  1. That is not unusual. But in the even that they did ask for additional documents or proof you were prepared. It's all about the process. Be happy, you are done with USEM.

I agree and thank you again for all your help.

So even though many people are not asked for paperwork. It's better to have it an not need it than need it and not have it. You don't want to get denied then have to start the process over.

  2. Hey everyone! We did it! My HUSBAND moved here 7/18, we had our wedding on 7/30 and today we mailed the AOS packet (a week sooner than we had planned). Feels good to have packets done for the time being. The AOS packet was no where near as tedious as the petition. The I-864 was probably the most work. How is everyone's AOS coming along? Anyone received their EAD?

Congrats!! We filed for AOS a few weeks ago, bio metrics this coming friday. Still waiting for EAD

  3. I filed the petition for my wife's AOS using her birth name as we were still in the middle of changing her name in the Social Security office and obtaining a State ID for her. Now We have received her Social Security Card with her Married name, and a state ID with her married name but the AOS shows her previous name, we just received the biometrics appointment in the mail yesterday, will it be an issue? Can the Green card still be in her Married name or will this become a head ache?

  4. We think we are the last November filers to get the news! After six months and 4 days our noa 2 was approved!! We have no idea why our case took so much longer and it's been a horrible wait.

I know our case now goes to Nvc. How long until we can schedule the interview? It's been so long that I can't recall what happens next! She is near London. How long did it take people to get their interviews? As you can imagine, we are tired of waiting And want to get this thing done!!

FINALLY!!! Wow I'm sorry it took so long!

  5. Thank you, I think helping them get into accredited college over there would be the best way to help them when they graduate high school. I heard of some pretty decent colleges that are affordable compared to here.

  6. Hello everyone,

I know this may have been posted before but I could not find anything here or online. I'm thinking about this for the future not right now. I recently got married with my filipina wife last week and I grew very close to her family over the past few years.

Again this is out of curiosity, but is there a way to petition to bring cousins here to the USA. I know they can petition immediate family I believe, but can they petition cousins? If not, what about a student visa? I want to help her cousins go to school and I will help whether they go to school here in the USA or in the Philippines. I just want to know what options they have.

    Thanks in advance.

  7. Nice!!! I need to submit the paperwork too.

I am so far behind on this part of it. I guess burned out from the visa process that I didn't to deal with any paperwork for a time. But it is now time to dive in again.......

WOW...CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Jump for joy. I beat it was a piece of cake. Tell the story please...

    :thumbs::thumbs::star::star::thumbs::thumbs:

Not too much of a story really, I could not attend the interview due to only having 1 week of vacation time accrued so far this year, so I could either attend the interview and she would have to fly back on her own, or she could attend the interview and I can fly back with her. We both decided that she could attend the interview by herself. So going back, it's kind of been a crazy month, Once we got the NOA2 I contacted my job to get an employment verification letter, but in order to get that my job required a copy of the DS-160 confirmation page, so when I finally got that, we scheduled the interview for the 28th. So I had a matter of weeks to gather everything and fedex it to Regine. Fedex happily charged close to $300 to send a 5 pound box to the Philippines, but hey, it got there with all the contents so I won't complain. I sent her a binder with ALL the paperwork, neat and organized as well as my small tablet so we can communicate while she was in Manila. I booked a flight and hotel for her and her aunt and they arrived safely on Sunday and completed the medical on Monday and Tuesday. They stayed at the BayView Park hotel which is right across the street from the US Embassy, which they loved the hotel, it's really nice they said. So come the interview, I'm a nervous wreck but apparently everything went really really smoothly. They asked her 3 or 4 questions and then ...... Approved. ha ha apparently they didn't even look at the binder. So right now she's still in manila but she'll fly back home Saturday. I will fly over there in 2 weeks to pick her up and fly back with her. We will complete the CFO the day before we come back, I have already registered her online.

That week will be an intense week..... Due to saving close to $1000 in airfare I decided to fly to Cebu instead of going thru Manila, which means I'll have to catch a bus and ferry over to her city of San Carlos, from Cebu. To spend like 3 days there then on that Friday, catch a bus and ferry back, attend the CFO, and catch the flight, then land here in Texas 2 days later.....

I will need a vacation from my "vacation"

  8. This is a Buyer Beware Tip: Using USPS is sometimes hit or miss to the Philippines. The cost and ease of shipping is great from the USA but once it reaches the Philippines then it belongs to Philpost or it's numerous thieves. It's a 50/50 ####### shoot if it will ever arrive to the intended receiver. If you have something that positively needs to arrive in the hands of your fiancé, then you are best to use FedEx and bite the bullet and pay the expense $70-100 dollars depending on the weight. Heavier packages of course could send the price beyond $100.

Thank you Greenbaum, I will bite the bullet, with how my luck has been I'm certain if I send it with USPS it will end up where it shouldn't go.

    Thanks again

  9. We are in Orlando! Finally, my last trip to Ethiopia for a very very long time.

Visas stamped before I start ranting :-)

NO it was not uneventful. Two words-- American Airline Sucks; okay so 3 words.

I've flown a lot internationally. Not million mile, but a lot. 6 times to Ethiopia in a year and half. Several times to South America, various African countries, and Asia.

Of all my trips, this ranks as the worse. And American was the provider for a one way leg only; and they messed that up. Horrible everything, I'm embarrassed they have the name American.

I'm on my phone so I'll wait till I'm at my computer to fill in details. Except to say avoid AA at all costs.

Orlando POE was a 4 hour ordeal. 2 customs officers working the visitor line and 1 in the office. There were like 200 in line. Monday morning and 3 people working---for shame Uncle Sam.

Waiting in line was the ordeal. Once we got to the "interview" it was no issue. I did most of the talking; I was in control :-)

Only asked Aisha her mother and father's name. he assumed Niman was my son, the name, and I didn't correct him...I let him talk.

Aisha and Niman crashed tonight at 7pm. it is great to see them here, sleeping......

Yes I am exhausted, and somewhat still annoyed, but seeing them here, sleeping........

    Nothing else need be said---

Congrats, get some rest, you've had a long journey. Again very happy for you and congrats
