  1. Hi y'all

Just received an email from my fiancee (USC) informing me that he got his list of choices for his next duty assignment. Seems like there is going to be a chance that he will have orders to Devon, UK!!! How does this work if I enter the U.S. on a K-1 and after we get married we get posted overseas? Will I have to go through the entire process from England with the K-3 since we'll be married before he leaves?. It is my understanding that I won't be able to go through AOS if I am leaving the country.

Any insight on this? I was planning on phoning the Consulate to see what they say but thought i would run it by my VJ friends first :)

We should find out in the next month or so what he gets, I just want to be prepared.

    Cheers, from snow stormed Ottawa

    Tanya

  2. Amanda-Lise: Oops, I wanted to ask you.... are you planning on going first thing in the morning even though your apt is at 2:30??? i would love an afternoon apt, that way I could drive up from Ottawa in morning and drive back home afterwards and save on hotel cost!

  3. I have no idea if I have "supplemental" insurance... but I have great insurance with work so I guess I have nothing to lose than sending in the receipt and keeping my fingers crossed!!! Thanks for the info.

  4. I hear you on this one Mephys!!! I've been waiting for a while now, according to amarceau's list, I think I was up next if it's going in order of time. Seems to be a big gap between mozplay and I and we sent our papers about a week apart. Any day now!!!!! SIGH

Last time I phoned MTL, they told me Feb interview. The minute i receive packet 4, I'll add a post!!

  5. I bought a ticket for Dec 27-Jan 1 for the upcoming holidays...even though he is coming to Ottawa from Dec 17-27, I just didn't want to say goodbye yet cause he'll be deployed for 6 months....so Merry xmas to him, I haven't told him yet!!! Hopefully he'll like the surprise and hopefully the POE wont give me a hard time. So far so good... I've travelled to the USA 6 times in the last 6 months, never had a problem. Always, always, carry proof of ties to Canada and answer truthfully to their questions and you should be good to go! Oh yes, and I always have my K1 paperwork with me as well.

  6. Very well summarized... I think the only other thing I can think of doing while "waiting" is trying to work as much as I can to not think so much of the wait, and make as much money as possible cause I'll be unemployed until I get my EAD!!! God knows I feel bad my hunny has to support me for everything monetary the first while.... but he gets me in return

  7. At least you are going to be together that's great! I can only speak from my own experience. But since we filed for our I129 in August, I have flown down to visit my fiance once a month and never had any problems with the POE. Mind you, I always find the Oficers at the Ottawa airport super nice. Of course, I have to go through some questions, and I have a ton of paperwork showing ties to Canada (mortgage, full time job...) and I always keep with me my visa paperwork just in case. But have never had to show anything.

Good luck with your reunion and may you have a safe border crossing into Canada!

  8. Back to the waiting room I go.... I had to scroll a few pages to find the link :D

I was really hoping for some good news!!!! :o

I just phoned MTL cause I wanted to know if Packet 4 w/interview date was sent out yet (I had a feeling it was coming any day now) and she said I probably wont get Packet 4 until JANUARY and probaby won't get an interview until FEBRUARY.

Good thing I called to give them my new address (at my parents) cause I sold my house and moving Jan 31!!! So I can stop frantically checking my mailbox every night when I get home.

Hmmmmm, Feb is no better than Jan with Montreal weather, I think I'll take the train and not risk the dangerous hwy drive.....

    Later,

    tanya

Add me to the waiting line......

Im sending back my packet 3 tomorrow!!!!

