normally 7-10 business days, not including weekends or the actual day of mailing.

So if it was actually mailed out on Friday August 25th, not counting the day of mailing or weekends, it's been only 5 business days so far.

Keep in mind, the case status saying it's been mailed won't necessarily reflect the ACTUAL date it was mailed out.  It's possible it wasn't physically mailed out until Monday morning (August 28th).

thank you for your reply, so I should wait for another week and see if I will receive it.

Good luck and I hope everything is going to be okay. When is your oath ceremony? you might get your the decision letter before the oath ceremony if not you can tell them you don't have it. You would need to take your expired GC and supporting letters. Keep us updated about your process, thanks

i dont know the oath ceremony letter yet, bc i have not even received the decision letter. They said its mailed on Jul 12, but I have not received it. I GUESS the oath ceremony letter and decision letter would be 2 separate letters, right? what do u mean by supporting letters? thank you

I think that wont be an issue. If you dont have it you dont have it. You can just tell them that you have not received it yet. I presume it becomes Void anyways once you take the oath of citizenship,  so i doubt they will make a fuss. I mean think of it this way, they cannot accuse you of deception in regards to that which you don't have when they themselves likely have no proof that it arrived.I mean if you have some form of tracking number proof you can provide that or maybe the customer service at USCIS can send you an email stating you called and conferred with them that it did NOT arrive yet in your mail box but short of that you cannot do anything but attend the oath ceremony and tell the truth - "You dont have it, it never arrived in my mail box and I did A, B or C to track it down without success". Im sure they will understand.

thank you, hope everything will be fine

This makes sense to me. I mean why do you need your perm 10 year card if you are going to be a citizen. Once you are a citizen you can just apply for jobs with your DL and SSN and possibly the Certificate of Citizenship but i doubt thats necessary unless you are applying for a GOV job.

thank you for your reply. But my concern is we have  to return our green card when we go to the oath ceremony, so IF i don't receive my 10 years GC, how can I return it at the ceremony. They may ask for that.

  5. Hi Guys,

I wonder if this happened before.

1, If both your I-751 and N-400 approved on the same day. And the USCIS is NOT going to produce your  10 years green card, you will only go to ceremony with your 2 years expired green card + 1 year extension letter + oath ceremony letter. Is that OK? Because I know, they will ask you to return the green card, what if I don't have 10 years GC?

Both my case were approved on the same day, and USCIS officer said they might not produce my 10 years GC, and I just called it's not been produced yet.

2, Since there is no update about my case online, the officer told me that they already mailed the decision letter to me on Jul 12. However, its been 3 weeks, i have not received yet. Does this make sense? Usually, how long does it take?

Thank you so much and have a nice day!

Congratulations on your approval! I believe the miscommunication with emails and texts is normal, just keep checking your status online. I would wait a couple of weeks to receive the letter.

May I ask what documents you brought to the interview as proof for a bona fide marriage? Thanks and good luck with your ceremony!

as many as u can, like joint utility bills, bank account, pics, travel documents, etc

  9. Hi Guys,

Below is the case I posted a few weeks ago, now i have a update,

    Hi Guys,

I just finished my N-400 interview. I applied based on 3 years marriage. I passed the test, but the decision can not be made yet. The office said because my I-751 is still pending, she needs to see all my documents about my I-751 first, then make a decision on my N-400.

Does that make sense, whats your thoughts?

    Thank you so much !

    Updated:

I just called USCIS, and the officer told me that both my I-751 and N-400 were approved on Jul 12, and I am not gonna received my green card... then I asked, "I did not receive any notice or email about this"... he replied:"its pretty normal, because they did my 2 cases at the same time", and they will mail me a notice about the oath ceremony within next 30-90 days.

Is this normal when you call USCIS, they told u that your case was approved, but you did not receive any email and text from them? Also, if my cases were approved on Jul 12, usually, how long will I receive the letter about my oath ceremony?

Thank you so much and have a nice day!!!!

