  1. Hey EmpressBab, I remember you saying you were also being processed at the Seattle office. I had my interview today, it went pretty smoothly - she made me verbal answer all the questions from the i-485 form regarding criminal history, association with terrorists etc. Confirm your name, address, spouse name and dob. Then moved on to asking us how we meet, activities we like to do together. Where we got married and who attended. Asked about how life is now living together and then evidence we want to submit based on relationship - all we had showing joint paperwork was recent tax return and car insurance. we also had photos from the wedding showing us with guests and then a couple of snaps from our honeymoon. They didn't approve our case on the spot due to some internal papers that she didn't have and mentioned if in the missing file they find there is something missing we may get a RFE or worse case another interview. As we have not had any RFE this whole process I'm pretty confident it will all be fine and it is just a matter of waiting for internal processing to get their sh!t together. We had copies and originals of everything they request on the letter but as that is all submitted with the original paperwork the most important things to have are anything showing the joint relationships (she said tax return is very useful for this if you filed together) so now we are back to waiting.. Good luck with your interview

  2. Hi,

I don't know if anyone has any experience in a similar situation...  I am the Alien resident married to a US citizen. I was previously living in Canada but am not a Canadian citizen (I lived in Canada for 2.5 years) I was born and raised in New Zealand.

I arrived in US and married in October 2016, was fortunate to get an expedite on EAD and started working December. We are now trying to figure out how to file taxes. We are looking to file jointly.

My understanding is my foreign income is tax exempt due to the treaty between US and Canada. However when we have been entering the details in TurboTax (entered at the uncommon income section) the amount for refund drops significantly once we enter this information. Has anyone been in this situation and have any advice, or otherwise we might need to find a local tax specialist to help keep our tax refund..

Would it have anything to do with my temporary status in Canada, even though I was deemed a resident for taxes in Canada.

Please I'd appreciate any information anyone might have :)

  3. Hi,

I just wanted to say a huge thanks for this thread.

I followed these steps pretty much to the word, including the letter to congressperson. I requested the expedite on Monday 7th, contact congress woman's office and sent all documents on 8th.

I just checked (today being the 10th) and my case has been updated to card being produced.

So, 3 days for them to sort, wow.

Best of luck to everyone in a similar situation. Do your research, prepare ahead of time and good things will happen!

    Thanks

Hi I was curious to know how long from your online status updating to card in production to receiving the card in the mail?

  4. Hello house, I am also an October filer for AOS marriage based. Please I need your advice.i need help to expediate EAD. I already contacted congressman to help me on nov 15 2016 I have not heard anything back from uscis or congress. Please how soon do I hear a word. I am scheduled to do my bio on nov 24

    Hi Sonny,

I can't see your timeline but when did you file? I believe (could be wrong) that they can't expedite until after bio. I had my bio appointment on nov 10. I then submitted my expedite on nov 15 first to USCIS then contacted local congressman.. they confirmed they submitted my evidence within 24 hrs and now I am waiting for the outcome from USCIS which I believe they say should be within 5 days..

  5. For anyone who doesn't have their records in BC - the MMR immunisation is covered by the BC healthcare (MSP) - you can just go to London Drugs and have it there.

  6. I'd recommend for anyone if you don't have a vaccination record, and you have some time before you're medical then go to your GP and request blood tests to find out so you won't have to have unnecessary shots.

Unfortunately for your wife Sanil1986, it doesn't sound like you have time for this option.

  7. I know Dr Cheema charges $45 CAD for the TDap - which is the only one I think I need but seems BC healthcare will not cover this sooo looks like I'll be paying for it. :ranting:

  8. Can I ask if you sent your packet 3 info immediately after submitting documents to NVC? I was wondering the same thing if I could just send the packet 3 documents as i just submitted the larger package to NVC last night. I appreciate any feedback you might have.

    Thanks

Sure, I'd say after NVC gives you the case number and you track it and it shows 'ready' (approx 1 week) you can start trying to send it, they'll either accept it if they are ready or respond that you have to wait, if like me you get the 'you have to wait response' just forward the email in a few days time and eventually they'll send packet 4

  9. What do you know... 15 minutes after posting I get an email confirming packet 4 and time to book interviews and figure out the logistics of getting there.

The good news is they have interviews as early as 3rd August (for those who will be booking soon :dancing: )

  10. Hi everyone,

I'm wanting to try get a rough estimate for this part of the process - from case being sent from NVC to when the consulate will send you the packet 3 instructions. (I tried to send them my packet 3 documents and got told I had to wait for them to send me the instructions)

Love to hear from anyone who has recently gone through this process

    Thanks
