  1. Good evening, what is the purpose of calling visa center to obtain your number? To save time and be able to give it to your embassy before they receive it?

    Thanks,

Like posted by others, some posts let you schedule the medical with just the case number, and in many instances before they actually receive the case from NVC. We are going through Guayaquil, and they also allow to schedule the medical once you obtain the case number. In our case in particular since we are also doing K2, it helps to gain some time because we must wait a minimum of 10 days from medical to be able to schedule the interview since one must wait for the K2's medical results. So that's a good reason to get the case # from NVC before getting contacted by the post.
  2. Hi Folks - Require your URGENT support !!!

USCIS have sent us the RFE letter on June 8th but my fiance living in NY hasn't received anything yet, it's been 19 days and we are getting worried - It should generally take 5- 7 business days.

Is there anything we can check ? USCIS has mentioned we can ask them for an email copy after 9th July before that they can't do any help.

Has someone gone through from such scenario before?

    Thanks in advance!!

Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do until you get the RFE in the mail or its duplicate after July 9. Sounds like USPS lost your mail, it has happened before. If you have and idea of what the RFE could be about, you can gather the missing or wrong information now and have it ready for a quick reply after you get the RFE notification letter or email. Usually, an approval comes quick after USCIS receives your response. Hang in there.
  3. Hello! Hoping someone can help me... I am the petitioner, and my fiance (beneficiary) has told me that i need to fill out an i-864 (affidavit of support) and submit it to the uscis? Is this something I should do now/already have done?? Our case is in transit to the consulate in South Africa.. I thought that in the packet 3 they'll be sending us is where I give all my financial information and such to prove I can support him? Just really confused on what to do...

Typically, for the K1 visa, the Affidavit of Support needed is form I-134, (see link below). You don't mail this form to USCIS. Instead, upon completion, you send it to your beneficiary to be presented to the consular officer during the interview. If, instead, your consulate in South Africa requested form I-864 on Packet 3, then this is a consulate-specific requirement and you must comply accordingly.

  4. Santy says he's pretty sure you DO need the flight info on the form, and the permission papers do need to be done before she leaves. So mom will have to wait until paperwork is done, because if it's not, her daughter can't leave. Also, it's pretty expensive to not have the mom go with her because she'll need to pay a flight attendant to be in charge of the daughter.

Honestly - If it's possible, they should travel together.

Santy is like 99% sure this is correct info because his brother had to do it to attend our wedding. However, he ended up traveling with his older brother, which counted as an adult who could be in charge of him.

Thanks so much for the reply. You're correct when saying that is more expensive if the daughter travels alone, but I forgot to mention that the aunt will be traveling with her, so that's a big, big plus for us. They both be traveling like a week or 2 before the 90 days are up to get married so they can present at the ceremony.

Thanks so much for sharing the info about the Permiso de Salida and what should be included. We have tried to contact the Ministero del Interior for information and guidance but our calls and emails have been unsuccessful. We'll make sure to include the fight's details and get it notarized, legalized and whatnot before the mom leaves.

Thanks so much for sharing the info ?, regards.

  5. INTERVIEW SCHEDULED FOR A COUPLE WEEKS FROM NOW!

Out of curiosity, did you schedule the interview for 2 weeks b/c they didn't have earlier slots available or b/c that's what best work for you, all things considered? Although 2 weeks don't seem like a long wait, I guess what I'm trying to gather is if the consulate is pretty much backed up or there are plenty of open slots for when one is ready. I'm just trying of get a head start in my planning and come up with an "unofficial" time frame for my case. I have not receive the case number from NVC yet, but it should be anytime now, I'm hoping by next week's end. I'm also considering that buying the plane tickets a few weeks ahead of time (vs last minute), should save me a little money. I'm doing K2 also and things could add fairly quick, if you know what I mean... ? lol. Thanks in advance for your reply, have a great weekend!
  6. Wondering if someone can give me information about the Permiso de Salida from Ecuador for the K-2 beneficiary. My fiancee's daughter will not be traveling with her but do a follow to join 3 months later. My fiancee has sole custody of her daughter, Patria Potestad in hand, but since the child won't travel with the mom, a Permiso de Salida is needed from her mother. Does the Permiso de Salida needs to have listed the flight information, (ie flight number, date, airline, etc), in order to be valid? What does the Permiso needs to say? The problem is that we don't have any travel information for the daughter yet and will like to have the Permiso legalized and ready before the mom leaves for the US. Thanks.

