  1. Can you explain better what that means? I am assuming it's job qualifications but is there a difference in languages? I wouldn't think any translation would be required between Australia and the United States. Are they looking for a resume or Letters of Employment from your previous employers? Sorry, your employer's request is not making sense to me.

My apologies, I realised after it probably wouldn't of made sense. But exactly what Sukie explained is what I meant ?

Australian education is often "certificate" based. Instead of baccalaureate degrees like Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science, one earns "certificates". For example, Microsoft offers numerous certifications that are global in nature - like the MCSE (Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert). But Australia offers many certificates that might need "translation" to US-based educational systems.

University degrees are normally only three years in Australia. If you are deemed worthy, you are allowed to take a fourth year (called "Honors"). So evaluation of transcripts is often important - as US baccalaureate degrees assume 4 years.

OP, google this: translate australian certificate to us education equivalent

It seems that there are numerous places that might be able to do this for you.

    Sukie in NY

Thank you for explaining this for me. And I will continue googling lol!?

    Services such as the following

    https://www.ece.org/

will assess australian qualifications and translate int US equivalence....for a fee of course

Congratulations on the job!!! So glad to hear you found one! It wil be such a good step forward!

Thank you muchly! Can't wait to start working, just waiting for them to check my Aussie references then I can start! I will definitely check out the link. Hope you guys are settling in well! ?

  2. Quick question for anyone who maybe able to help me out. I have been here just over a month and recently gained employment and my employer has asked me to have my Australian qualifications translated over to US. I have been searching and really don't know where to start on where to go or who to use. If anyone could give me some suggestions it would be greatly appreciated! ? Thanks!

  3. Keep your chin up! I've been here a few days short of a month, and have been applying everyday to whatever I thought I would be able to do, not necessarily in the field I'm qualified in. I'm qualified in Childcare/Youth work, but was having no luck in that field either. And everyday I was getting rejection emails. I was starting to hate it, going insane because I wasn't doing anything. Until Monday, I received a call, pretty much had a phone interview, where we discussed my qualifications and experience, she said to me that my qualifications will have to be converted over, but after that I got a face to face interview and was hired. I start Monday.

I spoke to a recruiting agency that had jobs going in my qualified fields and was told that they would be able to find me temp work, which I was going to do. You have some great suggestions here, and all I can add is stay positive, and just keep applying. Things will come your way. I wish you all the best of luck ?

  4. For the police check you can get either the AFP Full Disclosure police check or a Fingerprint one. I only did the Full Disclosure and never had a problem and for half the price, and all online, received my Police certificate in the mail 7 days later. The link provided to you above has it all.

As for the I-864 form, I didn't need a sponsor, but on the off chance I did, from recollection, even though you are using joint sponsor, you have to still fill in I-864 as well, as you are still a sponsor as well. Someone else might chime in with more info on that. I don't know anything about the other form you mentioned, sorry.

  5. Nope unfortunately no way to track. Your IOE# will get an error when looking at Status.

I contacted USCIS and they say their website doesn't recognize the IOE receipt number 5 hey are working on it.

All they will tell you is nothing can can due until the 120 day mark. So wait we must.

#######!! I had figured as much...but it's all good cause I have my passport with visa for now & SSN so I'm good to go :) thanks

May be that's the case... however I thought the stamp in passport was only works to travel outside country and back... one of my friend's wife had hard time convincing HR regarding that so I advice to wait until GC.

All the best! Let us know if this works for you. It would be good to know so my wife don't have to wait for 4 months to look for job :-)

The stamp in your passport is temporary visa until GC is received. Just need to wait for SSN, before being able to apply for jobs. I had an interview this morning and they were fine with the stamp in my passport. Took a week to get my social security number.

  6. I have quick question concerning affidavit of support if someone who has already been interview can help me. I submitted affidavit to NVC and the interview letter still ask to submit one at the interview. Should I fill out one and take to the interview because we are not yet in a new tax year?

