Just called booking.com and they called the hotel who said my wife should pay with cash and they won't charge my card for the room. Also they agreed to give me a 1000php refund because I found the room cheaper on Expedia. So it should be about $110 for 3 nights which isn't too bad. If my wife likes the room maybe it will be a good place for her to stay for the interview in a few weeks.

My wife and step son will be doing their medical about 24 hours from now. What time should they get there? Here are the documents she has. Tell me if I'm missing something.

    Interview letter

    Passport

    4 passport photos

    Medical registration form

    Passport photocopy

You seem to have everything good to go :) Since it is first come, first served at SLEC, the earlier she arrives the better. My husband arrived at 5am and the lines were already very long, but he would be finished by 10; However, I have read about people arriving at 9 or 10 and finishing at around 12, so really it's to your wife's preference. I hope everything goes smoothly for her and your step-son!

First I want to say thanks to brassballs. I checked other websites that you listed for the same room and found the reservation for $20 cheaper. I called booking.com and it sounds like they might honor that price so I might save $20 on my reservation with them. I asked them while they were on the phone how my wife could check in without me being there or having my credit card and they tried calling the hotel to find out but no one answered so they sent an email asking how that would work or if my wife could just pay cash.

My wife will be checking in there Monday evening Philippines time so I need to figure out how this will work soon. From the experience you two had with this hotel what do they require from you to check in? If my wife gives them a printout from booking.com with her name on it and shows ID is that good enough? I will probably give booking.com until tonight to reply to get back to me about this then I will call them agian unless you guys know how they do things at this hotel.

The first time my husband stayed there he didn't have a reservation; he just went there and checked in, then paid with his credit card when he checked-out after 2 nights. The second time he stayed there he actually made a reservation using their website (this is because they offered a discount for booking early, and also no additional fees for early check-in and late check-out). When he arrived at the hotel, he showed them his reservation and also his ID.

It says on their website that the person whose credit card is being used needs to be there in person, but the reservation is in her name so I don't know how that's going to work with your wife. Perhaps you can send a copy of your credit card to her, in addition to a copy of your ID and maybe even a letter stating that she has permission to use your credit card, and that will be enough. If not, I'm sure she can just bring cash to pay for it.

  3. A few questions. For the interview date letter is the first barcoded page all that is needed? Unfortunately you will need to print out all pages of the interview letter (even though all they really need is the barcode and MNL number... waste of paper, I know) <_< My tax transcripts are 17 pages long. Can I print them front and back to save paper (and shipping weight) or should I just print on the front of the page? I think you can print them front and back, as long as it is complete. Do I need a copy for my wife and step son or will one copy for both of them be enough? Since they are interviewing together, one copy should suffice. Can I print the I-864s front and back or is that a bad idea? There's really no rule (at least I don't think so) that says that you can't print on both sides, again, as long as everything is complete. I am trying to put packets together with all the documents I am able to provide my wife with that she will need and she can just add the few documents I can't provide her with. This will make things easier for her as she isn't very computer literate and would have a hard time printing everyhting on her own. At the same time I am trying to reduce the weight of my package to reduce shipping costs.

On another note It will probably be mid to the end of March before I fly them here because I have decided to find a house closer to where I work. I currently drive an hour and a half one way then work 12 hours which I am sure my wife wont like. So I have decided to hold off on flying them here and find a place to move to first. Good luck in finding a house for you and your family! It doesn't matter when they get here, as long as they get here, right? ;) At least once the interview is out of the way and you know they're approved, you can rest easy :)

An update on my husband: he received his greencard in the mail about a week and a half ago, which is a lot faster than I had anticipated :) He had to get bloodwork done at the health center twice because the first one was "indeterminate" for TB. Unfortunately, the 2nd one came up positive, so now we're waiting on what the next step is... but, the doctor won't be in until after the new year, which means we will have to wait at least another week for instructions. Here I thought all this immigration/medical stuff was done with after we received his greencard :( My husband more likely has latent TB; he doesn't have symptoms and he was never diagnosed with it before, but he has taken the precautionary medication already in the past. All of this is giving me anxiety

  4. My wife and step son will be going next week for their medical exam and on the 17th is their interview so I am trying to get documents and other things prepared. Here are the lists I have for what will be needed

    Medical:

    - passports

    - passport photocopies

    - 4 passport photos each

    - NVC interview letters

    - online medical regisration form print out

    - My wife was tested for TB a couple years ago and had a chest x ray. Should she bring it with? Thought it said something on the SLEC website about that. Because the x-ray is already more than a couple of months old, it's not necessary for her to bring it with her. SLEC usually only accepts those that were taken recently.

