  1. Thank you Jenn, I am hoping for the same thing but all of a sudden my ceac is down I can't check my status, maybe they are working on my file?. At the end of the day I'm just glad I'm out of AP. Praying and hoping for everyone to receive good news soon. Hang in there, there a light at the end of the tunnel?

    any news today?!

i just checked ceac and my daughter and i have both been updated to non-immigrant ready!!!!!!

  2. Hey guys,

Didn't realize this section existed on VJ. My wife's interview was on December 18 for CR-1. Right now our status is "Ready" on Immigrant Visa Application. The date has been updated twice, but that's it. Will keep updating this thread and checking for updates from everyone!

are you ready immigrant or have you switched to ready non-immigrant yet?

Mine was updated today, maybe because consulate received my irrelevant courier bar code papers..

Documents arrived late 1:30pm at offsite facility yesterday, checked ceac like around 2pm today nothing and by 4pm it was updated..

Is it possible they physically got my documents in 1 day?

I think it is unlikely it passed through security in just a couple hours, but you never know! everything is unpredictable. Hoping it was triggered by someone working on your case!

  3. I brought absolutely nothing with me except all required documents and paperwork in a folder... a man who was behind me in line waiting outside was turned away because of his back pack. yet i saw women with purses inside, even though we are told they are not allowed. so honestly, if you don't need it, leave it, just in case. I also wouldn't worry about a picture of the engagement ring either. But like the poster above said, do bring photos of the two of you if you can, although they never asked to see ours. But it's better to be safe!:) Good luck!

  4. I was thinking using their system to send might be better for the security screening etc., so I don't think you can ask for better than two days!

He didn't make me any representations about turnaround for my case in January (I have to send back my passport and joint sponsor info when I get back from a holiday in Hawaii), but he did say that it would be faster to have an FedEx overnight return than using the regular system for that.

(Stupid Hawaii trip! talk about your mixed blessing!)

Anyway, thanks for the info! Plan for the worst, hope for the best is all you can do with this, huh. Good luck :)

Hawaii is beautiful! I would much rather be heading to a warm beach then sitting in feeling sorry for myself lol!

I think by January things will be back to normal and the process will pick up again. Your best bet would probably be to send through Canada Post then. As for returning it, can you fed ex it right to your house? Because that would be ideal! I'm unable to change my location now, but I would have preferred that too!

  5. Is there any time advantage to using FedEx to overnight stuff back to the Consulate, versus using Canada Post?

I am wondering if faster is better or using their existing system (might not be overnight, I don't know) is better.

The CO said that I could get my passport FedExed back to me overnight by emailing an authorization (I hope the 221(g) form at home has some good info, because I was in a bit of a daze and I don't recall exactly the procedure).

I am going to try for a 10-business-day turnaround of my passport, so every smidge of speed will count.

They switched to Canada Post right after I had to send my additional documents in.. so I used their old carrier Loomis and it arrived at their sorting facility the next morning and then in the hands of a CO the following day. So I am not sure how quick CP is, but I am assuming with holidays coming up this week it might not be at it's fastest. I would try to contact both Canada Post and Fed Ex and see which one GUARANTEE'S overnight delivery. If you chose to go with Fed Ex it would be at your expense, but really, who cares... we all just want our visa's as fast as possible!

Also, I'm not sure what the CO told you at the interview about how quickly your visa would be issued and the passport returned to you.. the CO at my interview said two weeks and it has been four. So just be prepared that it may take longer than anticipated.

    Good luck!

  6. I had my interview on the 15th..in and out within 30 minutes, nothing out of the ordinary. Hope mine changes soon..it's been updated every weekday since, but still immigrant ready :( I want to book my plane ticket, but also don't want to be screwed out of all my money if it doesn't arrive in time.

I wouldn't worry. hasn't even been a week yet. you should have it soon.

just in case though, don't book anything until you have it for sure. anything can happen.. trust me!

  7. At this time I can't send any more emails, they were already pissed off with my last a few emails so I'm staying away from the spot light. I did all I could even involved the senator and all I got is I have to wait up to 8 weeks:( :(. But I'm hoping 4 to 6 weeks that is better than 8. Yeah and I just read about the visa shooting news that is hard to swallow. I been in this journey for 2 years now and I'm now an ir1 visa and I hope I don't get stuck some more because of all this craziness.I don't know how much more I can take of this waiting and not knowing business.

Ray of sunshine, I'm backing away from the emails too... I've sent quite a few, and twice they've ignored me. So i think I'm doing more harm than good in terms of that.

I really can't see us waiting up to 8 weeks or even longer, that seems to fall into the category of exceptional circumstances, so lets keep our fingers crossed! The average amount of waiting time in November got my hopes up, but of course December is a busy month and it was bound to slow down. No doubt the recent terrorism issues don't help:( It sucks not knowing where our case stands at this point, what they're doing, etc. but just stay positive! You and I are going into our 4th week!!!

  8. Hey guys I wanted to say he didn't specify which visas weren't being printed until the 29th, could be not applicable to K-1 or something, too.

