My wife sent in her I751 in July of 2021. We received her I-797 NOA confirming receipt and 24 month extension shortly after. She had her biometric appointment in August 2021. Since then, we have not heard anything. When I check the status online, it says that the case is ready to be scheduled for interview since March 9th, 2022.

We also filed N-400 shortly after and the status of that just shows as in-process and "things are taking longer than expected". I am a little worried because her green card will expire in September 2023 even after the extension. Is this normal?

My wife filed in May of 2019 and still no interview. She already got her extension stamp stamped 3 times in her passport. Still no update.

If your extension is about to expire soon, I would suggest you to call the USCIS and tell them you need to get the green card extended (I-551 stamp in you passport) they will extended for another year and you will still be able to travel.

  2. Hi all,

Anyone's expired green card got taken away from the USCIS office when you go and get the extension stamp on your passport?

I am seeing people here still have their expired green card with them when traveling. When my wife was at the USCIS that was the first thing they took from her (Expired Green Card)

Other question I have is that do you guys get nervous while your traveling and you interview letter shows up and miss the appointment?? We do want to travel but we just had a baby and both of our families are from different countries so we will need to travel for a little longer (need to travel two countries with a baby) so I'm guessing the trip will be more than 4 weeks.

    Any info would be appreciated!

    Thank you all

Like what others are saying, I would file the N-400 if your wife is eligible. I was in the same boat, as you. Filed my I-751 back in June 2019. Heard nothing about an interview and knew my file was collecting dust somewhere. Filed my N-400 on October 2020 and have now been naturalized. I-751s, for the most part, tend to be on the lower end of their priorities. Filing the N-400 can hopefully move along your I-751 finally. Good luck!

My wife isn't planning to naturalize anytime soon. Due to family and other circumstances she is planning to keep her Korean passport and the green card as of now. But eventually she will naturalize at some point but now just not the right time. Not like me, I can have dual citizenships in Taiwan so for her its a little different. She's about to get her I-551 extended again for the third time....

We have called the USCIS multiple times and spoke with multiple agents and they are aware that her case is way outside of processing time but for some reason they can not give us any updates at all.

@Crazy Cat has had a similar timeline, but different field office.   He can fill you in, but it seems filing for N-400 when eligible is the way to finally see movement on the I-751.

Are you a USC?   Is she eligible to naturalize?

  5. Hi all,

My wife filed her case back in May of 2019 (SRC) and her case was transferred to our local USCIS office which is in Charleston, SC. She already had her passport stamp renewed twice and about to renew again in March. They kept telling her she should get interview soon but we are still waiting. At this point we don’t even know what to do. It’s been almost 4 years and it’s pretty stressful. We have contacted our Congresswoman and the office said there’s not much they can do.

Any help or advice will be appreciated!

    thank you all!

  6. So my wife is still waiting for her case since May 2019. I’ve contacted the congresswoman in my state and they helped us located her case. Her case is definitely in our local USCIS office now but still nothing yet. Her permanent residence one year extension stamp is about to expire next week. Should my wife call the USCIS and get another extension stamp? What do everyone do? We won’t be traveling anytime soon but not sure if expired permanent resident stamp will effect anything….

    Any help would be appreciated!!!!!

  7. Hi all!

My wife’s 18 months extension expired and we got an infopass appointment at our local USCIS office. They did give her an one year extension stamp on her passport. We were just thinking earlier….they took away her expired green card. Is that correct? I’ve seen people still has possession of their expired green card.

please let me know and thank you all!

  8. Ok I have a question for people that are still waiting…so my wife’s 18 months extension expired and we got an infopass appointment at our local USCIS office. 9. Hi all,

so my wife has been waiting for her case for over 2 years now(05/24 NOA1)

Every time we call the USCIS the representative says we can ask to speak to a tier 2 officer if you don’t get a response/reply within 30 days…but every time we call them they send a letter couple days later stating “the case is still under view, no other information available”

so the representative  won’t let us speak to a tier 2 because technically the letter is their response within 30 days after we call each time.

