the face of danger (Simba, from Lion King)

This is turning into an off-topic thread. I'll quit :-)

    KP

    KP,

Worth the try :) Now I am waiting for those women to pounce on you, to say that ok - so once the woman is won over no mroe gifts and wooing.....:) Best of luck fighting them off :)

Actually, between the two visits my fiancee had to India, I had gained some pounds, and guess who is on a strict diet plan now :( I love my sweets and this yearning for them is killing me, I ahve had to cut down to just eating a few pounds rather than the many pounds I used to gobble down earlier :)

  14. I wager that Shalz has lost a bunch of weight and is not saying it because the future Mr. Shalz is monitoring VJ :-). She wants an upper hand on him going into the marriage :lol:

    Any takers?

Regarding gift -- jab dil he jeet liya tho gift-shift ka kya karna :D Hey, I had to try it, OK?

    KP

hmm I thought guyz are suppose to gift their wives.. not wives gift their men :P . anyways, i will tell you a secret when he comes home...
  15. Melo -- actually it is "highly recommended" to submit the papers at the VFS office (as per New Delhi website). Check out http://newdelhi.usembassy.gov/packet4k3info.html

I quote "If you wish, you may submit your documents at the Embassy on the day of interview but YOU MUST pay the courier charges at a VFS office before the date of interview. You are strongly urged to submit your documents to a VFS office at the same time you pay the courier fee."

Can't recommend what to do, but here are the facts.

    KP

You are required to submit documents to VFS... they will not accept it at the Embassy.
  16. Melo -- you are indeed a woman of principles and are also connected. I personally visit India for a few days and don't want to take "panga" and ruin my vacation and so I roll over and say &*^%& it. I guess if I lived in India for an extended period of time, I would probably do the same thing as you.

Kudos for kicking that guy in the twins for asking for a bribe :-)

    KP

I was asked for 15 thousand rupees. I did not pay it. I met someone from the home munustry (a deputy secretary) in connection with the Delhi FRRO report and mentioned what the Bombay chap had asked me for... well by the end of the day the Bombay chap was calling to beg me not to proceed further with the complaint as he had been suspended from duty... the chap I had met was in charge of the Foreigner's Division... and we got on famously... I just do not like the idea of paying someone to do their job... I have never paid a bribe till date... and gravely doubt that I ever will.
  17. I can never spell. :hehe:

Gifts? Is equality kay zamaane may double standards kyon bhai? Gists are supposed to flow both ways, right?

What's the secret? You have to share with all of us now B)

    KP

hmm I thought guyz are suppose to gift their wives.. not wives gift their men :P . anyways, i will tell you a secret when he comes home...

Ah, mann I can't spell sometimes. :crying:

  18. Siddhart -- that is awesome -- you don't muck around with the K3 and AOS etc. Congratulations. Like Sudhir, I am also appreciate if you could post the questions which she was asked. Also, how long did it take for her to get the visa (after the interview)? My wife's interview is on 20 Sept and I am trying to arrange for tickets.

I assume that she is going to come on the direct flight -- tell her that she will be asleep most of the way and she should treat it as an adventure. That's what I am telling my wife too -- its her first overseas trip <grin>.

    Thanks in advance,

    KP

    Folks,

My wife received her CR1 VISA from New Delhi Embassy on August 24. Thank God!!. She received the VISA from Courier. Anyone traveling on the same date as her on the Wednesday Aug 30 from Delhi to Newark, NJ? She is a bit anxious about traveling alone for 15 hours. Thank for all your best wishes and help. The journey is far from over but this is a new beginning..

    Thanks

    Siddharth

  19. Larry -- I think you are doing the right thing by being concerned and trying to communicate with her. Learning Russian will certainly help you in the long run -- keep trying to talk to her using whatever medium you have been and things will settle down in a bit. Keep us posted as to what happens after "10 days", OK?

    Cheers,

    KP

  20. GGT -- from what I understand, she needs to be employed (or working in some capacity) in India in order to be eligible to petition for you as her husband (fiance deal will not work). You guys will have to get married. BUT... I don't think she can go to India on a tourist VISA, stay there for 2-4 months, get married to you, apply DCF and bring you back with her. The reason for the DCF is the USC does not have the opportunity to go back to the US and file for the spouse because of employent or other reasons.

Anyone else, please jump in to correct me...

    Cheers,

    KP

she is nt living india right now???

but she is coming to india. nd will there for 2-3-4 months

    so pls advise