  11. Hi Guys,

I want to know if anyone in the same situation as I am right now. I am a I-751 DEC, 2015 filer Vermont center, I have not received any feedback from USCIS since the finger print, NO RFE, NO INTERVIEW NOTICE, I called them twice, and also spoke to the tier 2 officer, both they said I am still under FBI security background check, they don't know how long it can be finished.

So I filed my N-400 in Dec, 2016 based on 3 years marriage, and had my interview done this week, I passed the test, but the decision can not yet be made. Because the IO who interviewed me said my I-751 is still pending, she cannot make the decision before my I-751 is approved, so she needs to see my I-751 package first, then make the decision.

Does that make sense? Does anyone experience the same situation as I did? What should I expect next and what should I do right now?

Besides, i received 2 strange texts after my N-400 interview and said that my N-400 case was updated, asked me to go to the website to check, then i visited the website, actually, there was nothing changed. The number who texted me was strange, I don't think its USCIS, its a umber from NM state, how did that happen?

Thank you so much for your help and reply.

This looks like USCIS screw up. Service center should have forwarded your I-751 to the field office or adjudicated it at the service center before your N400 interview because before your I-751 approval, N400 cannot be approved. God knows why it didn't happen in time, it's just a matter of mailing a package. Though it sounds like your I-751 is on its way to the field office, I am not sure what would happen at this point or when. Hopefully they would resolve this without requiring a 2nd interview and as soon as possible. Perhaps you could bring your congressperson into play and ask assistance to expedite your I-751 adjudication. They might be able to get a more definite answer on the status of your I-751.

    Hopefully, everything will go smoothly...

Did you ask if your I-751 is still with the service center or they have it at the field office?

Normally they do a concurrent I-751/N400 interview for pending I-751/N400s. We have seen these kind of interviews before. Did you receive any interview notice for your I-751? Did you go to the N400 interview with your spouse?

I did not ask her if my I-751 is still with the service center or they have it. But based my understanding, she does not have it, because she said she needs to receive my I-751 first, then make the decision on my N-400 case, so I guess she does not have it right now.

I have not received any interview notice for my I-751, and yes, my spouse was with me today, but the officer said she did not need to see him, just interview me if fine.

    So does that make sense?

  15. Hi guys,

I will have my N-400 interview in Jul.  And I have following questions:

1, I applied based on the 3 years marriage, does my spouse has to go with me for the interview ?

2, Regarding the joint bank account, utilities bills, etc. Shall I submit last 3 moths, 6 months or more?

3, I have not received my 10 years green card yet, they said its still under security check.  It's ok for me to go to the interview without receiving the GC? What shall I expect at the interview?

Any other tips for the interview are very appreciated. Thank you!

The "starting to schedule interview" message means you are placed in queue to be given an interview date. It doesn't mean that they have already scheduled an interview. If you're at this stage, it usually also means that you are past the FBI background check.  How soon you will get the date depends on your local field office. What is your USCIS field office? To get an estimate of how long it will take for you, eyeball through the last 3-4 monthly threads and look for your particular field office. Some field offices are much quicker than others.

Also, in your case, since you are concurrently filing I-751 and N-400, they will either 1) do both the I-751 and N-400 interview in one go or 2) You will first get an interview for the I-751 (less likely scenario). In any case, they cannot proceed with your naturalization until they have finished adjudicating your I-751 first. 3) Between now and the day of your actual interview (however many weeks or months that may be), you could also get separately approved for your I-751 in which case you'll get the green card in the mail. All these scenarios have happened.

thank you so much for your response, u mean I probably passed the I-751 FBI back ground check because I received this notice (they are starting to schedule my interview)?

I filed in October, and I do not have an interview as yet. I have had the notice that they were starting the scheduling process.  That notice came on 11/17/16. I've not heard since. It's very slow at some field offices.

OMG, u mean u received the notice that they were starting the interview schedule on Nov, 17, 2016,  but u have not received any letter from them since then? whats your field office?