    Yipee

Mephys <-------been dying to join this list for the last 4 weeks

  9. Thanks so much for the post!!! NO wonder I was getting the run around on the phone when I was calling. arrgh. I will try right away and see what they say about my interview date. I also just sold my house and will be homeless as of end of Jan...lol... just living out of my truck until I move in July!!! Oh, can't wait for those cold winter nights. :(

    Hi All,

Just wanted to let everyone know that the IVR changed at the Montreal Consulate. You no longer enter in extension 3833 (which will just loop you around and around)

    Dial (514) 398-9695 then press Press 4

BTW - My K3 is with the Consulate right now. I called about 3 weeks ago and they told me I should get an interview sometime in January. I just called again since as of January 19th I'm homeless in Canada (sold my house) - and they are now telling me February or March for interview !!! ARRRGGGGG

    :huh::angry:

  10. I've been trying to phone MTL consulate for the last 3 days... I dial ext 3833, but keep getting the stupid voice recording that says enter the extension I wish to call...but nobody ever answers. I've been calling betweeen 14h00-16h30.

Anybody else have any luck getting through???

  11. Awesome, thanks guys. My fiance just sent me an email copy of what the statement of service looks like, and he's going to get it signed by the CO. That with his latest LES, we should be good to go? I told him to get it on USN letterhead :P

A letter from my fiance's Commander was also provided and very nessesary

Yes you have to have the employment letter. Have his commander put it on offical letter head and provide contact information at the end of it. If you need a go by send me a PM.

    Rob

I have both but I was told the Proof of Service letter on the USAF letter head signed by my CC was enough. I will update the letter when we get an interview date. I assume everyone stating a letter is needed by the Commander has been to through the interview process already. Ken & Maria

  12. I'm wondering what kind of info other military sponsors have supplied for the affidavit and financial proof for the K-1. Is the LES (Leave and earnings statement) sufficient? My fiance seems to think that it would be silly to ask his Commanding Officer for a letter of employement because the LES clearly indicates his rank (O3E) which means that he is full time military. Anybody have any thoughts on this?

    Thanks for your help!

  13. He's not back from deployment until next July. For some reason I thought I needed it at the interview cause it expires on Jan 7/01 and the would extend it for me there. I'm guessing my interview will be late Jan or early Feb at this point. Hopefully I don't need the original and a copy will be sufficient, cause honestly if my fiance has the original, it's probably lost by now!!!

Well you dont have your interview yet right ? When will he return from deployment? Theres nothing that says it's required to have the NOA2 for the interview....so try and breathe easy. It'll all work out fine Im sure.
  14. Ok, I just found a scanned copy he sent me via email.... definitely don't have the original though and the scanned copy is a bit blurry and not that great. Do you think this will be ok? I hate sweating like this!!!! Worst case, I'll have to order another one.... argh.

  15. Anybody else out there a petitioner in the military? I'm just wondering if supplying a LES doc is sufficient for the affidavit of support (proof of income). Or does he still have to get an employer letter and/or letter from the bank? We had the Affidavit notarized on the weekend no problemo, free of charge by the legal admin officer on the ship

    Thank you!

  16. :help: oK, little freak out going on right now... going through all my docs in preparation for my MTL interview and noticed that I can't find my N02 letter.... :crying: I must have forgot it in Virginia when I was down there last time. I am assuming that USCIS forwards a copy of this to the MTL Consulat . Can someone tell me if they needed it for the interview???? Do I need to contact USCIS for another copy just in case?

Arrrgh, just what I need, usually I am so organized I cant believe this, and asking my fiance to look for it at home is pretty much hopeless cause he is on deployment right now!!!Also, I remember that it expires in Jan or Feb so the Consulat will need to extend it. Help anyone???

  17. I had my medical without packet 4. However, I did need packet 3 and the case #. They wouldn't release the results until the official packet 4 arrives, i just have to fax it over and can go pick up the "envelop". I think every physician works differently.

  18. AH, Jersey, this is wonderful news!!!!! I'm so happy for you, it's been a long wait for you. Good luck, and you never know, I should be getting my packet 4 any day now so maybe we'll be on the same day!

    Tanya

  19. For I129f application, definitely must be within 30 days. However, when you get closer to interview date and you need like 4 or 5 identical pics for medical, interview etc.... then it doesn't have to be within 30 days, as long as they are all identical.