    -16,042.50 PHP for wife

    - 8,600 PHP for step son

    Interview:

    - DS260 print out

    - Original I-864s - Should I send tax transcripts, check stubs and/or an employer letter? If so should they all be updated with current info? If there have been any changes with your i-864 (e.g. new job, new salary) you should send a new form with the updated information, in addition to sending the necessary financial evidence.

    - NVC interview letters

    - passports

    - 2 passport photos each

    - birth certificates

    - photocopy of my passport

    - Proof of relationship - If i send the same pictures i sent to USCIS will this be adequate? Those should be fine, but if you have any updated chatlogs, you should send those as well.

    - marriage certificate

    - police clearance

    - CENOMAR

Am I missing anything here? Is there anything listed that I don't need? The plan was since I have to Fedex my wife the I-864 anyways I was going to put together a packet for her and one for my step son with all the paperwork I can put together such as print offs from websites or NVC emails then she can add the rest tot he packets when she gets them. It says in the interview letter originals of all photo copied documents provided to the NVC must be broght to the interview. I sent a photocopy of my birth certificate to the NVC (can't remember if I was required to or not). Is this needed for the interview? I don't think it is necessary to send an original copy of your birth certificate, because I doubt they will look at it anyway since they already have a photocopy of your passport as proof of your US citizenship.

  5. Hi xmaris.i just want to wish you HAPPY HOLIDAYS. MY stepdaughter interview was Tuesday and she was approved but I had to resend all of my tax documents back to my stepdaughter again cuz it was raining very bad and some of my documents got wet.but keep in touch

Congratulations on your stepdaughter's approval! Although that 221g is a pain, at least the extra week or 2 for her visa isn't a big deal right? Since she isn't leaving until April? It's almost the end of the journey for you!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU GUYS! :goofy::joy:(L)

  6. Hi xmaris.you have no worries about the medical from health center it has nothing to do with green card process

According to USCIS case tracker, my husband's greencard has been sent and is on its way to us! Estimated date of arrival is this Monday (about 43 days after POE). We followed up on the letter from the Health Department; my husband had to get an xray and some bloodwork done this past Monday. The results of the xray were supposed to come in Wednesday, and since we didn't get a call from the Health Department I'm assuming things are ok. The results of the bloodwork won't come in until next week, so hopefully we'll be all in the clear.

  7. Hello everyone, I am under IR-1 category from Philippines. I arrived here in New Jersey on November 9, 2016. My husband paid my greencard online on November 18th. Ive been tracking my greencard but it always says validation error (like the picture attached). I wonder if this is normal? And when can it possible change and have an update? I already received my SSN card on Nov. 15th. I hope anyone can answer my questions and enlighten me regarding the matter. Thank you!

I paid for my husband's greencard on Oct.27th, and his POE was Nov.6, but up to now I don't have any updates on its status. I received the same validation error until about a week ago... it recognizes the IOE number now, but what I see is the following:

    post-229688-0-36870900-1481403468_thumb.png

I don't know what's worse; getting the validation error or that :ranting: The USCIS case tracker obviously has a lot of bugs so from what I have read you can either call USCIS when it has been at least 60 days since POE/greencard payment, or just wait for it to arrive. Getting the actual greencard within 2-3wks is considered really lucky. Besides, as EM_Vandaveer has already stated, your endorsed visa serves as your temporary greencard for 1yr.

  8. Got a few questions regarding the medical exam. It is first come first served and you can't make an appointment correct? We are looking at the first week of January ( I will have the money for the fees by then). This should allow enough time before the interview correct?

If everything goes smoothly and my wife has the visas in hand my goal is to fly my wife and step son here on February 4th (a few days before our wedding anniversary). Of course I will wait to buy plane tickets until they have their visas to make sure no issues come up. Does this sound optimistic or is this doable if everything goes as it should?