I would say they are asking for the original of the I-864 (AOS) that you submitted to NVC ( they want the wet signature) and original tax transcripts & w2 for the current year (the ones you submitted to NVC)

  7. Hey all, just thought I'd pop in and see what's going on...congratulations to all those that have been approved so far, and good luck to those who are waiting.

Just wanted to say that I'm FINALLY here ? Landed in LA Friday 5th. Going through immigration was a breeze, I came in on a 6am flight so customs was pretty quiet, spent about 10 minutes with the officer as he entered me into the system, stamped my passport, handed it back and said welcome to America ?...including waiting in line time I think I was in immigration about half an hour. So good to finally be with hubby!!

  8. Probably a bit late in replying, but I'm still settling in after entering US. I think I'm the one Dee Elle was referring to ? Had my interview Tuesday 26th had my visa in hand on the Friday 29th, booked flights same day, entered US Friday 5th August. I checked ceac everyday after interview and it said AP until the Thursday afternoon when it changed to issued, which I got the next day, as tempting as it was to book flight then, I waited until I physically had it. ?

  9. Received my visa today, 3 days after interview  , flights are now booked, POE will be LAX next Friday!! :dancing: A big thank you to everyone here in VJ, I don't know where I would be without the wealth of help and information I have received along the way, even for my pesky and silly questions at times

To those who are still waiting for interviews or had interviews, good luck and congratulations!!! :)

  10. Something just came to mind about my IRS transcript.

Since my husband has never entered the US, I have been filing as single for the last few years. I checked with two different accountants, and they said this was fine, as my husband does not have a SSN. NVC didn't say anything about it, I got CC on June 27th without a checklist.

Do you think this would be an issue at the interview?

    Hi

I was stressing over the same thing, especially after reading on here that my husband should have been filing married. He hasn't done it since we have been married either, and so I was freaking out when it came to interview. But turns out I was stressing over nothing, it never came up, actually the CO didn't even look at my file during the interview. He is amending them now though! :)

  11. Congrats!!1

    Congrats!!

    Thank you!

    congratssssss

    Thank you!

    Congratulations!!! :dancing:

    How Exciting!!! Congratulations :dancing:

    Congratulations!!! :dancing:

    Thank you!

    Congratulations great news.

Well that was easy peazy. Congratulations.

It was a lot easier than I anticipated. I think I spent 10 minutes with the CO if that (the rest of the time was waiting to be called) he didn't even look at my file when I was with him, he basically asked me 5 questions, typed on the computer, picked up my file (that was sitting to the right of him the whole time) closed it up, put it on another pile and said your visa is approved you will have it within a week!! :dancing: And thank you! :)

  12. When is your interview? Mine is at 8:15 in the morning, from QLD as well, I'm flying in the day before because I know what Sydney traffic is like at that time of the morning. The afternoon is the same. I have my flight out booked at 2pm, I wasn't concentrating when I booked return flight, but like you I'm hoping I should have enough time. I think I should be safe, from what I've read the longest someone has been in there is 3 hours...fingers crossed anyways lol!

  13. Ok for some reason, its not letting me cut and paste links, but.....go to the search bar and type in failed medical, drug use medical, etc, there are plenty of posts in here on the topic or google US Immigration Visa Medical there are plenty of links there as well. I have read posts of people failing medical for all sorts of reasons on here.

As for the info I have given you...it's personal experience, I had my medical 3 days ago, I went through it and had a good conversation with the doctor on the topic of what they test for and why, and the questions they ask you. And apparently they are a lot more lenient on what they actually have to do now, not like before. Oh and you won't actually know whether you passed or failed your medical until interview, your results are in a sealed envelope that you can't open, it is for the officer at interview to look at. All I was told by the doctor when he had finished was, it all looks good, but I will have to wait on the results of the bloods and xray to finalise my report. So who knows I may not have passed mine! Like we have said to you, just be honest, you never know it could mount to nothing!
