  1. Since your marriage occurred before the child's 18th birthday then she is considered your (step)daughter. You can, as the USC, submit an I-130 petition for her (you are the petitioner, she is the beneficiary). There is still probably a 6-10 month wait, from what I gather, for the I-130 to be processed. When this is completed then the visa would be granted (a medical, etc would need to be completed beforehand as well).

If his daughter is already in the US then the I-130 would be submitted concurrently with the I-485 and the adjudication of the I-130 would occur simultaneously with the I-485. You would just submit all the supporting documents, as well as a medical/vaccinations from a Civil Surgeon, along with the I-130/I-485.

    Hope that helps,

  2. (sung to the tune of beverly hillbilllies)

so she packed up her stuff and she moved to illinois... the hills that is..........:P

Hills? In Illinois? David couldn't believe how flat it is here and made fun of me when I pointed out Elkhart Hill when we drove by going to Springfield and heck that was about an hour away to drive just to see a slight elevation in land. It's a bump in the ground but hey it's all we got. :P

  3. Yes, I know, I'm reviving an old thread. :P It's been over a year since I posted this and I wanted to mention it again in case someone living/moving to Illinois isn't aware of the program in case it is beneficial.

  4. I was sure that Tre was going to win it all...it was shocking when he left.

Me too...he was the best and I was rooting for him. He reminded me of the chef that won Hell's Kitchen (Rock?). I was so glad he won. If that "nanny/personal cook" had won my TV would still have a big hole in it.

I guess they felt since Tre was the "head chef" that episode that the blame fell on him. I personally thought they should have sent the giraffe CJ home that dumped the job on Tre in the first place. He was worthless and did nothing that night, and the judges even mentioned it. I cheered when he finally left.

I was okay with Hung winning (like that matters :P ). I really didn't want Casey to win, but Dale would have been alright too. I can't believe as many times as he messed up he didn't get booted out!

I'm going to be going through withdrawals not having my cooking shows on. :crying:

  5. Our I-751s were sent to the NSC and we received a rejection notice (by itself, even though it said our originals were attached). A few days later we received our entire packet back, with the check and the actual rejection letter, but it was sent from the CSC several days later (I think the info is in my signature timeline) so the two documents were sent from two different offices and explains why they arrived several days apart.

When one is divorced they don't have to wait until the 90-day window; they are supposed to file the I-751 upon the finalization of the divorce.

  6. No, that isn't true. It's not even logical since a child has up to a year to obtain the K-2 after the K-1 is issued yet the K-1 must marry within 90 days of entry to the US. It would hardly be practical for the K-1 to hang in limbo during that time to await the arrival of a K-2.

Go ahead and begin the AOS process for your wife. At this point for the K-2 I believe you just need to contact the Embassy to notify them the K-2 interview needs to be scheduled and begin the process but hopefully those that actually went through the follow-to-join process will chime in to confirm.

  7. We live in Bloomington IL (in 2006 ranked 80 out of 100 top cities to live in USA by Money Magazine) located in central Illinois. While the summers are hot/humid and the winters a winter wonderland it is a great place to live, especially if you're Republican :P With the twin city Normal, I think the population is around 100,000 (Bloomington around 70,000). You wouldn't be far from Arkansas if you wanted to pay a visit.

Unemployment is low and economy is very good. While it's a major agricultural area we have several colleges (ISU, IWU and others), hospitals, national HQ for State Farm (major employer), and LOTS of restaurants so you'll never have to cook. :D

Congrats on the twins and good luck finding the perfect place to live!

  8. Thanks, all, I appreciate the good wishes. :) The last thing I wanted was to begin more immigration processes at the time but thankfully for her part it's over for awhile!

They even included a nifty little green card envelope to protect it  I'd rather they skip that and just save the $

  9. Sorry but your last response confused me, are you saying you should send in seperate photos and copies of your I-94 with each of the 1-485, I-131 and I-765 forms even if they do not request them? I was just going to attch these with the 1-484 form when I send it all in together to Chicago.

    Thanks!

Even though you may be sending them together, each need the evidence/documents required with each. If each calls for a copy of the I-94, you need to make a copy to go with each one. Photos, same. They are separated when received and not processed together. You may be making more than one copy of the same document.

Just read through each (I-485, I-131, and I-765) and ensure that each has the necessary evidence/documents/photos as requested.

  11. A new tree, especially lemon, may not survive the winter depending on your climate. You can always keep it indoors in a large pot over the winter and care for it until you can take it out in Spring, and plant it.

I am in Illinois, Zone 5, and mine have done fine. I just bought a lemon, dried out the seeds and started them indoors in a large pot! LOL