The medical exam at SLEC is first come, first served; make sure your fill out and print the registration form for both your wife and step-son before they go there. As Teddy stated, the fee for your wife is P16,042.50 and P8,600 for your step-son. Also keep in mind that your step-son will be given the PPD shot, which needs to be checked 2 days after it is given, so expect them to stay in Manila for at least 3 days (possibly 4 days if the PPD turns out to be positive so your step-son will have to get an x-ray). My husband stayed at Casa Bocobo, which is just a 5-min walk from SLEC; it cost about $30 a night, and breakfast is included. Assuming everything goes smoothly with the medical and interview, your plan seems to be ok :)

I'm so glad to hear that everything is going well (finally) for you, JG and Teddy. No greencard for my husband yet, but he did get a letter from the health department... he hasn't called them yet but I'm expecting them to ask him to come in for a checkup since he had to undergo the sputum exam at SLEC. I hope this doesn't delay his greencard delivery

  9. Got a question. The email I got says my wife needs an original signed copy of the affidavit of support. I submitted an original copy to NVC. Do I really need to pay $60 to FedEx my wife another one?

Well, this is where it gets tricky. Many people say you should send an original copy of the i-864 just to be sure, even though you sent it already to NVC. But, the embassy at Manila will send you & your wife an email when they receive the cases and let you know what other documents your wife will need to bring. In the email my husband got, he was not told to bring a copy of the i-864, just the original copies of his civil documents. For a while I got anxious about whether or not to send another i-864, and in the end, I decided to just send a copy of all the financial documents, including the i-864. On the day of his interview, he wasn't even asked for anything, except for pictures of us and our individual CEMARs. I understand that each case is different; so it's really up to you. But my advice is it's better to be over-prepared than under.

  10. Is it possible that we don't get a confirmation letter from NVC saying that they received our AOS and IV documents? We mailed our documents last November 9, 2016. My husband called NVC and said they received it last November 14. I heard that they send out an email saying that they received our documents. It been almost 3 weeks. Just wondering if anyone is on the same boat. :)

I never received an email when they received my documents. It's a hit or miss with those; but since they told your husband that they received them November 14, that's all you need to know ;)

  11. Well guys I just got home from work and checked my email and found a little surprise from the NVC. Here I am waiting for a case complete email and it looks like they skipped past that and just gave me an interview date right away. It is January 17th. First thing next week I need to look into scheduling the medical exams and get my wife moving on getting all the needed documents. I am sure I will have some questions in the near future but right now I'm gonna call my wife and give her the good news then pass out for a few hours before I go back to work. Something I will be doing a lot of in the next couple months.

Congratulations! It's not unusual for NVC to skip the CC email when you get your CC at the end of the month. Definitely very exciting news, especially after all the bumps in the road you had to endure. So you will be with your wife for your anniversary after all :)

I'm still waiting for my husband's greencard; no status on the USCIS website until now, but I hear that's usually how it is until they actually produce the card. Maybe we'll get it as a Christmas gift ?

  12. So five days until interview and I'm feeling physically sick with worry. I have even started to think I can't make it to the embassy because I feel so sick all the time when I even think about it. Is this normal? We have already had one denial for a U.K. visa fir my husband so this our only hope. I tried to look st the rmbassy webpage today to get information about luggage storage nearby and as soon as I saw the words "embassy" and "visa" I felt sick again. Is it normal to be this nervous and worried?

In the days approaching my husband's interview, I was a nervous wreck. I couldn't sleep because I was so anxious about how it would go. The day of the interview came and I apparently had no reason to worry at all because it was a breeze, according to my husband. Be confident; you've made it this far and you know your documents and evidence are complete so just go to your interview like you have already been accepted ;)

Our case was just completed yesterday. Can they schedule our interview that soon?

It's a possibility, as long as all the slots haven't been taken yet :) You can keep calling NVC for any updates! Congrats on your CC by the way

  13. Thank you very much for your guidance. I really appreciate it.

So, the joint sponsor would only have to fill I-864A correct?

