@SMAlexander what country? Did your husband get a 221g letter blue paper? I’m in the same boat. I had my interview(9/07/17) and was refused also, and was requested to file for the i601 waiver.  My lawyer says if my waiver is approved there’s no way the embassy can refuse me again, because the refusal letter states I need the i601 waive and that all. So good luck and always take  everything you can possibly can. I seen at my interview people get ask for police report, i601A approval, family photos and etc..  but do keep in mind medical exam is only good for 6 months, so that might be one thing we will have to do again and pay? And maybe a 2nd interview.

The country is Trinidad.  Yes we were asked for a police report from the country he was born even though he left Guyana at 5 years old.  The interview went real bad we didn't pass the questions therefore they needed more evidence on the marriage along with the fact that he misrepresented himself so im assuming if we didn't need the 601, we would have failed the interview and still have to had submit more documentation then redo the interview.  but we did turn in everything they asked more evidence and a police record from Guyana and still got a refused.

  2. I have a question and maybe someone could help.  My husband failed his initial interview in July, they said that he misrepresented himself a year or so before we got married and was refused a visa and they also needed further proof of the marriage and other documentation.   I know that we will need to get a Lawyer and do the wavier.  The embassy asked that he turn in all other documentation that was requested.  We turned everything in and his updated status still was refused as of November.  Now my question is, is it refused because the waiver hasn't been completed? or did they not accept the new information that was turned in?  Im afraid that if we get the lawyer go through with the waiver process get approved, there may be a chance that he is still refused at the embassy?  Am I on the right track?

  3. in July we went to our interview, and they requested more evidence of the marriage, and other documents.  This part has been done.  In 2014 he needed to provide a job letter for his visa and the wrong address was provided so they cancelled his visa saying he misrepresented himself and all of this came up during his interview.  I just read over the instructions and called USCIS and im confused.  So im here and he is over there, can I submit these papers like the others, or is it something he would have to do from over there? im really lost...  also I have petitioned for his daughter and was approved now just waiting on interview process again with her.  Will his situation affect her case.  yes I am in a complicated situation and it is draining me and this marriage

  4. Do you guys suggest getting a lawyer or is this waiver something that I can do like everything else?  Please really need advice.  I honestly am at a lost with this process.  This really caught me off guard and we just turned in documents to the embassy that he needed after a failed interview.  He is eligible for a waiver so what now? do I just go ahead and start the 601 process or let a lawyer do it.  Please any kind of guidance is welcomed.

  5. ME an my husband are getting ready to go through this process.  We recently had our interview at the embassy in Trinidad. I only flew down to support him during his interview but got called to the back for questioning.  We were told that the marriage is not valid or not enough proof because we could not answer some questions correctly. Crazy questions smh bc clearly I don't live with my husband I visit as often as I could.  It was just crazy and the lady had a bad attitude.. but as a US Citizen I should not have been treated that way bc my taxes pay her salary... but anyway...so we have to submit some information showing the validity of our marriage and then do the 601 waiver.. one of the things she told my husband was that he wasn't going to get his visa no time soon....and if the processing time is 10-12 months she was right and  I cant stomach to tell him this. truly heart breaking :(

  6. Good Afternoon to all.. Does anyone know if it is possible to reschedule an interview date after it has been scheduled? My marriage could not handle the distance and now some serious concerns have surfaced.  I am very hesitant of going through with this and would like to know how far back can I push this process back just until I get my thoughts together as to what I need to do.  I need to really be careful and not allow myself to be another victim of a possible opportunist.. Thanks in advance...

Did you call today to confirm?  I'd request a supervisor call back (if you can't speak with one) just to be sure.

I called and confirmed that they will need more financial evidence at the interview because we didn't meet the requirement.  I asked them to tell by how much did we miss it that way I can know and the guy was a little rude.  They did tell me that I did not need a sponsor on the 18th and that everything was done!  I think what happened was they looked at my husbands bank statement and must of realized that its a bank in Trinidad and not the US.  That's just a wild guess.  IDK

I thought i would share my journey and what it means to me personally.

I am from the UK, my work took me around the world for long periods of time and at many points i was in the US working on projects. I fell in love with Boston, Chicago and New York but my passionate love is New Orleans. Being from Oxford everything there is old and steeped in history, I am proudly English and always will be but the passion the states has for flag and country is amazing. I met my now wife in Tulsa Oklahoma while i was there on work, it was a Disney movie of love at first sight. We lived together in the UK and then Abu Dhabi UAE before deciding after i got laid off from Oil and gas to move her home. I was going to return to the UK see out my final 4 months in the UK office while doing my CR-1 visa. I came here on a holiday before returning to the UK and my company told me i was not required to return... that was a change in the plan and once we found out about the change of status we started the ball rolling. While the paper work and processing was going on I explored New Orleans.

Now i had never been here before, the first time was to visit my wife's family in 2015 and i fell in love with the city, people, food and culture here. I have spent time walking around the french quarter, the CBD and residential suburbs each step making me smile about my new home.

Sure things are different here, i cant find a egg and bacon bap with a cup of tea. Bacon is different from home, marmite is impossible to find and try explain what blood pudding is to people who have no clue. Although for each one of those things i miss, i find something new to try, expand my tastes and horizons. I never had a shrimp Po Boy, ate craw fish or mud bugs as they are known here but the main thing for me and my own is .... New Orleans feels like home. I sound different than everyone else, sometimes the English language gets strange here and the English sense of humor lost in translation but New Orleans is my Home.

Would i wait as long as i did to get my green card again, you bet i would because at this point looking across at my wife in our home city makes all the stress, money and time spent all worth it....

NO place like New Orleans.. i'm such a Cajun girl...Crawfish and King Cake season is here :)

    Hi Camdon,

Welcome to the VJ family! Take a look at my Timeline in my signature....it should give you a pretty good idea of the length of time stuff takes. The interview itself took roughly 1hr 30mins but the officers there are very nice.

Best of luck to you! :)

I it true that we schedule our own interview date at the Embassy in Trinidad?  Or do I have to still wait on an actual appointment from NVC?

I was told by a NVC rep they were working this past weekend but I have not seen anyone get any cc

I actually called Saturday night at about 10:30pm Central time and the guy was so rude he said nothing has changed and hung up as soon as I said ok, I didn't get a thank you or call back next week nothing.  it didn't bother me though, I'm getting use to these people

On my update call today the lady said that our file has been "sent to the document review department". I tried to ask her if that is something new but she was cagey about it. She is the first person to use that phrase to me. Has anyone heard that? Does it mean anything? (Supervisor review started just 1/10 so I'm not really expecting much). It's so funny how they all use different terminology. Maybe it's just to give us the sense that something is happening.

I was told that on today as well.
