  1. We've used ATM cards, too, for quite a while to transfer funds to her and her family. My bank even let me open joint checking accounts, with her name on them (I brought a signature card over on one of my trips), so she has an ATM card with her own name on it.

Pulling money out of Russia is a bigger puzzle. I'm not sure Citibank will work, since it isn't really Citibank (as we understand it) over there.

  2. If you use the old I-129f you will, at a minimum, get a Request for Evidence concerning questions you'll answer with the new form. (And it isn't clear what USCIS is doing now, they might return the packet and ask that you use the new form.) It would probably be faster for you to use the new form.

  3. In several weeks I will submit my I-129F so my fiance can come to the States and marry me.

In November, 2005, I met this same woman and she came with me to the States on a K1. We didn't get married, and she left the States to return to Russia on 18 January. (We entered the day before Thanksgiving.) I've known her several years, and I met her in Russia in the course of my job. I've been in Russia, working and seeing her maybe a dozen times in the past few years.

We hope to get married next May.

Are there ways where the second K1 might be tougher than the first one? Demonstrating that we've met, in order to get my petition approved, should be really easy. (I have boarding passes for more than one leg of our travels together with me in one seat and her in the next seat, for instance.)

We have several joint checking accounts. She is a beneficiary on my life insurance. I'm guessing that the main hassle might be the "are you really going to get married this time?" question. What would be most convincing for that question? Anything else?

  4. What's good for the goose is good for the gander, right?

It'll be our second K1 -- she went home in January without marrying me. We'll start the second (and final) K1 soon and hope to be married in about a year. (So, we'll have to try to time our submission so the visa is issued between February and April.)

Last time, she had to get a police report. She'll have to do it again. It was a hassle -- police didn't know quite how to do it, gave her a runaround. This time, I may have some reporting to do. Or will they (USCIS) check on me directly, like my employer could if he felt like it?

So, I got to see a police letter saying that she had no criminal record. In a way, it seems fair that I should get some scrutiny too, even if it adds to the hassle.

  5. If someone sees the new I-129F posted, could you let us know? I'll be starting our (second) K1 soon and would just as soon use the new form. We aren't in such a big hurry, since we hope that she'll be able to enter in April, 2007.

I checked a few times last week and over the weekend and today, since I've read that the new form was to approved last week. I guess it wouldn't be surprising if there were a gap between approval and posting.

    Thanks in advance ...