I don't want to depress everyone :( just to share what he told me.

no, thank you for sharing! any information, depressing or not, is helpful in this situation. sharing each others' experiences gives us more answers than the consulate, that's for sure!

  9. I think you are right Jenn, I feel stupid. I thought consulate require me to send it. After reading deeper, I realized its for me to ask the courier staff to generate a retun label for me to send my docs. sigh

Don't feel stupid. It is better to be safe than sorry! It doesn't hurt to make sure you've covered everything. And it also won't do anything to affect your case either, I'm sure.

  10. That is what I keep reading. I am just annoyed that why (IF AT ALL) they are not printing the visas till 29th Dec? Is the embassy closing for the holidays?

I was under the impression from their website that they only close the 25th and the 1st, but I could be wrong?

If they are in fact not processing any more visa's until the 29th, maybe they are backed up? It is also the busiest time of the year for Canada Post, so that may not help either.

Hopefully this only applies to very recent visa applications though, and not to those of us who are still waiting from weeks/months ago.

  11. Hello,

I went to the interview yesterday at the US Embassy in Ottawa and as I just checked my application status it said "Your visa case is currently undergoing necessary administrative processing. This processing can take several weeks, or longer. As explained on the day of your interview, if further information is needed, you will be contacted. If your visa application is approved when administrative processing is finished, you will receive notification to collect the passport with the visa from the Loomis branch you selected when you booked your appointment."

Does any of you have any idea whether this is just normal? And about how many days it may take for my passport to be delivered?

    Thank you all!

many people are put into AP after their interview. even if it is just for a day. and then it will do some switching until it reaches 'issued'. others are placed in AP for much, much longer. i wouldn't worry about it too much yet though, your interview just passed and this is normal. give it a few business days next week and you should hopefully see some updates.

there are quite a few of us patiently waiting in AP, you're welcome to join us fellow Canadians as you wait!

  12. OMG.... I am glad I am not alone. I am stuck at second "READY" . I have no clue what that is. From reading around on VJ it "seems" like a good thing but I have been waiting and loosing patience everyday they dont work on our applications.

    when was your interview?

are you ready immigrant or have you switched to ready non-immigrant?

  13. Another day is gone and no change, the senator was told my file is with an adjudicating officer and this matter should be solved soon. I don't know if I should take that as a good sign or another bs they tell us so we can back off. And to know no visa can be printed until December 29th is just heartbreaking. I guess Happy Holidays to you all, maybe we will join our loved ones in the new years.

It could be bs, but it may also be progress in the right direction.

And the 29th may only apply to new visa's done recently! our cases have been there since November... some good news has to come!

  14. Another week done. Nothing has changed on my end, no touch since Dec 7.

I spoke to our lawyer this week, and he wasn't able to give me much insight except for that he thinks that the reason my case is taking so long is that its probably been sent to washington for "further background checks" since I "have ties to the middle east" aka my dad was born in Morocco. Although, he immigrated to Canada when he was twelve, and besides that we are Jewish, that is if their concern has to do with radicalization.

This all feels so unfair. I feel like I have one foot out the door, but meanwhile I am feeling super useless day in and day out. I sort of had everything wrapped up thinking I'd be living there by now.

Unsure how to proceed, thinking I will try to start working again once the holidays are over, since I honestly have no clue how long AP will last. That is the most frustrating part for all of us, we don't know if this limbo will last weeks, months or maybe even a year???

I'm trying my hardest to remain positive, but it's really hard because I don't know what the endpoint is.

Just had to vent a little, but I really hope that everyone else is able find positivity. I could definitely use some positive vibes right about now, this is really hard!

I know. It is really hard. Especially when you don't have any idea how much longer it will take and can't seem to get any straight answers as to what is taking so long. The best we can do is look forward with hope. Hang in there... almost done! Sending positive vibes!

  15. Almost...he didn't like my husband's employment letter mentioning his salary in CAD, so asked for a joint sponsor or USD in a US bank account.

That was totally out of left field for me, that was the least of my worries since he's keeping his job and transferring back to US division. But I guess the letter wasn't explicit about that.

If I'd left my passport it wouldn't have delayed me if we could send the additional AOS right away, but I'm hinky enough about travelling without it to just wait.

I'm just deflated but that's what you get for being optimistic. Anyway that's the only thing and everything else is good. I was worried about domicile!

Hope you guys get good news soon :)

I know how you feel! We were so confident we had covered everything, and yet here we are... a month after our interview still waiting. It is difficult, but the sooner everything gets sent in, the sooner they begin working on it. Although, they really slowed down this month it seems.

Keep us updated on how it all works out for you!

  16. Thanks for the reply..no update :( not going to be home for Xmas..

I don't think i will be either... average wait time for k1 visa's after sending documents in November was 10-15 business days it seemed. I am now on day 17. No one seems to even touch my case. My status's have never changed, besides the date, and those were usually due to emails.

The best we can do is hope for good news over the next few business days. I know, it is hard to stay positive.

Can your fiance visit you during the holidays?
