Omg Congratulations!! We applied for citizenship last month and wish we had done it last year when we did his ROC....regretting waiting because now they are going to furlough like 70% of USCIS...so the backlog will be legendary

Thank you! Good luck to you. I hadn’t heard they were going to furlough them...ugh. I hope it doesn’t impact your case and you hear back soon.

So we had our N400 Interview today, and it seemed they were happy to take care of the I-751, but not without our 2019 W2's.  Its been in process since July 2018 and now they tell us they want our latests W2's.  Well of course I did not have them in my pocket.

As for the N-400, she passed the reading, the writing, the speaking, and the civics test with flying colors, but then the interviewer took one of the questions from the N400 form, you know the ones that ask if you're a terrorist or supplied insurgents with weapons, or were a communist and so on, and read it to her very quickly, then asked her to explain what the question was asking.  She told him that she understood each of the questions because her preparer, me, had explained what each of them meant, but that she could not paraphrase it as he read it to her quickly.  So, he failed her for ability to understand English.  I read and re-read all the requirements, and it says understand simple english......  From the USCIS website

    A. Educational Requirements

An officer administers a naturalization test to determine whether an applicant meets the English and civics requirements.

The naturalization test consists of two components:

    • English language proficiency, which is determined by the applicant’s ability to read, write, speak and understand English; and

    • Knowledge of U.S. history and government, which is determined by a civics test.

    And ....

    D. English Portion of the Test

A naturalization applicant must only demonstrate an ability to read, write, speak, and understand words in ordinary usage. [5] Ordinary usage means comprehensible and pertinent communication through simple vocabulary and grammar, which may include noticeable errors in pronouncing, constructing, spelling, and understanding completely certain words, phrases, and sentences.

I may be wrong, but insurgents, guerrillas, Rebels, Militia Paramilitary Units, self-defense unit,  and other such terms, i don't believe qualify as simple vocabulary and grammar.

She works in a restaurant and converses with customers in English every day, and can carry on a conversation with anyone.

So now we have to wait for an RFE for the W2's and if/when they schedule a new interview.

    Totally pissed!!

That is absolute #######. I’m so sorry

    Hi guys,

It looks like some of you have similar situations and although it sucks, its nice to know I am not the only one in this boat.

my I-751 is pending , 18 mo extension will expire next month in mid-March , so I have requested an Infopass appointment. Any idea what to expect ? Can the officer explain the delay or anything?  Can I travel on I-551 stamp? (I'm seriously stuck because my job is changing after April and my license is expiring and I obviously need documentation to obtain both).

Meanwhile,  I have already applied for N-400. I have no idea why its taking this long to schedule my N-400 interview as I have friends who have gotten it already in Boston. My expected completion date 'dissapeared' from the website now as I was scheduled for completion by Feb2020. How do I request a combo interview?

    Dates:

June = I-751 submitted to Vermont center

July 2018 = 18 months extension letter / completed biometrics

Sept 2018 = transferred to Potomac Center

--- and zero update since then.

    July 2019 = N-400 application

    Aug 2019 = biometrics

N400 receipt notice doesn't say anything about travels and nor (as far as I know) it can be used to gain entry into the country (unlike the I751 receipt notice).

I applied for N400 after it's been about 15 months since the filing of I751 (at CSC). My I751 was approved a few days right after I applied N400. Although, I don't think N400 filing did anything to the processing of my i751. I think i751 was processed by USCIS office at their own pace. Once I received the new GC - I uploaded the scanned copy of it to the N400 online application portal.

    Thank you!

I-90 was filed a while ago and approved. This is I-751 where you obtain a permanent GC from a conditional one. There is no fee for Infopass appointment and I heard about this from reading forums.

    Thanks!

Hi, I called USCIS about this a couple months  ago and they mentioned some appt but didn’t say InfoPass. Did they give you any information? Like is this supposed to approve your application or is this supposed to give you an extension? So nuts that they are just not doing anything with these applications.

Well we are 11 days from N400 interview in West Palm Beach, FL,  and after finally getting through to Tier 2 at USCIS, the agent said that they could not do anything to ensure that the I-751 would be handled at the same time.

In any case, a day later I finally got an update on our I-751 that it was transferred.  First action since it was receive in JUly 2018.  I don't know to whom it was transferred yet, as I cannot see the location online, so with have to wait for the NOA to arrive in the mail.

That’s crazy. Well at least you got an update! My case doesn’t update online because, according to the last agent I spoke with, it’s too similar to someone else. Also insane. I hope you get some news soon.  Sounds like you will get it all taken care of with the N400 interview. Good luck!

After 17 + months of nothing, finally received an 1751 update yesterday. Anyone else get file transferred to their local USCIS office? Could this be because we submitted N400 on 12/31/19... Fingers crossed it's good news and maybe an approval or interview for either case!!!

So I gave up on ever getting a status update on our I-751 case.  16 months since filed and 9 months since biometrics completed.  I decided to file the N-400 and at least we are seeing some immediate movement.  Filed online Nov 2, got immediate NOA on Nov 2, and notification of biometrics scheduled notification on Nov 9th, appointment document available to see online on Nov 13, with an appointment date of Nov 25th.

Still no change or notification of any kind on my I-751.

    Hopefully all will be merged.

I too have had zero updates on my I-751. Filed early July 2018, biometrics in March 2019. My case doesn’t update online. I called last month and they said my case number is too similar to another, so they won’t update online (?????). Just endlessly waiting and going crazy.

Hi guys - just wanted to share some good news. I FINALLY received the notification “new card is being produced!” About my case:

    Applied July 24th, 2018, CSC.

Received the extension letter in August, 2018.

Received the notice saying my biometrics would be reused in March, 2019, then in July received a biometrics appointment that took place on the 15th of July.

    then it was crickets...

the website NEVER worked for my receipt number. It was always stuck in “Case Received”. I had to call for any updates!

Then last night, out of nowhere, received notification that card was being produced.

On the old website it never recognized my receipt number, but now it says card being produced. The new website still shows “case received”.

again, filed at CSC and case was never transferred.

THANK YOU for all your help!!

Such good news! This is literally me exact scenario (minus green card being produced). 🤞I’m next. Congrats to you

Yeah that's totally unsatisfactory, there so many factors and decisions that need to be made based on green cards. It feels like a bit of an indifference on their part. for out case we are overseas, with an approved N-400 pending I-781 adjudication. the cases have been merged, but due to nature of our application we must fly back to (at least told by the field office last time) to get anything done. info pass appointment I would hope would be at a local embassy. hey thanks for that peace of information.

Considering your situation is different that mine (I am in the US with a pending I-751) I recommend you call sooner than later to confirm what your steps are.   Good luck, what a hassle.

It's normal that 18 months will pass with no action? or that it's usually resolved before 18 months? December, our 18 months will be finished. Has anyone heard of additional extensions?

I recently called USCIC because my case is not updating online. I also asked that question. They told me that if I don’t receive a decision by month 17, to call them and tell them and ask for an “info pass”. I believe that is something that gets you an appt so you can go get a stamp in your passport.  She sounded routine about it but I don’t love that idea. Why can they just not send us all further extension notices?

Anyway, be prepared to call one moth before the expiry date.