Then, I will have the following affidavit of supports all together:

    1) I-864 from the petitioner/sponsor (my wife)

    2) I-864 A (myself)

    3) I-864 A (another joint sponsor)

    Is this correct?

Unless the other joint sponsor resides with you, he/she would fill out the i-864 form, in addition to providing his/her financial documents.
  14. The CO finds that you and your wife do not make enough to support your in-laws, so they are asking you to find another joint sponsor who does make more than the poverty guideline. The new joint sponsor will have to have his/her own i-864 form, in addition to providing all required financial documents.

How much do you and your wife make, if you don't mind me asking? And do you have any children?

  15. I was reading a review on the embassy in the Philippines and I noticed that they bring they cenomar along with all the documents to be checked initially. Do you need a cenomar when you go to the interview? I did not see it on the checklist for civil documents unless I missed it? Thank you in advance for your help... good luck on all of our journey...

Well, if you are already married you don't need it. You need the marriage certificate, I just saw that you're going through CR1. My bad. CENOMAR is just for Fiancee Visas.

Again, good luck and just be calm :)

When my husband had his interview, the Filipino consul asked for his CENOMAR (or in his case, Advisory on Marriage) and also mine. It is on the US Embassy website that those interviewing need to bring their CENOMAR to the interview; when you are already married, NSO will give you an Advisory on Marriage, which is basically an equivalent to CENOMAR. Many people have been given 221g slips and placed on AP because they did not provide the Advisory on Marriage/CENOMAR so I suggest having it to avoid delays.

  16. Just called nvc. They confirmed case complete! They said I will have a confirmation email in a week. Then a week after that an interview will be scheduled. It feels like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders finally. Just a couple more hurdles to get through.

Such amazing news for you! It's definitely a long time coming.

  17. Checked CEAC website for my step son and there are now 3 n/as. Will call NVC to confirm case complete. What is the next step? Do they schedule the interview or do I have to do it?

Congratulations on finally getting your CCs JG! It's about time ;) NVC will schedule their interview for you so all you have to do is wait for the end of the month, and then you can call them to ask about the interview date.

  18. Hello! I had my chest xray done last 2011, found out I had TB, took medications for 6months. After that, my lungs are clear and normal. I know i should inform SLEC about my history once i have my medical exam. Is it true that even if your lungs are clear (with history of TB) they automatically ask you to do culture and would be delayed for 6weeks? Just want to know if someone has the same experience. Thanks

It's always best to tell your medical history when they ask for it. There is a high probability that they will ask you to have the sputum examination done once they find out that you have a history of TB. If you don't tell them and they find something in your xray, you will still have to undergo the examination anyway. I suggest you get your medical done early.

  19. Hi xmaricrix don't wait for ss to send you a number go directly to their office in center city get it done in one day you just need his i-94 that your husband arrived with cuz Homeland security is slow sending the paperwork out

My husband received his SSN in the mail yesterday. We got it in 1 week without even having to go to the office hehe. Still no update on the greencard though... it still comes up as error on the USCIS website. How are things progressing with you, teddy and JG??

  20. Hi xmaricrix I'm glad you're enjoying your time with your husband. Give it a few more days you know how lazy they're updating anything. I'm mad as hell how do they lose part of your file I called nvc right away and spoke with a supervisor who says sorry can't help you we send your entire file or else you wouldn't have your case complete

Ugh how frustrating. It just sucks because we're basically at their mercy... we have to do whatever they ask in order to get what we want, even if it means sending out the same documents over and over again due to their inability to keep files in order :bonk:

Hopefully my husband's SSN arrives soon... otherwise that's another hassle for us to deal with.

  21. Hi guys, just checking in. I see NVC is still pissing you all off... I can't believe they lost your documents Teddy! I would be so annoyed! Speaking of being annoyed, I don't know if I did anything wrong, but when I went to try to check the status of my husband's green card (he arrived this past Sunday) on the USCIS website, I received an error message. Is that normal? I thought that I would have at least gotten a "It will take up to 6 months to process" message since I read on another thread that that's what they were getting. I'm kind of nervous now that perhaps I did something wrong. I have an IOE number and payment confirmation, but I still keep getting the error :(