We are so frustrated with how long we have been waiting and seeing lots of people already been approved within couple months is making us even more stressful.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thank you all.

We originally filed with SRC Texas, it says 4 to 8.5 months.

We are now at 27 months.  Got letter that was ready for interview Aug. 31, 2020.

So I see so many people who filed after us getting movement.

My wife filed in 05/24/2019 and received her NOA1 on 05/31/2019 SRC Texas Service Center and we are still waiting too! So frustrating because I’ve seen so many people got approved within 4 months. Her 18 month extension expired back in February and we had to schedule an infopass appointment. They gave her another one year extension and took her expired green card away that day......

  11. Hi all,

Anyone still waiting for their case from Texas Service Center (SRC)??? We have been waiting for over 2 years now which is crazy.

My wife’s case was filed in 05/24/2019 and her NOA1 was 05/31/2019.

She did her Biometrics on November of 2019 and no update since. Her 18 months extension expired and we had to call and schedule an infopass. They did give her another year of extension and took her expired green card away.

we have done two case inquiries online and all we are getting from them is they said they are sorry for taking this long and they are trying hard to move things quicker blah blah blah. But I’ve seen people get approved within 4 months at the service center...

Any idea what we should do next?

    Thank you all.

Did you contact your US House representative? It seems like that is the next step, since your case is so far out of normal processing times. And you should note that when reaching out to them.

Thanks for your advice but how do I do that? How do I find info on my US house representative?

I am going to call the USCIS again next week to see what they have to say.

Yeh we are am aware of that....but nothing we can do.

Couple months ago it was showing 16-20 months.

We have called and sent inquiries but still waiting. My wife’s 18 months extension expired and they gave her another 1 year extension stamp on her passport. At this point we really don’t know what we should do.

I think I have accepted that I won’t hear anything until April next year… but comforted I will go ahead and file citizenship in March next year

    Yeh same here.

my wife’s 18 month green card extension expired and they gave her another year extension stamp in her passport. They said all we can do now is wait.

we called and we sent two inquiries through USCIS website and they pretty much said they are still working on the case.

Are you still on Texas service center or have you been transferred? Texas service center is pretty fast, if your case is still pending it could be because of background checks or because it’s been routed to a local office for interview, if that is the case, then it depends on how busy your local office is. Normally they transfer the case to NBC and they send it to a local office.

I believe my wife’s case is still at Texas service Center. Her 18 months extension expired and we had to call USCIS to schedule for an info pass. They ended up giving her another year of extension.

it’s crazy of how long it’s taking. We sent inquiry twice now and both times are saying how busy they are and still working on the case.

I am Texas Service Center. Just 751 interview.

My wife’s I-751 is at Texas service center too...

May I ask what your case number is? Not to share the whole thing but I’m just curios to see where they are at now. You don’t have to if you don’t want to. Thank you in advance.

I have called the USCIS to schedule for info pass and they said they will call us within 7 business days but it’s been over 2 weeks and haven’t heard from them...it’s kinda dumb that they can’t just schedule the infopass and they me the date to be there....very stressful

443 days and still counting for my wife’s case at SRC...

what exactly did you do when your 18 months extension expired? Did you call and speak to someone from the USCIS and they get you schedule for infopass at your local office?

please let me know and thank you!!

Thank you!  I feel a lot of relief that the worst is over.  Its been over 4 years of dealing with USCIS since K1 stages to now....a girl is tired. lol

My ROC application was received on May 20th 2019.  I was assigned to SRC service center.  There were no RFE's and no interview.  We didn't interview at the AOS stage either.

Can you please tell me your first 7 numbers of your case number?

    My wife’s case number SRC1990396XXX

still waiting since biometrics and I think you have a very similar timeline.

    thank you!!!!

@yutekao  hey there! Any update on your case? I saw on May 2019 and July 2019 fillers threads that they are getting approved. But it seemed they were all from Vermont service center

Still no updates after biometrics in November....Most of the cases getting approved during that timeframe are from different locations....

Texas Service Center is moving pretty slow comparing to other centers....
