  1. Hi,

I had my interview on 7/27 and was approved for a CR1 visa.

On 8/1 in the morning, CEAC status changed from Admin Processing to Issued.

For people who went through this at the Paris embassy, did you receive an email with a tracking number or something? How long did you wait between the issued status and receiving the passport? I'm sure it's just a matter of days / week, but just want to know what to expect from others' experience :)

Hoping to fly out on August 10th, hopefully that's not too tight (it's exactly 10 business days from my interview date)

    Thanks!!

  2. Hey Everyone,

I had my interview for CR-1 visa this morning at the US Embassy in Paris. Consular Officer told me my visa was approved and I will receive my passport in 7 to 10 business days with the visa stamp.

I just checked CEAC and it now says "Administrative Processing". I've read a lot of horrible stories about administrative processing with people being stuck for weeks and even months on end without any reason being given.

I'm wondering if a few days of "administrative processing" is the case for every visa and the CEAC will switched to issued in a few days? or should I brace for some possibly longer delays??

Would love to hear from other people in Paris and other embassies!

    Thanks a lot

  3. Hi,

My case was expedited at the NVC earlier this month and was sent to the embassy in Paris, France

On 6/16, the embassy emailed me an interview date on 6/29. However, I can't attend the interview on that date (my passport is at the Indian embassy for 2 weeks for a tourist visa).

I emailed the embassy immediately on 6/16 to tell them I couldn't attend and ask for a reschedule. Since I haven't heard back, I emailed again yesterday and even sent a fax. Still nothing...

I called the embassy switchboard and they said the immigrant visa unit doesn't answer on the phone, only by email..

Any suggestion as to what I should do now? Anyone had a similar issue in Paris or somewhere else?

    Thanks!

  4. Hi,

Does anyone know how long it takes with an expedite from case being sent from NVC to embassy until I hear from the embassy with an interview date?

    My timeline so far:

    - expedite granted June 6

    - case left NVC and CEAC status updated to in transit June 7

    - ds260 unlocked and filled June 8

    Thanks,

    Julien

  5. Hi,

My case number got assigned this morning and was given to me over the phone by the NVC.

I went on the CEAC and filed out the DS261.

I called NVC again to have it reviewed over the phone.

Agent asked how I filled ds261 since I haven't received welcome email yet. Told him I had link for CEAC already.

He said I jumped the gun and he isn't able to review the DS261 until the welcome email is sent to me, which can take up to 4 weeks.

Anyone had this happen before? Should I just to try and get another agent?

Should I wait until I receive the welcome email? How long does it usually take?

  6. Looked at the NVC wiki. If I understand correctly, the DS260 only gets unlocked after both the AOS and IV fees have been paid.

Once you've paid and gotten the bar coded sheets, can you send the AOS and IV packages to the NVC before the DS260 becomes available? Seems like you don't need anything from the DS260 In the IV package...

Just trying to see if I can gain a few days in the NVC process!

  7. Hi,

I know USCIS is very strict about expediting cases. For that reason I didn't even bother with doing an expedite request as I knew my reason wouldn't hold up for them.

How is the NVC for expedite requests? Is there a list somewhere of reasons they accept?

How strict would they be on financial situation related reasons for expedite requests?

  8. Hi,

I have 4 police certificates. 3 of them are from countries I lived in before but don't live in now. These might be 6-9 months old at the time of the interview but i assume this is fine given I don't live there anymore.

The 4th one is from my country of citizenship (France). I haven't lived in France in 9 years (I currently live in the us).

None of my police certificate list an expiration date.

Given all this, any advice as to whether I will need newer ones for the interview?

    Thanks a lot,

    Julien

  9. Hi,

My husband and I got married in the us. He filed for I130 and we are using consular processing (so I will go to the embassy in Paris for the cr-1 visa).

We never our marriage recognized in France so my French birth certificate doesn't mention our marriage.

Has anyone been in the same situation? Was that an issue when sending your documents to the NVC or giving your birth certificate at the embassy?

    Thanks!

  10. Hi,

My husband filed a I-130 petition for me (consular processing) which currently being processed by the Nebraska service Center.

I am looking at the documents required for packet 3 and the interview at the US embassy in my home country.

Regarding police certificates, do I need 2 originals: 1 to send to the NVC and another one to present at the interview? Or do I need just one original? (Ie will the one I send to the NVC be forwarded to embassy?)

  11. Can anyone share their timeline for IR-1 visa through consular processing in Paris?

What would be the shortest time I could hope for between filing I-130 and getting the immigrant visa? I have pretty much all the documents required in Packet 3 already, so I would be able to send documents to the NVC as soon as they ask for them...

    Thanks!

  12. Hi,

For people who have done the CR-1 Process through consular processing.

I believe Packet 3 asks you to obtain a police certificate for every country you have lived in for more than 1 year. is that correct?

I have been living in the US (on a F-1 visa) for 18 months. Will I need to obtain a police certificate from the USA as well?

Also, do you know how recent those police certificates have to be?

    Thanks a lot,

    Julien

  13. I currently hold an F-1 visa (granted in June 2014) and study at Northwestern University.

I will be coming back to the US from a trip to Canada on January 2nd. My F-1 is valid until June 2016 and I will continue my studies until graduation in June 2016.

My partner (USC) and I have been together for 6 years (before moving to the US) are planning on getting married on January 5th and filing for AOS the following day.

Do I need to be worried about change of intent? Do i need to wait 30/60 days from my last entry before filing for AOS?

    Thanks a lot!