  7. Hello SantyAndAllie, so glad you posted this information, is always good to get the juicy details lol from someone that has been through the process, and not from stuff you read here and there. Personally, I haven't dealt with the consulate over the phone yet, but my emails with general inquiries has always been responded prontly. I was surprised of this since I don't have my case number yet but they had always responded and clarified all my concerns. Once again, thanks for your time and willingness to help us following behind.

  8. US CEAC website says our visa status is "READY" and says we can interview. I didn't receive an email though that our package arrived at GYQ but apparently it did.

We can schedule our interview at usvisa-info.com site now right?

Also anyone know if it's ok if I as the US petitioner make the account for my Ecuadorian fiancé and pay the fee for the interview, or will she have to do it? just wondered if them seeing a U.S. IP address on it would be bad? I just want to pay the interview fee and get it going.

I'm not 100% sure on the first question you ask, but I believe you can schedule the medical with your NVC number, but have to wait to schedule the interview until they send your beneficiary's Packet 3. You can email the consulate and confirm this, they are pretty good at responding their emails usually in 2-3 business days, that's my experience. As far as you creating the account from the US and paying for the DS-160 that's perfectly fine. I would image must people do it this way being we are the petitioners.
  9. Hi everyone,

Need some help here we are currently awaiting on NVC# and have called with no luck yet. Question is both of us USC and beneficiary live in Australia but are moving this Tuesday, USC returning home and beneficiary moving back to home country (Malaysia) how do we go about changing our address as we've been living together over here and all correspondences for K1 related has been the Australian address.

I'm also waiting on getting the NVC case number, our NOA2 date is a day before yours. I've been calling almost daily and getting the usual "you must wait 4-6 weeks, blah, blah, blah". Regarding your move, you need to update your address with USCIS and NVC, you can do this over the phone. If you listed on the I-129F petition the beneficiary's country as Malaysia, the case will be transferred to the Embassy/Consulate there after NVC does their part and you should be set. If you listed Australia, then you must get on the phone ASAP and update your addresses so the case goes to the right place and there is no further delay.
  10. When both arriving together, can the US petitioner remain with his/her foreign beneficiary when going through POE on a K1 visa? Can the petitioner be processed through the non-US citizen customs' lines? Do immigration officers usually take the beneficiary to a separate room for questioning and/or paperwork processing? Thanks for sharing your individual experiences.

  11. Hi Folks, Just a quick question - after a long wait of 107 days on June 8th we received a text for RFE but till date we have not received any letter etc.

Any idea, generally how long does this take?

Can I ask for an email, calling USCIS?

    Please advice...

    Thanks

It usually takes about 7-10 days to receive the RFE letter in the mail. You need to wait for the letter to find out exactly what the RFE is about, calling or texting won't do any good. If you have an idea what the RFE could be about, you could start gathering the information or documents and have them ready for a quicker reply once the letter arrives. After USCIS receives your response to the RFE, it might take another week or so to get your NOA2.

  12. Question on responding to RFE, delivery options. When we did our original I-129F we went with pretty deluxe delivery, registered mail return receipt requested. Is that indicated for an RFE response? or is regular priority mail sufficient? What do other folk do?

I would not trust USPS by just sending it regular mail. You want to make sure your mail is delivered and you are notified. If you are going to use USPS, I recommend you send it first class, registered and return receipt. It normally takes 1-3 business days for delivery, but if you prefer something quicker, you can use their Express Mail service or one of the overnight courier services, (FedEx, UPS or DHL). Remember those are premium services and come at a price. You might be saving a day or 2 by using them and their reliability is much better than USPS. I use FedEx Standard Overnight service and never had an issue.
  13. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe a K-2 interview is required for a 9 year old child. Or is this a embassy specific procedure? I like to know since I'll be doing a follow to join on my 12 y/o stepdaughter and was told she didn't required a interview.

As far as the OP concern, I also agree is better to list the kid on the petition and decide later if circumstances require for him to stay with family back home or come to the U.S. with mom. Remember the 1 year period to receive a K-2 follow to join visa begins when the beneficiary's K-1 visa is issued, not when the petition's filed. So basically, you're looking at as long as year and a half from today, give or take a couple of months, to get the K-2 for your child.
